NFL Free Agency Thread

I feel like we could go back, year by year, and basically just replace the names and numbers but the yearly FA thread would pan out the same:

"Here's a twitter rumor"
30 posts about how that twitter account isn't realiable

"Why aren't we doing anything in FA?!"
90 posts about why this team's approach in FA sucks

"Rumor we might sign a high profile player"
200 optimistic posts followed by the high profile player signing a deal we could never meet.

And yet somehow ol' Bumbling Bill manages to accidentally GM us into the AFCCG/SB, it's some Mister Magoo ****.

Every player will respond a an injury different. So you really just don't know

Yup. I'm crossing my fingers, my toes and anything else that I can cross.

Nate Washington apparently had some very productive years in TN. I don't mind if he bring him aboard.

No, it's actually some Tom F Brady ****. Bill's GMing has little to do with it; it's hurt more than helped
in some cases..

The plus to signing Washington is that he just spent a year in Houston and BOB's system, so translating over to NE's system won't be as hard as it would be for your typical free agent. Keshawn Martin learned very quickly last year.

The Ravens and Steelers have improved since last season. I don't know why fans here are writing them off.

Longer deals in the NYJFL are meaningless. It's what's up front that counts.

People knock Danny boy too much.

Free agency is very similar to black friday. If you just wait until the mad rush is over you can still get the good deals.

At this point he's worth a shot and i may take him over Boldin. As far as we know there has only been talks with Boldin..no visit which i would think by now he would have visited but who knows

Who were the Steelers main grabs? Green? I forget if and who they got on D. But we have been waiting for Green to break out for a bit now and it hasn't happened. Losing Bryant sets that signing back and any others they have made on O

Ravens lost arguably their best OLman from last year and the Steelers #2 WR might be sitting out the year. Heath Miller to Ladrius Green isn't what I would call an improvement. More like a lateral move

The Ravens have lost Osemele and possibly Upshaw, Smith, Canty and only added Weddle, to what was one of the worst defenses in the league last season.

The Steelers have lost Bryant, Miller and possibly Beachum, Boykin and Blake and have only added Ladarius Green.

I don't think either team has really improved a whole heck of a lot, especially not the Steelers....

That's good, because according to Miguel they actually only have $12.15M in cap space. :p;)
Miguel's page said $17 million when I posted that...and still does.

The Steelers did improve but the unexpected loss of their #2 receiver has basically undone it. Brown and Bryant were set to be the most dominate 1/2 tandem in the league.

Free agent CB Antwon Blake is scheduled to visit the Lions later this week.

He spent Monday with the Titans and is set to visit the Patriots on Tuesday. Should he get out of New England without a deal, Blake will head to Detroit. Blake was a big part of the Steelers' dreadful pass defense last season.

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Antwon Blake set a record with his play during the 2015 NFL season but it’s not likely one he’ll be bragging to people about.

According to Pro Football Focus, Blake broke PFF records for yards allowed in coverage (1,074) and missed tackles (28) this year. That news is probably not surprising to any of you who are reading this, as Blake’s play has been atrocious this season.

WHY? The guy is 5'9" and gets burned. He stinks.

We saw Cannon last season. When he would rotate in early in the season it was a disaster nearly every time. Then when Solder got hurt we saw Vollmer forced to LT because Cannon flat out couldnt play LT and at the same time was one of the worst RT in the league.

Pats gave Cannon a decent contract so obviously saw something in him but i think last year show that in game action he just isnt good enough. I honestly think the worst mistake the Pats can make this offseason is to go into next season with Cannon as their backup Tackle (and no i dont want the backup tackle to me Waddle.)

Vollmer went to LT because Cannon got injured during the colts game and missed 4 games.. He played well when he went in for Solder during the Cowboys game.

Waddle played what, literally half a game before getting hurt and suddenly people consider him to be the answer at tackle. It's crazy.

People think he could be an answer if he gets back to the level of play he had in '14 and Scar coaches him up.. Obviously it's not a sure thing.

How anyone can complain about not signing Weddle to the kind of deal that Ravens did is beyond me. Would be a colossal waste of money given our needs.

Now, passing up Forte at the Jets' terms I will maintain was questionable: reasonable price, player that fits our needs smack in the middle, and one of the few 3o year-olds that I think has juice to play a few more high quality years....

the afc is basically a lock if our " competition " are the steelers/ravens. lol

more mentions of forte and boldin. no idea why people are so interested in old skill position players. unless we have a time machine, then it's pointless.
