WR Josh Gordon

I've been seeing some people claiming the Browns cut him, which I hope isn't true and it's just an overreaction to his "A fresh start..." tweet.

Otherwise the Ravens, Cowboys, Chargers, Giants could've grabbed him on waivers.

Anyway, I hope the Patriots show some interest and potentially make a deal (low risk-high reward).

It's a rare opportunity to bring in an ELITE talent at WR for their Hall Of Fame quarterback, at a relatively cheap price (4th + a player? Just a 2017 3rd? Would that be better than rising another high pick on WR who may bust?)

I also don't buy the talk about Lombardi not approving of him. Yes, he wanted to trade Gordon as the Browns GM, but: 1) the situation Lombardi was in + his perspective as the Browns GM at the time, is completely different from now as an executive with Patriots, and 2) those trade rumors were before Gordon took the league by storm in 2013.

How long has he been out of football at this point?

I have to say that I'd be reluctant to see the Patriots pursue Josh Gordon. While he's undoubtedly very talented, he seems to be a guy that has a hard time learning from his mistakes. Unless the Pats are able to sign him for minimal money, I think they should pass on Gordon.

If you have the chance to get this guy at a reasonable price, i think you absolutely have to roll the dice and do it. He is a big time game changer. One of the best receivers in the league.

However, i don't see him going anywhere. I see Hue Jackson being the confident type of guy who says i can get the most out of him and straighten him out while making him the AJ Green of the Browns offense.

Mistakes are? ;) His latest, was it drinking a glass of champagne after the team season finished on the flight home but not the NFL season closing date.

I think he wants out of Cleveland and an opportunity in a good organization like the Patriots might be in his best interest. Remember he was celebrating on twitter when Tom won the NFL in court.

It seems every off season that many on this board lust for a receiver, "who can take the top off of the defense" or "stretch the field".. all of that is fine and dandy, but we seem to have the answers already. Prior to the rash of injuries this team was an offensive juggernaut, so unless you can get him at a league minimum with incentives would not consider him.

Does he have the aptitude to be able to grasp this offense??... not everyone can.

It's certainly a question. Based on the YouTube above BB considers Gordon a lot more than a deep threat.

Ah, that touchdown when he caught it in front of Talib and simply outran him...

My main concern with Gordon would be how he's in shape, both physically and mentally after playing only five games in the last two years. I do think he could fit from a football standpoint, just don't know whether the Browns are willing to trade him for what teams will offer them. Gordon's value can't drop much lower, not playing for over a year and one failed alcohol/drug-test away from possibly gone from the NFL forever.

I think we could offer them a 4th rounder and see if they bite, like the Raiders did with Moss. Would be hesitant to go much higher than this unless Belichick and Brady can talk to him first and give him a thumbs-up regarding his willingness to do everything he can to get and stay on the field.

Not discounting his talent and versatility, just his aptitude to grasp this complicated offense.. not every WR can...

He did score a 24 on the Wonderlic so he seems to be able to process info and think quickly. I agree, though. That does not necessarily mean he can handle THIS offense.

I would take gordon, but somebody will pay him more than the patriots are willing to spend on him

I would not only take Gordon, I would like to have him here (provided he's getting himself in shape). Was very impressed two years ago by his 2013 campaign. He is no Mike Wallace one-trick-pony. He has great run-after-catch ability, can go over the middle and is quite big at 6-4/220. Problem is just the potential divergence between what the Browns would like for them not to keep him and what the Patriots would consider a realistic offer considering the obvious risks associated with him. In any case, I just hope that he doesn't end up on team that could threaten us for the Super Bowl.

If we are looking for positives, Josh Gordon's agent Drew Rosenhaus would sell his mother to the highest bidder, does have a good history with the Patriots in getting win-win deals done with BB. If it was Tom Condon there would be little to no chance of him coming here.

Josh's priority is to re-establish his ability to produce, demonstrate that he is capable of self-control and be a professional.

He wouldn't be the go-to-guy here but he can absolutely accomplish the other things.

Kind of amazing how many of those highlights are from down 2+ scores, often late in the 4th Quarter.

Hes a 6yr/$90m player if he behaved himself.

I really think the Pats will go hard at him and CLE.

If he is cut by Cleveland wouldn't other teams with more cap space dump more money to him? I don't think he would come to us just because we would be outbid by other teams.

In theory, yes. Browns only owe him $1.1m next year and is a RFA in 2017 so I doubt they cut him.

They can sit back and see what/who happens.

The first step is reinstatement.
