Troy Brown on Patriots not being prepared for Super Bowl XLII

Says their heads weren't into it.

EDIT: FYI, the original title said "Freakin' Tomase!" but the link has nothing to do with Tomase. That was my titling. The link is about Troy Brown and how the Patriots didn't have their heads on right the week of the Super Bowl.

Didn't click on Tomasshole.

Troy Brown said on T&R that the last practice was a disaster. Other players have said the same thing.

That team had 503 elephants on their back. Stressed out. Drained.

His article and Spector made it worse but they were already in a bad spot mentally

I had heard the same in the past from other players on the 2007 team. And I'm pretty sure some of the players indicated Moss was one of the main culprits. Players said they just weren't in synch, they were tight, etc. I mean, they really didn't play great the last few games of the regular season...such a shame because had they won they would have been the best single team in the history of football without refute

the hotel accomodations were not good and it contributed to that disaster. also belichick was hard on them during the week when they were already tired. interestingly enough last year in arizona the pats made sure to get the same hotel that the giants used in 07' and belichick cancelled their last practice.

They just looked, to me, like a team that was completely burned out and banged up by the time that game came along. They didn't look like they were having fun anymore and some of the reports that have since come out have kind of confirmed that. Still, they almost pulled off the game and went undefeated in spite of outside circumstances and a vicious pass rush.

Yep. Didn't they move hotels in 07 as well?

Many players have said that BB drove them harder than any season before or since. His thinking was that the only way to deal with the perfection talk was to focus 110% on the littlest of little things to the point of being obsessive.

I forget which WR it was but early in SB week during practice he made a slant catch with his fingers in the wrong place and BB ripped into him a new one in front of the entire offense like no other time the entire year. He was not the calm and collected BB nor the BB we've seen on TV when he gets on players normally...this was Nuclear BB.

Seems to me BB was feeling the pressure too. Completely normal IMO.

What was so bad about the hotel accommodations? Go into detail

Purely anecdotal, but I remember the TV camera on the Pats in the tunnel just before they were announced. They looked distracted and spent — especially Brady. No fire at all.

I don't understand how he still has a job covering Boston sports. I haven't read any of his articles for years. People need to boycott him.

Seriously, who the f@ck reads his sh!t?

I've heard rumors that the Patriots were concerned the Giants were taping their practices. Which confirms the Giants cheated. Cheating cheaters.

I've always wondered if it wouldn't have been better to have lost to the Giants the last game of the year. It seemed like they gave too much of themselves in that game, to have to face that team again. I remember thinking " Please, not the Giants," as they went through the playoffs. Green Bay should have stopped them, after Dallas couldn't.
Thinking back on it, Spygate, Undefeated, Us vs. the NewNYNFL, and a Manning?

"In the grasp" is our version of the Tuck Rule. I swear I can find what it meant to us each time, and can prove we were correct, however, the officials found that it wasn't to be so. The Quarterback has to be in jeopardy. He was, or else it's a sack because his motion was going backwards, twice. That is the true emphasis of the "Jeopardy" rule.
Don't make me rehash the idea of whether it was a catch or not. I'll never agree that it was.

It's amazing to me that a team, about to play the biggest game of the year, and for some of them, the biggest game of their careers (Moss & Seau), couldn't get their heads right ? This just blows my mind. Especially a team that was 18-0 at the time, just insanely ridiculous that they'd even admit to that.
