Annual CBS sports draft game, what are your picks?

Your first three picks are close to perfect. Byron Jones at 64 probably ends up being somewhat ambitious however.
You're probably right. CBS sports has him ranked at 55 right now so I'm within the rules. I expect he is going to shoot up the boards as draft approaches.

This is strictly based on the CBS NFL Draft Scout rankings as of 3/31, not who I think they will pick come draft day
32. Jake Fisher OL Oregon
64. Xavier Cooper DT Washington St
Swap of 3rd round picks with NYJ for tampering with Revis. The precedent has already been established for this and the comments that Woody Johnson made were nearly verbatim to what the league sent out as an example to all the teams before the season started. NYJ will also lose a 2016 5th rd pick (they don't have a 2015 5th rd pick)
70. Ronald Darby CB Florida St
97 c Marcus Hardison DT Arizona
101. Jarquiski Tartt SS Samford
131. Mitch Morse OL Missouri (not just because he has the same last name)
177, Tyler Varga RB Yale
219. Kyle Emmanuel OLB North Dakota St
253. Marcus Rush OLB Michigan St.

While it has been fun for the past few weeks to play around with mocks that incorporate some kind of tampering punishment, I guess we can stop with it now given how Atlanta was punished with a 2016 pick. There is precedent now to assume that this years draft will be unaffected by all of that.

give me Carl Davis, Kevin Johnson, and Tyler Lockett and ill be happiest fan ever.

I have some trades going down in the early parts of the draft. I am not going to try to predict the trade partner or specific picks that will change hands. For now we will assume that we trade down from #32, trade up from #64, and the remaining picks remain (about) the same.

RD 1: #32 (trade down): Quinten Rollins - CB - Miami
RD 2: #64 (trade up): Carl Davis - DT - Iowa
RD 3: #96: Josue Matais - OG - Florida State
RD 3: #97(not tradeable): Mike Davis - RB - South Carolina
RD 4: #101: Lorenzo Mauldin - OLB - Louisville
RD 4: #131: Kenny Bell - WR - Nebraska
RD 6: #178: Ben Beckwith - OG - Mississippi State
RD 7: #220: Alani Fua - LB - Brigham Young
RD 7: #254(not tradeable): Andrew East - LS - Vanderbilt.

I like Rollins the most of the CB prospects, reminds me of McCourty when he was coming out of Rutgers, a raw, high effort/intelligence player with 4 down potential. I really wanted Eddie Goldman at DT but Davis is a nice consolation prize.

I see Matais and Davis as day 1 contributers. Mauldin can compete with Buchanan and Bequette as a back up pass rusher. Bell is another effort/character guy with good acceleration, route running and blocking. Not likely a 2015 contributor but maybe someone who grows up into the offense. I like Beckwith as a developmental guard to challenge Devey for a roster spot. I picked Fua because he is tall, ranked around #220, and that is all. LS seems to have been an issue lately, so I have one picked as well.

The Patriots picks:
RD 1: #32
RD 2: #64
RD 3: #96
RD 3: #97(not tradeable)
RD 4: #101
RD 4: #131
RD 6: #178
RD 7: #220
RD 7: #254(not tradeable)

Go!!!

Too difficult with trades so:

1. Odigizuwa (DE)
2. Grasu (if he can play guard, otherwise Trey Jackson) (G)
3. Tartt (SS)
3. John Miller (G)
4. Ogbuehi (OT)
4. Kroft (TE)
6. Shaq Mason (G) (Too many guards? Can't have too many guards. But, RB Dominique Brown is option here)
7. Ellis McCarthy (DT)
7. Filon (DT) (a Soph. early departure).

The Patriots picks:
RD 1: #32 Eddie Goldman DT
RD 2: #64Tre Jackson, OG
RD 3: #96Marcus Hardison DE
RD 3: #97 Steve Nelson CB
RD 4: #101 Eric Rowe, DB
RD 4: #131 Zack Hodges OLB
RD 6: #178 Ladrius Gutner (I know, had a slow 40 time. But why do others coaches not throw to his side ?Love his size, arm length, ball skills, and tackling skills)
RD 7: #220 Miles Dieffenbach OG
RD 7: #254 Andrew East LS- in case no one noticed - we don't have a LS on the roster yet -must be great if he's rated a 7th round pick.

It's too bad Draft Scout doesn't update their rankings, it would make this exercise more realistic in terms of likely draft status. As it stands now guys like Jones and Marpet are going to go considerably higher than ranked here. I do think however that the Patriots are in very good shape with five picks in the first 101, and a strong possibility of another top 40 pick coming from the Jets. They should have no problem addressing their needs and adding really good prospects in this draft.

Here goes.......

#32) T. J. Clemming's OL Pittsburgh. Cameron Erving and Kevin Johnson were off the board and Clemming's is the best prospect left to fill the vacant LG spot.

#64) The Patriots trade the #64 and the #96 picks to the Eagle for the #52 pick.

#52) Byron Jones CB UCONN Jones has freakish athletic ability and could turn into an exceptional corner for them if he takes to their coaching.

#97) Marcus Hardison DL ASU Hardison is somewhat of a project but has good upside and teamed with Easely inside on passing downs could give them a very disruptive interior pass rush.

#101) Steve Nelson CB Oregon State Nelson is a tough physical corner who would challenge for a spot in their defensive backfield and could end up in the rotation if any falter.

#131) Chris Conley WR Georgia Conley was a combine standout and a burner who could provide the deep threat they are missing.

#177) Trade with the Eagles The Patriots give the Eagles #177 and Josh Boyce for Evan Mathis OG

I haven't done #220 or #254 yet.

Hadn't done this for awhile so I wanted to add to it. Definitely took advantage of the rules and also made two trades, one up and one down. I think the Pats could really revamp their defense with a draft like this.

32 Eddie Goldman DT FSU
A much discussed player on this board, I am still very high on him and what he would allow the defense to do.

64 Jalen Collins CB LSU
Probably shouldn't be here, but injury knocks him down. Has the ability to play press coverage, has the length BB is looking for and the athleticism to be special if he puts it together. Not my top pick at CB, but amazing value at this point.

Trade 96 to Minnesota for 110 and 137

97 Buck Allen RB USC
Don't love this pick, but I believe RB is one of the biggest needs and Allen can run, block and catch out of the backfield. Has the ability to be the 3rd down RB right away but also to start taking away carries from Blount. Brady deserves all the weapons they can give him.

101 Marcus Hardison DE/DT Arizona State
Now combined with Goldman, the D-line has been improved and would be one of the deepest in the league. Hardison can play multiple positions and techniques on the line and would be a great chess piece for BB. Imagine Goldman and Hardison to go along with Branch, Siliga, Easley, Jonesx2, Ninkovich, and Sheard?

110 Ty Sambrailo OT/OG Colorado State
Would look to pick him inside, has the size and athleticism to thrive in the Pats O-line scheme and compete for a starting position right away.

Trade 131 and 220 to Indianapolis for 128 (I assume they'd still trade despite what happened)

128 Alex Carter CB Stanford
Not as good in man coverage, but like Collins, is a very good press corner. Even if he doesn't start right away, could compete on special teams and in the red zone. Could use him like Browner with safety help over the top. Obviously the DBs wouldn't be the same without Browner and Revis, but I believe Collins and Carter would allow them to play similar to last season, especially with an improved front 7.

137 Ben Heeney LB Kansas
Speaking of improving the front 7, it would be great to add one of the more athletic and quality coverage linebackers in the draft at this point. He would take the roster spot vacated by Casillas. Would be a great special teams player as well.

178 Shaq Mason OG/C Georgia Tech
254 Jarvis Harrison OG/OT Texas A&M

Maybe a bit of an overload at the interior Oline, but Mason is super athletic and would give the Patriots a backup (and insurance policy with his injury history) for Stork who could also compete for time right away. Harrison is one of the most underrated players on CBS (some places have him as a 2nd or 3rd rounder even). He handled LT and LG in the SEC and has the size Coach DeGuglielmo looks for.

Though maybe a bit unrealistic, I for one would love if this is how the draft turns out. The defense might actually be improved and would be young enough to continue the dynasty. Brady would add another quality RB and hopefully his OL would be improved.
