Two things of note:

Stallworth, who played full seasons in 2004 and 2005, was not present for the team's passing camp last week, but he said it was not because of injury.

"I'm fine," he said. "It was a personal issue. Healthwise, I'm good."

Moss signed a contract that could be worth as much as $33 million over six years, though it has little up-front guaranteed money. The deal, which included a signing bonus of only $1 million, allows the Patriots to cut ties with him at minimal cost.

I thought Moss signed a one year deal.

Does anyone else think that Stallworth might be a little ticked inside he's not the number one reciever?

I'm thinking that unless we throw the ball every down, more than one receiver is going to feel underutilized and a little ticked off.

As long as he's used enough, and plays well enough, for the Patriots to pick up the contract option he'll be fine - if we should have learned one thing by now it's that for most players IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

If I was Stallworth I would be elated since Moss is gonna draw a double team most of the time.........I think Stallworth will be the #1 receiver because of Moss.....both will have AMAZING years

Ill tell you this...Stallworth will probably be the first or at worst second WR I pick when its fantasy time

But, BF, that's the whole thing, he took a discount to come here, and then after he signs, he finds out that he isn't going to be Brady's first option.

Not so much a discount, but a one year "show me" deal. If we pick up the option in February, he's paid handsomely :

"It's after the 2007 season, however, when the really big money kicks in. For the Patriots to retain Stallworth for the 2008 season, they must pay him an option bonus of $6 million by Feb. 25, 2008. There is a subsequent roster bonus of $2 million due on March 1, a second roster bonus of $1.6 million based on playing time, a base salary of $1 million and a $400,000 workout bonus. That totals an exorbitant $11 million for 2008"

Stalworth will be on Rome is Burning on ESPN at 4:30 this week. I don't know what day as they said "coming up later in the week" He will be a correspondant carrying around a video camera...i thought it was going to be from minicamp but since he's not there....

He is at minicamp.

He wasnt at Passing Camp because he had "personal matters"

But we don't know that yet. jmo but I think one of Moss' roles will be to draw coverage so that Stallworth can get it done. Also, given his attitude about coming here,I'd guess he knows how the Patriots roll and I assume he must accept it. Remember what his situation was prior to signing here-kind of humbling- and he's got an incentive-laden contract too.
It's all good in da hoodie:D

I wouldn't put too much into that. He's been in Foxboro full time since he's signed

If the Pats win a Super Bowl and both Stallworth & Moss show themselves to be team players and valuable contributors they will both be able to cash in on the free agent (or in Stallworth's case, the team's contract option) market.

They need not have career receiving years... they know this or else they would not have come here. A SB ring on the resume is what they crave - its still about money but I think they know the sum of the total is more than the parts around here and have bought into that philosophy.
