Not gonna happen, but what if Brady announced his retirement at the SB?

Nothing suggests Brady is remotely interested in hanging it up, but just imagine what an epic moment it could be if he's with Goodell in front of the world?

It would be like a song that gets lots of air play down in Houston

Naturally, we'd have to form a mob and run you out of "town" for suggesting such a thing and jinxing it.

I'd bemoan the lack of an extra first round pick this would entail, but it'd be an excellent way to ride off into the sunset.

Debbie Downer?

That hypothetical sounds like made it the Super Bowl? Yay. Now what would you do if the chartered Pats flight crashed on the way to the game, the entire team was lost, and the Pats had to forfeit to the Falcons?

I prefer happy hypotheticals. For example, how would Pats fans feel if the Commissioner were wrapped in 50 pounds of raw sirloin and dropped in the outback alone and unarmed near a pack of starving dingos?

He can do whatever he wants at this point. He will go down as the greatest ever, won more than anyone, and laid it all out there from day 1 to the last.

I will be singing Neil youngs "Helpless", but Tommy doesn't owe me anything.
Technically that's a CSNY song from Deja Vu.

It depends....

Would it be a pay per view event?

I just think he loves playing football, not so much about proving himself. Maybe defying age is something he wants to do. "When they drag me off the field"

Even if Brady announced his retirement he'd 'pull a Favre' and come back anyway.

ith the chance to repeat, get a 6th ring, and have another dynasty at the end of his career with 3 rings in 4 years
...and for the first time wearing his team's real logo and uniforms, looking like a champion while winning one, a basic, rudimentary opportunity that Starr, Staubach, Dawson, Namath, Bradshaw, and Montana all had but Brady has been denied.

Your reply is a waste of bandwidth. Forums are meant for open discussion. The internet welcomes you. Please be careful.
So nothing is a waste of bandwidth then? Why don't I start a thread saying what would happen if the stadium in Houston got swallowed up by a giant oil sinkhole the night before the game? Come to think of it, that might be as likely as Tom announcing his retirement.

What if this thread never happened? Wow.

Again, many members have suggested what Brady would do to Goodell in this situation. I definitely want Goodell to face this music and lose face.

If Brady did announce his retirement, there would be larger parades in Pittsburgh and Buffalo and many other cities than there would be in Boston.

If Brady really wants to stick it to the league and Goodell, he wouldn't retire, he'd continue eating the avocado icecream and winning more Super Bowls. He could ask Goodell to measure his balls right now. He could suplex him. There are so many better alternatives than just walking away.

It would be funny if he announced it after the SB, giving all the AFC hope for next year.

And then he rolls in to training camp and starts week 1 anyway having trolled the entire country.

Same thing I thought! And then when camp rolls around and he is asked about it, he should act incredulous and be like really y'all believed that? That was absolutely just me joking...retirement never crossed my mind

Even if he was retiring, Brady would never do that because he's not a selfish ******* that would want to take attention away from the entire team.

Lose face?

Violent...but I can go with it...as long as we get to watch.

EDIT - Declined to post gif of someone losing their face (gore and all)

Don't count your chickens before they are hatched

I'd be a bit sad, but I'd wish him the best and be grateful for all he's done
