Chip Kelly to meet with BB

Chip Kelly has some unique perspectives on regimen (rest, exercise, ...) and can go mad scientist with offensive plays. BB can decide what can work for his team or not and incoporate anything he feels will improve the team.

Chip can learn what it takes to succeed as an NFL head coach.

It's worth a look and could be a win-win.

Mort is scum. But he did not fabricate Deflategate. His handlers did and he dutifully passed it on. His big crime was failing to retract and correct, not fabrication.
You're splitting hairs there and I'm not letting him off the hook.

Mort is a big boy with a big boy's byline. He's accountable for what he reports, when he reports it and as he reports it.

A "fabrication" by any other name is still a fabrication.

Plus the Chipster is still being paid by San Fran. So BB wouldn't have to pay him a dime a la Lombardi.

Win win.

I could see a scenario in which Daboll is allowed to leave to become McDaniels' OC a year from now, thus opening up the OC spot for Chip Kelly without putting him in charge of a disgruntled position coach. Some kind of short term consultant role probably makes more sense for Kelly though.

My understanding is that Kelly has revolutionized/refined playcalling technique/languages and that the Pats have implemented parts of Kellys system.

If Belichick wants his input on a more official basis I'm sure it will be to everyone's mutual advantage.

I'm a big Chip fan. Hes not perfect but been a admirier of his ever since he coached at the University of No Hope.

I have complete confidence in BB extracting from Chip what would be most beneficial to the team and org.

What that is I have no freaking clue.

Agree.

I dont see how anyone can be negative about that meeting. There is essentially zero chance that he'd be anything more than some offensive assistant even if Josh leaves. It sounds like a great way to keep evolving our offense if it happens.

Make it so, BB. Make it so.

I bet is Chip asking a friend for a favor.

Chip has lost all the HC positions and most of the OCs. Best way to become relevant? Make the best Coach be interested in you

Seeing as the source is who it is I'm now questioning if either Chip Kelly or Bill Belichick actually exist.

I was going to post exactly this.

Until someone more credible reports it, or it's announced by the Pats organization, I'll spend enough time to comment on it here and that's it.

Schefter cosigning this makes it legit if you ask me.

Pretty interesting. BB is always thinking ahead. Chip's offense hasn't been successful in the NFL, but maybe Belichick wants to take a few pieces of Chip's offense and integrate it into his ? I was a big fan of some of his Oregon players, especially Kenjon Barner and Lamichael James and DeAnthony Thomas. But none of them have made an impact on the NFL (like Kelly).

Yep. In this league you either evolve or become predictable and ultimately irrelevant.

IMHO Kelly coming on board in a special assistant position can't hurt but may help. A smart football guy who has likely already watched many hours of Atl game video and play calling/formation study is a good thing to have if Atl makes the SB. Kelly allows BB and staff to be out in front of the curve.

I think you give McD a nice boo$t to keep him around at least as long as Brady is here. Especially if they win it all. Another 3-4 years and then decide to give him the gig or move on.

Want nothing to do with CK
