So the fish cut Hartline and are trying to trade Wallace. Interesting strategy....

For fans of getting a WR3 in free agency, atleast more realistic possibilities are showing up.

It does? I doubt that.

I think for the most part, most here would be happy to take Amendola on a reduced contract. I have not seen anyone that has not. If you have let me know.

So, I will assume that if these posters feel that he is worth bringing back, he can be counted on.

In summary - why would anyone here want any WR back who could not be counted on regardless of salary?

The Patriots priority this offseason has to be getting their own guys back. But the more cheap or vet min and flier options out there, the better. I do expect we'll sign several of those guys. And I'm specifically looking for anybody that was cut so it doesn't affect the comp picks.

I doubt you could find any rational and reasonable poster who really thinks Amendola can be counted on, because he's proven the opposite throughout his career. In fact, it may well be an excellent bright line test of a person's sanity.

1.) Euphoria about SB win

2.) Late season play overriding season long impressions

3.) His history is inconsistent, but does show ability to be a player. You can't count on him, but you can hope for a good year.

Interesting prior to last year Brian Hartline is just removed from back to back 1,000 yards seaons.

I will agree that that winning helps and he did contribute. His history is very inconsistent but I think most of it is due to injury. It seems that when healthy he can produce.

If we want to discuss the ability to count on him to stay healthy. That would be something I would be more worried about. If he is used as a 3rd WR, and with kickoffs, and in punt returns (where he has done well) and of course as a backup to JE who has had injury problems too, then he may be a great fit - at the right $.

I'm just talking about the idea of people being sure he can be counted on. Anyone who feels that way, particularly after his Patriots tenure to date, is crazy. I'm pretty sure that most people will still admit that, while they were 100% hopeful that Gronk would remain healthy last season, there wasn't a whole lot of confidence that it would happen.

It's nothing personal against Amendola. It's just the reality of his track record.

I like Harry Douglas. He might do well here. He had some success in Atlanta when Jones and White were both out.

Not sure, but we know Belichick loves rescuing stranded Dolphins. :p

Oh I agree. I was worried JE would never stay healthy. And the way he plays makes an injury more likely. Guy has no "off" switch.

I guess the issue is - If we get rid of DA we need someone to count on. Dobson is a question mark. Then its someone outside the organization. So, at that point is the gamble you take to get someone who might stay more healthy, but might not jell with TB or be good in the locker room worth it?

I think with DA its the "devil you know" situation.

I follow Courtney Fallon who is a sports reporter (formerly from Providence, RI, but moved to Miami for several years). She has several tweets about Hartline that make me think we are better off with what we have.

Have to say this from a reporter's perspective: Once Brian Hartline got his money, his attitude changed. Completely. Ego through the roof.

who is he going to replace? he doesn't do special teams, so he's not a good replacement for someone like amendola......I don't think the fit is good

I am expecting bigger things from LaFell.......from week 5 on, his catch/tgt percentage was the same as edelman and he was basically a 1200 yard guy......this is the only place hartline's catches could come from so I'll pass....as a replacement for dobson? ok.....if he takes the minimum

I think Brian Hartline would be a good #3 mike Wallace I think will be cut as well but pats don't have the cap for him even at 6 million per

I'd cut DA and bring in Hartline.

And Chris Canty up front.

I'd take Canty too.
