I think they will try for kapernick

That would be good for us. The worst thing they could do would be to draft a promising talent and develop him.

That would certainly be the worst thing they could do for whatever rookie that fell into their clutches.

They'll overpay and re-up Fitzgerald.

Fine by me. Fitz is the type of QB that can get you to the playoffs, but you're never gonna win a SB with him.
That's probably true, but, if he ever got to the SB and if the Patriots were otherwise out of the picture AND if he were playing for just about any team but the Jets (or Colts), I'd be pulling for him to win it.

Imagine if the Jets have to pay Fitzpatrick more to stay than Brady is getting next year ($9 million base salary and $6 million prorated signing bonus).
The current "thinking" among NYC mediots is that they'll keep him and give him a two year contract at $8 a year plus incentives.

He's won over the locker room.

The fans, after years of Geno and Sanchez, are just happy to have a grownup at QB...they're not crazy about him, but they know they aren't going to do any better unless they can conjure up a sixth round draft pick who turns out to be the GOAT.

The mediots are giving him a big pass and a couple of "Get out of Jail Free" cards because they too understand that they aren't going to do any better and they've had enough of Favre- and Tebow-mania.

Tune. Slap yourself in the face or throw some cold water over your head...this is the Jets we're talking about..."draft a promising talent and develop him?"!!!!!...this is the J-E-T-S....Come on man!

You have to figure at some point they'll luck out with a draft pick, but as long as they focus on veteran retreads they won't have a franchise quarterback.

Just a thought...the subtext of this entire thread is an uncomfortable truth...Todd Bowles is actually a pretty darn good HC...I just hope that Woody Johnson's idiocy drives him away.

Have confidence that if they do luck out with a draft pick they'll screw him up before he's had a chance to succeed.

I think he should sign for that if that is the offer. Besides having a healthy Farve for 3/4 of a year, Fitz is the best qb they had in 10 years. While he may not be a long term solution for the jets, like previous posters have said they are built to win now.

if Kap is smart he will go somewhere where they can fix him

Once again, the JETS start prepping early for next year.......

Obviously there are knocks against fitz, however, if the Jets can find a palatable contract number, I think the Jets would be crazy to let him go. Finding just a modestly decent QB these days ain't easy (college is turning out QBs mostly unprepared for the NFL). And in the NFL if you don't have a modestly decent QB, you are a non factor by December.
IF the Jets were smart -- the Revis deal says they are not smart -- they would go find a new young promising QB and let him ride the pine to learn for a full 2 seasons under Fitz. If lightning in a bottle strikes with Fitz and they get a deep playoff run, they are ahead of the game. Otherwise they can stay somewhat competitive with Fitz while they groom the new QB of the future.

Translation: please come to New York, Peyton Manning. We love washed up QBs who want to end their career with a whimper.
Well, Willie Mays ended his career with the Mets.

Worth every penny of 18 million per. Make happen McLovin.

Kaepernick and RG III both might be available next year, while they have worn out their welcome in their respective teams.. with the right coaching they might be an improvement over the current QB's for the Jets and Bills..

Not sure if either one get enough penalties for Rex's liking though... he likes "spirited players"...
