Attention Everyone: Please share your anecdotes from the time you personally hurt yourself, your recovery, your return to the Divisional round of the AFC playoffs, and your receptions, yards and TD for that game. It will be very helpful in us assessing Edelman's recovery. Thank you.

How do you know it's still fractured? People heal at different rates.

Once they put the screw in, they generally don't take them out.
Wearing a protective insert (not a brace) doesn't mean anything but they are trying to assure that it doesn't get injured again. It's no different from the fact that Brady still wears his brace on his knee, the O-Linemen wearing the braces on their legs knees.

Well, recovery time is 6-8 weeks. My understanding is that the screw is taken out once its healed

Maybe the fracture is completely healed? Depends on blood flow to the bone as well.

I'm curious as to why people think the plate will be in the bottom of the show and not over the top of it.. Edelman's foot was broken from someone stepping on it. Usually, if you want to protect something like that, you put something over it, not under it.. Putting it in the sole would make it more likely to be re-broken if stepped on, imho..

I have no idea what it will look like, but that is what comes up for protection for a Jones fracture recovery. There are supports that are braces for the foot that do go over the foot as well as under, but I haven't found anything that is close to a steel plate.

from the image, a reinforced arch that curves around the outside of the foot 100-110 degrees would seem most effective......

That seems reasonable. Seems like that part of the foot doesn't curve much underneath so maybe something that ran from below the pinkie toe to the heel might be good too. Seems uncomfortable...

Ha! Just my (hopefully helpful) contribution.... I've had a Jones on each foot. The video I saw today of him cutting and putting full weight on the foot does show that he's comfortable. I can at least tell you this: his recovery is much more accelerated than mine was both times. It took me at least a few months before I was that comfortable jumping onto it.

I think that contrast is a fair one. He looks healthy and ready to go.

Here's the bottom line:

Youre also not a professional athlete with all the best doctors and rehab at your finger tips. At least i think...

So, that beard explains what his recovery diet has been — he's been eating raw bison liver with Leo.
it's playoff time. you should have known he'd have that beard...

Everyone with a brain who has been following this team should have known this. Not surprising to hear him say that.

Guys who risk their bodies and long term health to win championships have my undying loyalty. Bird, McHale, etc.

JE11 is in the category.

Freaking gamer.

Great News!!!! He makes such a difference to our offense. Having him, Amendola and Vollmer back should make a huge difference.

That's nice about basketball players from 30 years ago.

Last year, I can't think of anyone who came close to Donta Hightower..........................

And he saved the SB with that tackle of Beast Mode using his bad shoulder.

It all comes down to the Celtics of the 80s

Yes on Hightower.

Here's what I have gleaned from the information we have so far:

1. Edelman is running well, is comfortable and in no pain.

2. His quickness should be close to 90% or better, though I'll reserve judgement until I see him run a route like he did for the game winning TD in the superbowl

3. I've read where 20% of Jones fractures reoccur. Now I'm not sure whether that is 20% of all Jones fractures or just those from athletes. but there IS a significant percentage. On the plus side, the chance that it won't are much higher.

4. I think Edelman said it best " if it goes, it goes". The Pats have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Let him run out there for as long as he can. Whatever he gives us will be better than the alternative.
