ESPN does another hatchet job on TB

2009 Manning should be MVP not Brees. Manning's higher winning percentage trumps Brees' 10 point higher passer rating.

2016 Ryan should be MVP not Brady. Ryan's 5 point higher passer rating trumps Brady's higher winning percentage.

Nice way to prove that MVP is not an award based on objectivity.

Just as further proof, since 1989

Joe Montana and Tom Brady have 8 Superbowl rings, 6 SB MVPs and 4 season MVPs

In comparison :

Young, Favre, Warner, Manning and Rogers have 6 Superbowl rings, 4 SB MVPs and 13 season MVPs

Sheesh, you guys really need to calm down, saying that Brady shouldnt win the MVP is hardly a hatchet job.

Not every piece can be a love letter to a game to player or a team, no matter how good he/they are

"Hook, line, and sinker" said BSPN;)

Apparently according to this idiot a, 5.4 to 1 TD to INT ratio is not far off from a 14 to 1 TD to INT ratio. So Brady's 28TD-2 INT isn't as impressive when you look at Ryan's. MY WORD.

I really couldn't careless about the "Best Regular Season QB" award. And it's fine if this idiot thinks Ryan should win. But don't sit there a spew utter f**king **** saying a 14 to 1 ratio isn't that far of from a 5.4 to 1 ratio. It is almost 3 times higher, Not that far would have been 12 to 1 or 11 to 1. Not f**cking 5.4 to 1.

To me it's a simple question, who is the best player in football this season, and it is clearly Brady. There isn't anyone in their right mind who would take another QB with the season in the line.

I think some of us need to stop taking these thing so personally. They're in the business of getting clicks, pure and simple. An article with the headline "Why Tom Brady doesn't deserve to win" will get 10 times as many clicks as the exact same article, only with Ryan, Elliott, Rodgers, Carr, etc in the headline.

That's all this is about. Getting clicks. Not making intelligent, insightful commentary.

You know what is also hilarious about this idiots argument? It completely ignores that Brady won as many as games as Ryan did in 4 less games. So he's basically arguing that the numbers Ryan amassed in 4 LOSSES is what makes him more valuable than Brady.. ABSOLUTELY IDIOTIC.

Like I said completely fine if he thinks Ryan or whoever should get it over Brady but make a better argument

Fake news.

Refresh my memory, is ESPN not the company that just paid 100 million to broadcast a game that at best will earn them -75 million dollars. Yea, I quite literally could not care any less what those douchecanoes at ESPN think.

that's "douchecanoe" hornet...unless you meant a German "vessel"...

Did this FESPN moron calculate Ryan's numbers excluding the first four games? If not, he's a paid troll, ordered to write tripe diminishing Brady...and we all KNOW where THAT comes from.

"For the season, Ryan beat Brady in completion percentage, yards per game, yards per attempt, passer rating and Total QBR. Ryan beat everybody in those last three categories. He did it for a team that had a far less effective defense than Brady's. The Patriots held opponents to a league-low 15.6 points per game, while Atlanta allowed 25.4. Ryan did it while taking 37 sacks, while Brady took only 15."

When did taking sacks make one a better quarterback?

Awfully long article to basically make the one point that he couldn't play for the first 4 weeks.
Matt Ryan also won as many games as Brady did. The issue is, Brady did it in 12 games. Matt Ryan also had his main target Julio Jones for what 11 or 12 games? Brady had his main receiver for 4. Who cares to be honest, BRady doesn't care, in fact I hope doesn't get it, he will use it as even more motivation.

Damn, cant believe my I misspelled that. Thanks for the heads up:D:D

I have no problem with Ryan being MVP. He's had an awesome season and has led his team to the number two seed in spite of their defense. That's an MVP in my eyes.

Brady has had an amazing season as well. If he won then it'd be deserved.

Can't complain against either.

However, I think a front page story on why a certain player shouldn't get it is kind of sketchy. Guess they're trying to account for their heel turn over the MVP voting. They had Tom comfortably in first, then changed their minds over the past week or so. I wouldn't think a win over the Saints would shift perception so much.

That's a good point last time I checked he was comfortably in the lead. What happened in the last week (after Tom broke the TD/INT record) for him to now barely make it past 2nd?

Like others this award is meaningless, probably more so for TB. I also have no problem with Ryan winning it, he's had a great season. Wouldn't it be funny if they give it to Ryan and then the Pats face ATL in the SB. I better shut up.

How many people in this thread actually clicked on the link? I didn't. I just responded to what someone else posted.

I read the article 13 times myself, very informative.

While Ryan beating Brady in yrd per game and comp % and passer rating.. is legit. However when your defense gives up lots of points or when your trailing by double digit points.. defenses tend to give you more yards for free.

The little that I saw of the falcons I saw 1 of Ryans passes hitting Julio Jones with a corner blanketing him underneath and a safety over the top and they were both within a yard of Jones. My point being that it was an incredibly dangerous pass and I doubt Tom would ever throw the ball to a guy double covered and blanketed like that. It was a good pass though.

I have no issue with Ryan getting the MVP.

It was the Denver game that knocked Tom out of the MVP. He was a game manager that game, he played not to lose.

I see Rob Parker is still the paragon of objectivity as he always was.

Saying Brady's rings don't make him the GOAT and comparing him to Robert Horry. LOL. Oh yeah and cheating or something.

did you happen to catch his act on colin cowherd today ?

I wonder how he would (re)position those if he had to pick the one to most likely win the Superbowl MVP :D.

Kurt just ranked his top 5 QB's and I thought he was gonna stick Brady at #5... but nope he put Brady as the 2nd Best QB this year and since he came back from his suspension he has been the best QB in the NFL.. but he got Suspended so... he is number 2.
