Spikes released

I'm guessing no other team would have so quickly released a player. I'm also pretty sure there are scores of players in the NFL with worse infractions behind them.

Patriots microscope.

It's all ******** - trying to stay squeaky clean isn't going to help their reputation and isn't going to stop teh NFL from pounding them at every opportunity. Only losing will do that.

Pats have to be on their best behavior.

If what Spikes did was innocent in the end they can probably resign him in a month or three after the smoke clears.

Or it's like when Willie Andrews was busted.

I guess that "deer" was really a Deere as in John Deere.

Spikes is an absolute moron. Decent enough player, but a complete and utter moron.

Hopefully spikes's release keeps the media at bay.

Actually OnStar calls you if the airbag is deployed to see if you need medical assistance, or the Bambi rescue squad....
Ok.

Good to know! We have OnStar and have only used it to get directions.

Bambi rescue squad...:)

Frankly, this doesn't seem that bad. But it is Spikes, who has a history of issues with the team. And it is Patriots, who are probably extra sensitive to public perception right now.

Don't know, maybe there are other details, but while this is bad at a personal level, I'm surprised the team cut him because of it. I wonder what facts we don't know...

I'm not surprised. Team doesn't need the headache.

I hope BB isn't making decisions based on media reaction. He should stick with his mantra of doing what's best for the team. The media is going to come down hard no matter what, so make decisions for the best of the team so we can see the Pats in the SB next season and the one after that.

If the other family's car was rear ended as a result of him and he was sober I'd imagine he would have helped the people, called 911 to report the accident and stayed at the scene. However the fact that it looks like he drove further until the car gave out, abandoned it and couldn't find the "deer" is awfully fishy...

What an idiot, I thought he could be a valuable asset for us but he really screwed up his chances to make a team this year and I don't think other teams will sign him for a while now.

Probably DUI

We're on to Dane Fletcher.

Not that they were in any way similar, but, yeah, this.

At least Fletcher didn't get into trouble, FGK house notwithstanding. :)

Just not a very smart man.

Thats my suspicion as well which isn't a big revelation. He was hammered. Smashed his car into something. Kept driving. Banged into the Murano. Called OnStar. Called a buddy to pick him up before the cops showed up.
Supposedly the cops were there within 10 minutes of OnStar ... he was definitely in the woods.

Per 98.5:

Driver not identified
120+ MPH traveling speed
80-85 MPH hitting back of Nissan
275 ft skid marks
Good lord he's lucky he's not dead ........

Good lord he's lucky he's not dead ........
He needs to figure his life out immediately.

Put football aside, with how he approaches life he won't make it past 40.

Going at those speeds and most likely drunk he probably thought he killed somebody in the other car and ran as fast and far as he could before having someone pick him up.

I hope BB isn't making decisions based on media reaction. .

I don't think it's BB. It's the guy whos name is on the checks that is calling the shots.
