I'll stop watching when I'm convinced the league is fixing or tilting outcomes through referees or NFL ownership. I do think they use the refs for this purpose but as long as BB is there not cooperating and overcoming it I cheer the Pats on.

I dont think they were able to overcome the pushing penalty and Gronk non call/hug. It cost them HFA.

You don't think stripping first round picks is "tilting outcomes"?

First Round pick #1 - The Patriots actually did it, and admitted guilt for Spygate.

First Round pick #2 - Your owner gave that pick away.

So no, it's not tilting outcomes.

Although I'll probably continue to watch as long as BB and TB are around, I don't support the NFL in any way.

1 . I've changed to a basic cable package that excludes NFLN and ESPN.
2. I used to watch 5 games/week. Now I just watch the Pats.
3. I now go out to watch the Pats so as not to give the NFL my ratings.
4. I no longer buy NFL merchandise of any kind.
5. I used to go to at least 1 game/year. I no longer go to games.

As much as I love football, the corruption of the NFL has ruined it for me. It's probably a blessing in disguise as there are much more meaningful things to follow than professional sports.

Patsfans forum tough guy, huh?

I'm not sure if this is tongue-in-cheek or not? This isn't a "you better not watch or I'll beat you up..." kind of post. I just thought it was interesting how many times we have "ESPN" "Mike and Mike" type threads and people saying "I don't like the NFL so I only buy Pats stuff" kinds of things that are on here frequently. The ESPN threads of late really, genuinely befuddle me. What did you expect? And why are you promoting it with posts that contain links? I just don't understand. There's no threat to that.

It's absolutely the right of anyone to do whatever the heck they want within the boundaries of the law. I just wonder sometimes if people realize how much they feed into the machine they complain about. It's so easy to get caught up...

I expected some people might disagree (which is cool too) but I really didn't expect a "tough guy" response. LOL

Yep! Trying to distract the Pats with nonsensical stories and media fueled witch hunts is tilting outcomes.

I dont think they were able to overcome the pushing penalty and Gronk non call/hug. It cost them HFA.

They also weren't able to overcome the intentional grounding call, a very rarely called penalty which could have easily been a miscommunication between QB and WR, and which also could have easily been intercepted, which brought a tired defense back out on the field after they had endured a long, scoreless Giants' drive.

That play gave the momentum to the Giants and may have made Welker's drop moot. That call may have cost them the game.

How about the clear fumble recovery by Pierre Woods that was given back to the Giants in 2008?

Did certain entities not want the Pats to win?

You know, I have to tell you, reading posts this offseason has been quite a trip. I've taken a step back from the NFL and it's been really good from a logic/rationality perspective. For those of us being critical of Kraft's lack of handling both of Goodell and Spygate, I'd like you to consider the following things we're doing that contribute to the problem. If you're really, truly angry about what's happening on a daily basis, it might be time to reassess your relationship with the NFL. Just my opinion.

1. "I can't believe what I just saw/read/heard on ESPN"

Why are you watching ESPN? Why are you giving them click-through hits? Why are you tuning in, getting Insider subscriptions, etc.? This behavior should have stopped back in 2007 when the network fell into a permanent anti-Patriots bias. They won't EVER stop with this behavior until such time as it hurts their ratings and clicks. Period. And not only are we clicking: we're retweeting, posting links on forums, etc. STOP IT. You can make as many angry posts as you like, but every darn time you tune in or click you're telling them to keep going.

2. "I'll only support the NFL while BB and Brady are there"

The NFL has no clue why you are supporting it when they rake in all that cash and revshare profit. None. As long as they are bringing in more money from ad revenue and merchandise than the previous year, they will continue down the path they are on. They are a for-profit entity. The money is literally all that matters and the only thing that binds them together as a group. If you want the NFL to change, you have to stop watching games and buying merch. This might be hard. But if you're unwilling to do it, you really need to temper your expectations.

3. "No, no. I only watch Pats games. I only buy Pats gear. I 'just support the Patriots.' "

The Patriots are part of the NFL. Guess who just told the NFL it's a good idea to have a 'bad guy' team in an entertainment sport? You did. The Brady jersey spike when all this mess heated up? Oh yeah, that was a big thumbs up for the league to keep behaving the way it was. It sucks, but the more you support the Pats, the more you are buying into the entertainment sports business model that this whole mess is really about. Buying Pats stuff and supporting the team doesn't send the league a message to stop. It sends the message that rooting for the bad guy is profitable.

Sorry for the long post, but it strikes me as odd when people are surprised Kraft caves to the league when we're doing it too. As long as you tune in and spend money on this nonsense it is never going away. Stick to independent forums like this one if you must follow the team. Having any interaction with official NFL and ESPN product is a major green light for the tools that have permanently tarnished the reputation of our beloved team. And sad as it is to say, official Team product is official NFL product too. Just remember that when you order.
The answer is that the game of football is so beautiful we just want it run well and covered well.

First Round pick #1 - The Patriots actually did it, and admitted guilt for Spygate.

First Round pick #2 - Your owner gave that pick away.

So no, it's not tilting outcomes.

A 3rd or 4th round pick would have been appropriate. A 1st round pick was draconian.

FWIW- I do too. I guess I was just considering that might not be possible if we keep supporting the people that cover it poorly.

MY owner? He might own some of these sheep, but he doesn't own me.

Gave that pick away? He just decided to go ahead and give that pick away, unbidden? There must be a hell of a story behind that that I've just got to hear. Do tell...

Yes I do but as long as BB finds ways to overcome it and doesn't lay down I'll root for the underdog Pats even though the rest of the NFL fans don't see us as underdogs.

Hurt the NFL: Don't buy NFL gear, CORD CUT, and I (ahem) heard that people watch European streams of your team's game

If you only do one, cord cut. When you cord cut the TV station that is hurt more than any other TV station out there is....drum roll... ESPN. That isn't hot air or anger saying that, that is a fact.
If 10% of all patriots fan either cord cut or opted out of a package(if possible) that does not include ESPN, you would be taking a couple million of gross profit away from ESPN over the course of this football season. Added with the general population cord cutting and ESPN will howl (which means the NFL does a little howl too).

After 17 years and plenty of $, I cancelled Sunday ticket. I'm outside NE so it will take some creativity no my part to watch the 8 or so games that are not nationally televised. I could go to a sports bar that has the package or find some other way but I chose NOT to support the NFL this year. One person won't make a difference but if enough people do.....

at this point just embrace it, I find it kind of funny how after we win in deflategate the response the Tuesday after is to rehash spygate. People think we cheat and I kind of enjoy it now. We really should be getting charged rent for the amount of time we spend in others minds. We are the NFL and if people think we cheat than they think the NFL is illegitimate by defacto.

When people cry about the Patriots cheating tell them not to watch because if we are or aren't you cant do anything to stop us.

Were cheaters*, were cheaters* and thats the way we like it!

Patriots*
NFL*
Football*
Superbowl*

whole league is tainted, deal with it or find a new sport.
I'd like to get to that place, where I can just embrace this nonsense and laugh.

Because let's face it, at this point it is funny… The week after the Brady ruling, all of the stuff comes out. It's so blatant.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to stop being pissed off.

Well, to be fair and complete, they also tried to take away his QB this time. They just got stopped by the court system.

This logic makes zero sense.
