Nooo!!! Tragedy!!!

My Direct TV main DVR went dead. They sent me a new one. Lost all my DVRed playoff games, SUPER BOWL, all the NFL Films replay stuff....EVERYTHING!!!! I'm so sad.

Out of curiousity. Is the hard drive in the DVR encrypted?

Hopefully, you can find access to most of it. Same thing just happened to me with the Xfinity/Comcast box, although now they claim that everything will be stored in the cloud with the latest one.

Not sure about Directv, as I only use them for the Sunday Ticket via the phone/ipad. I no longer have an active box with them.

Hookers and blow...hookers and blow...may as well pull a "Sheldrugs Richjunkieson the Jet" escapade until you get the new box.

The hard drive is the removable (screws I believe) on the back. Might be able to do something with that if you escalate it far enough.

Just don't send the box out to Ted Wells Electronics...he'll hack into it and Brady will be facing life in prison within a week...more likely than not. He uses that "Paid Liars Of Exponents" firm to extract the "data".

Just curious what your thought process was leading to the decision that this was worth starting a thread over. Also curious, are you a woman? Because I've known many a woman who -- when they feel sad about something yet are the only one who can do anything about it -- somehow consider it appropriate to make their sadness everyone else's business.

But perhaps you can find a solution by consulting this acknowledged expert:

Until I saw the PS, I thought this could be a really entertaining thread......until the inevitable locking or banning and the misogynistic (but probably really funny) comments......I was ready to fire up the popcorn at 6 am......

Yeah, I know. I added that qualifier after waking up feeling sorry for the poor guy ... unless he really is a woman.

My local cable provider raised my rates exorbitantly(33%) and when I called they told me I was lucky not to be billed more, so I switched companies last week.. lost all of the last SB memories that I had saved..

Maybe mentally I am just making space for this years run...

There is a way to get the playoff games and for that matter any game from last year within minutes of clicking. You just can't be opposed to using a torrent.

If you can get access to the hard drive, buy SpinRite (disk maintenance and recovery tool), attach the disk to your PC and the chances that you'll get everything back is great. It works.

This. The only thing I've been unable to find is 3 Games to Glory 4. I have the other three plus every significant game in recent memory.

Does Directv encrypt the files on the hard drives? That is the question. I know up here in duopoly central they encrypt them.

I am surprised nobody said in this thread: You can download all the games and the Superbowl. Don't ask me how and where. If you know how to use Google, you will find the light.
