Rex is just asking for it (Rex on Dion Lewis)

would any of you, as the opposing coach, focus on dion lewis? c'mon - all rex was implying was that he will focus on brady, gronk and edelman.

That's beside the point. If they focus elsewhere, Lewis is likely to get a carry or pass and a guy who's so small, coming off a broken leg, given up on by everybody, just might have a little "I'll show you" in him and break one at a crucial time.

Good defensive coach, or not - I think Rex is an idiot

that happens to every team - focus on one or two threats and the others will benefit. belichick uses this game plan a lot. what is rex supposed to say, "I will focus on this dion lewis kid and leave gronk alone?". i realize dion lewis may have a little something on sunday, but my point was in defending rex. i don't think his comments were meant to be disparaging to dion lewis at all

While watching the game on Thurs and watching Lewis run, I noticed that he spins alot upon first contact and kind of runs a bit wildly. I was thinking that this guy is a fumble waiting to happen. Sure enough it happened. I hope he can keep running effectively and not have fumble issues.

His running isn't why he fumbled.

Rex is a blowhard and an excellent defensive mind. He's not a miserable SOB like Harbaugh and a lot of other two-faced creeps that infest the game. Rex is good for the game.

Blount should get the vast majority of reps.

In any case, this game is about NOT making a very weak quarterback look like an all-pro, as we have done several times in the past.

Blount is going nowhere behind that makeshift offensive line against that D.

This is nothing more than a case of nitpicking. In context, this quote is nothing more than praise for Brady. Rex was asked how New England gets performances like that out of "no-name runningbacks" like "the kid last week". And Rex basically said that because you have to gameplan for Brady it opens up running lanes.

Rex Ryan said:
"It's the kid that's playing quarterback. That'll make it a lot easier to be a running back," he said. "So what, are you gonna play them in eight-man spacing? I don't think so. So that's what makes them -- I don't care, put anybody back there. You can do good there. All right?

"Nah, I mean they're decent backs in their own right. But I don't think we're gonna focus on that kid. I can't even tell you that kid's name. But you're gonna focus on the guy throwing the ball, I'll tell you that much."

You missed my point entirely. Why give a young, aggressive player bulletin board material? It's stupid.

is he going to study harder? Come on, this is silly.

he's NOT in my opinion trolling dion lewis (or meant to be bulletin board materiam). that is where we disagree. your point (which you say i miss) is not ingenious or anything - I get it.

He's right. Patriots best player by a country mile is TB12-

I'll take a loudmouth Rex Ryan who owns his losses like a man before 95% of the others in the NFL who cry about the cheating, cheating, Cheatriots costing them the game with radio jamming and stealth-drones.

I know you've watched this team. Rodney, Bruschi, Brady. They'll tell you they took everything personally and delighted with a chance to stuff the big mouths.

Why do I even bother saying this?

Do you think they're taking an algebra exam, or playing a football game?

that Gronkowski guy is pretty good too
I'm with you. It's closer than folks think.

Brady is more valuable but Gronk is starting to border on transcendent.

I wonder why coach was talking about a parade after the game? After all, these guys are all professionals. They just need to study enough and execute. There's no emotion, resentment, pride, vengeance, just another day at the office, right?

50 seconds in

I see Shank Shaunsy has decided to give bboard material to the other AFC East teams, who, frankly, look better than they have in years.

I'm not linking the [limp] prick, but he called the Jets,
Buff, Miami zeros with no chance.
