This storm supposed to start Friday night? How many inches they expecting?

Weather.com for eastern Mass. says five to eight inches here on Saturday, less than an inch on Sunday. Doesn't look like that big a deal, although Pats might want to leave Friday to avoid a delay (if that isn't the plan already).
I have always found weather.com to be the worst in forecasting snow. Accuweather and WU seem to be better

Sigh.......

Denver forecast:
The latest I've seen is a high of 41, with a chance of light snow later in the day.

Since Peyton does not thrive at 40 or lower, it may be an uncomfortable day for him....

Not only the snow but they're showing winds 25-30 and to make it worst out of the east. Losing cable or power for the game would suck!
You actually make a good point, losing the cable would stink!! I sometimes shut the TV off on key plays, so I would probably survive......

It's very hard to imagine that being a problem for any professional football player. I'd pay $100 to watch him on TV playing in 0 degrees with 20 mph wind.

11 out of 12 communities may see a foot.

This is getting more and more like the 2004 season. I like it.

In 2004:

-lose to a bitter conference rival in the regular season after long winning streak (21 games)
-head to AFCCG early because of snowstorm
-beat said conference rival in playoffs on the road in the AFCCG
-go on to win super bowl

In 2015:

-lose to a bitter conference rival after long winning streak (10 games)
-head to AFCCG early because of snowstorm
-beat said conference rival in playoffs on the road in the AFCCG?
-go on to win super bowl?

WU forecast is for 8-12" on Saturday in Worcester, but then we're always a snow magnet.
First time I ever saw a car buried in snow was in Worcester back in the 80's ... I was like whoaaa!!!

It makes me sick knowing again (like 2013/2014) how nice it will be in Denver while we'll be in nasty weather here. Unlike 2013, however, this year stings more knowing that the no. 1 seed really was there for the taking. I know many felt Manning would choke in the divisional round and we'd end up here anyway, but lo and behold we find ourselves in Denver. Darn.

The Pats are the better team but I can't help but worry about those dreaded 'phantom penalties'.

Plus something just seems wrong watching a sunny football game while it's night here and the weather is nasty.

It takes about 3-6 weeks to get acclimated to the Denver altitude, so leaving a day early won't help them in that regard. In fact, leaving a day early would probably do more harm than good, as dehydration and acute altitude sickness symptoms take about 24-48 hours to develop after arrival at altitude. At least that's what I've read in running magazines.

You're not going to get "acute altitude sickness symptoms" at 5300'. People go from sea level and hike 10+ hour days in NH at 5300' with no problems.

I'm pretty out of shape and earlier this summer I was in the suburbs of Albequerque at 6800' for a few days, then hiked around on Sandia Crest (over 10,000') without a problem, then went to the Grand Canyon north rim (7200') and did some multi-hour, steep hikes, and the same at Bryce Canyon (8200'-9000') and didn't feel any different than if I did similar-difficulty hikes here.

Now, football is absolutely much more intense. But those guys are also younger and way more in shape than I am. Is there an effect? Absolutely! But you don't need anything close to 6 weeks to get significant benefits from being there ahead of time, either.

4 days out, the GFS and EURO are in agreement with a major snowstorm for the Northeast! This is the 18z snow map! This will change since we are four days out, but WOW, I have never seen a GFS snow map like this 4 days out. The Patriots should leave earlier for Denver to avoid this monster storm coming! Ohh and it looks like this AFC Championship game, there could be snow. View attachment 11944

Am I reading this right? 40"+ in SE PA?!

Ha! That exact same thing happened for thousands of Comcast customers in Pittsburgh during the Steelers/Cards 2008 SB. They lost cable for multiple hours. Horrible timing.

55"! Wtf?!

0z Euro is starting to roll. Will post the Euro 0z snow map once it is done initializing!
