This is my list and includes both regular season and playoffs. Keep in mind this is not most impactful per say (though impact matters) but best.

#10 Gostkowski - Again was the best kicker in the NFL. The Pats rarely gave a team good field position and he did not miss a single kick that really mattered and made the ones that did. He did not have much to do in the playoffs but I now feel about him 95% of the way I did for Automatic Adam.

#9 Collins - People will hate me for putting him so low. I think it is a hat tip to the guys above than a snub to Collins. He made good strides this year particularly in the 2nd half but still looked like the 2nd year player he was. I expect big things from him this year and I think he will leave his young mistakes and inconsistent play entirely behind

#8 Ninkovich - It is almost a crime to put him this low. So many snaps and did the job we needed him too. However while very good was not great. He deserves every bit of the pay raise he is getting this year though.

#7 Vollmer - Vollmer had almost an entirely healthy year and was back to his probowl caliber play. He was the consistently rock solid force on the line this year and you knew no matter what he would show up and hold his spot. His value this year can not be understated.

#6 Edelman - What a player. He not just a slot WR but showed outside chops several times. He Deion like now with how in sync he is with Brady. His punt returns continued to add a spark and he is a first down machine.

#5 Hightower - Speaking of LBs how about that Hightower? He had the kind of campaign I wish to see form Collins next year. The polish on his game is clear. His consistency and lack of mistakes elevated him as the best LB the Patriots had this year. A solid consistent force who is also now a seasoned play caller for the D. It really slowed down for him this year.

#4 McCourty - Very good in his spot and did everything they asked him too. A lot of people talk about his center field abilities but the amount of times he plays man from the FS spot might surprise you (given it is on the 3rd option usually). A player with sometimes underrated flexibility.

#3 Brady - This will piss some people off him being #3. He is the clear MVP of the team and it all runs through him. However he did not have the best individual year on the team. His playoff performance was fantastic and he was clearly our best player in those 3 games. This is a measure of all 19 though and to be frank he had some ups and downs.

#2 Revis - Revis was mostly Revis. Key word is mostly. He had a few hiccups and bad games kind of randomly place but when he needed to turn it on he could... mostly. Still it can not be denied IMO that the Pats this year were better offensively than defensively and that leads me to pick the #1 player

#1 Gronk - Gronk did not have the best start to the year much like Brady. He was tentative and unsure and it showed. He was in his head worrying about his injury. However it is no coincidence that in game 5 when Gronk decided it was time to put the pedal to the medal and hope he was truly healed that is when Brady got hot. It was not entirely because of Gronk playing like Gronk but that was probably the biggest reason. The difference is Brady kind of trailed off from games 12-15 of the year and Gronk did not. He was a force from week 5 on until they hoisted the championship. He simply is not coverable 1v1 and it allows everyone else to be freed up. It made things easier on Edelman and Lafell. He was IMO the best player for the Pats this season and if he managers to stay healthy will not just be the best TE to ever play and it won't be that close.

How do you rank them?

Every time these rankings arise, I give the same response. Brady was the most valuable and Gronk was the best compared to his positional peers. Revis was excellent, but Gronk compared to all other TEs was like American Pharoah in the Belmont. He's his own tier.

1- Brady
2- Gronk
3- Edelman
4- Revis
5- Hightower
6- Collins
7- McCourty
8- LaFell
9- Stork
10- Vollmer

Yeah no way you can not have Brady at #1 he makes everyone better

1. Brady
2. Gronkowski
3. Edelman
4. Collins
5. Hightower
6. McCourty
7. Vollmer
8. Wilfork
9. Revis
10. Ninkovich

This is a pretty good list but I would put Brady above Revis. Brady was clutch in the postseason and Revis really wasn't.
Dunno if I'd say he wasn't clutch but he didn't particularly stand out. He gave up a touchdown to Smith and then later had that bs penalty go against him. Touchdown in the SB was on the ref for picking him off. Played great vs the Colts and Seahawks as far as I can remember. Smith may have beaten him another time or two. But I'd say Brady is certainly above him.

He gave up a touchdown in the SB to Baldwin. Against the Colts he was mainly covering Reggie Wayne who is done.

Revis wasn't anything special, I don't think he was any better than Talib in 2013.

I know Revis isn't popular around here anymore but, how can you pin that touchdown to Baldwin on him? Ref clearly picked him off. Nothing you can do about that. Wish refs would work something out to prevent that crap. Broncos are especially great at making you run through the refs.

I don't think Revis was a major factor on the road to the SB. The best WR we faced during the playoffs was Hilton and Revis didn't even cover him. Revis was on the opponents #2 WR in many cases throughout the season. Browner would cover the #1 with McCourty doubling over the top. Against Nelson, Thomas, Wallace and Watkins, Green he gave up plays. He is not the Revis of 2011 anymore not even close. Which isn't even saying he is a less talented player - frankly the NFL doesn't even allow for CBs to be true shutdown corners anymore because of all the rule changes.

Revis allowed us to play man to man coverage with no safety help to his side and he still was our best corner. He was worth every penny we paid him.

I guess it's an unpopular opinion but I agree, I think Talib was Revis' equal when he was here. The only downside was his knack for injury at the worst times. But for their comparative contracts, Talib is absolutely the better value.

I agree Ross, Brady has to be number one. I know Revis had a sub par game against Baltimore but he shutdown whoever he was going up against in the afc chamionship game and the Superbowl. It was too much money to bring him back but if I had to rate the top 3 it would be Brady, Gronk and Revis.
Edleman and Collins would round out my top five.

Brady ... makes everyone better

Including the defenders, who usually start out with good field position, in part because of good ball security on the offensive side.

1. Brady
2. Gronk
3. Revis
4. Collins
5. Hightower
6. Edelman
7. McCourty
8. Stork
9.Lafell
10. Ghostkowski

Im surprised to see lafell isn't getting more love, he really helped open up the passing game.

Needs to be a top 12 list so Stork & Vareen can get in there.

I honestly don't understand how you can rank Brady #3. We are dead in the water without Brady. Patriots secondary gets way too much credit for just barely holding on, and collapsing in 30 seconds flat more than once (Packers, Seahawks, others). Without even going into anything else, this team was one-and-done against the Ravens without #12. Season over. Flacco or the Seahawks win another.

1. Brady
2. Gronk
3. Edelman.
4. Hightower.
5. McCourty.
6. Amendola.
7. Lafell.
8. Revis.
9. Ninkovich.
10. Someone else.
