:D (jk dude)

I actually don't blame the NFL for this one. They have a product, there's a demand, so they are pricing it accordingly.

Of course, this has already been going on all along - including by the Patriots - by funneling the tickets directly to the "official travel agency of the New England Patriots" who then sell Super Bowl packages for ridiculous prices. Those travel agencies are not getting those tickets for face value.

From the article,"In 2015, when the New England Patriots faced the Seattle Seahawks, demand was so high that those selling on spec couldn’t fulfill orders and the market collapsed."
Ugh, no it didn't. On game day, people were offering me $10K for a ticket that I paid $2800 for on the NFL Ticket exchange...The supply collapsed but if the market had collapsed, the prices would have fallen......which they didn't..

Stubhub would be cheaper, but that's just the ticket. Does not include hotel like the nfl package does.

I'd need to have a much heftier salary to even consider...

Yeah, it would be very irresponsible for me to drop that kind of cash to attend a football game

Then again, it's always been on muy bucket list to go to the Super Bowl. Maybe....someday.....

Seattle fans were spending to the hilt for tickets and it drove the prices into orbit. Giants fans drive the prices down. Both NE vs NYG SBs I got a great deal on a ticket.

I spoke with NE fans who paid for tickets prior to leaving Boston for $3000.00 each. They booked hotels and flights, arrived in Phoenix to be told that they didnt have tickets to the game. Seattle fans were buying the same tickets from brokers for $9000.00 each. The brokers were refunding the Pats fans in full plus a inconvenience fee of maybe $1000.00 and still coming out smelling like a rose.

I read a story that the day of the game, a woman from Seattle paid $24.000.00 each for lower level tickets. I was hoping they would come down from $3000.00, but that was a dream. I watched the game at the Phoenix NEP fan club instead and got there at 7:30 am to get a good seat. Some bars and restaurants were charging for seats in their establishments. Just totally crazy.

Super Bowl tickets are most expensive ever

$5,500 for a tickets seems way too much for me. I'd consider it for $550. Even then you could get a 60" led tv for $550 nowadays.

Just go, you wont regret it.

Some people sleep in their cars if it comes to that. Set a limit on what you will spend for a ticket and if one doesnt materialize just watch the game with other NE fans that are there. Lots of folks go without a tickets.

Face value on my SB46 tickets was $900.00

I feel thankful to have attended four Patriots Super Bowls. I think the most I paid for a ticket was $2k. No way could I ever afford or remotely justify $5,500 ... I'm sure very few real fans could. I wonder what face value the NFL will print on those tickets.

I went to the 86 SB vs. Chicago in New Orleans. My buddy and so got 2 tickets on Bourbon Street for $75 each the morning of the game. That was the going price.

Nothing else in sports compares to attending a Super Bowl in person. You need to do it at least once in your life. It's the Disney World of football.

I've never attended a superbowl. I bet it's awesome. Had the chance but turned it down. For $2000 or $5000, whatever the cost is, I'd rather buy a plane ticket to somewhere in the world and explore. Just different priorities.

The "market collapsed" is a poor choice of words here. What did happen is many brokers had agreed to sell tickets they did not yet own at prices they set ahead of time. As time wore on, they were never able purchase tickets at prices that would enable them to turn a profit. Many of them scrambled, paying highly inflated prices for tickets so they could keep the commitments they had made. Some of them subsequently went out of business as a result.

I'd love to go to a SB but justifying that price is impossible. I spent $1500 to go to the bengals game in 2014, This year I have spent $3400 for to go to the Seahawks game as well as Cards @ VIkings and Maryland @ Nebraska. Each of the tickets are around $250 for those games. Travel and hotel makes up the rest and no doubt hotels are inflated for the SB. I'd likely be looking at $10k minimum. I just can't justify that for a long weekend.
