Boom!!! In 3AM Saturday Morning Tweet Jerry Rice Falls on His Sword

I know people wont like this but at least he manned up to it...that took a LOT, his legacy is on the line.

I am grateful he came out.

The truth will set you free..

Jerry Rice may be the greatest WR of all time*, but he is a hypocrite and a horrible person. Even after admitting he cheated, instead of the issuing an apology to the Patriots and Brady, he uses the "everyone did it excuse" and he was just "leveling the playing field". When Patriots defenders used that excuse with Spygate, I am sure that he was the first to call them out on it.

BTW, in recent years, Rice has criticized WRs for using modern day receiving gloves that have some tack on them to make it easier to catch footballs even though they are legal.

Next to the Jets the 49ers may be the biggest cheaters in the history of the NFL. Stickumgate, Radiogate, Salarycapgate.

For some this will be termed as "competitive advantage", all the while the Pats will be called cheaters, even though nothing has been proven..

From an espn article on Lester, the cheater, Hayes...

The banishment of Stickum after the 1980 season really had an impact on Hayes. Despite setting a Raiders record with 39 career interceptions in his 10-year career, he said he became "a mere mortal" after the league outlawed the substance (and cited him as a major reason for the rule).

"I'm thankful I played during the 1970s and 1980s because I was part of some great Raiders teams," Hayes said. "But if I had been born in 1985 instead of 1955, everything would've been different. I would've been one of those defensive backs you see chasing receivers every Sunday on 'SportsCenter.' I have no question about that."

But it's not the truth. His tweet indicates that after doing his research he now realized stickum was illegal. That contradicts what he said in the ESPN piece 'I know it was illegal...'. So in reality he didnt really own up to anything. He just lied

He also took a shot at Odell Beckham saying his catches were a product of his gloves. And that if he had played with the same gloves he'd have 44,000 yards. The guy is a narcissist to the max.

You used STICKUM, like shut up already.

Actually if I recall correctly, the stickum does get on the ball but it makes it harder to throw because the ball does not release cleanly . I remember Plunkett or whoever the Raider QB was at the time saying this back when Lester Hayes would coat ... Literally...his entire body and uniform with the stuff.
i remember hayes wearing a white raiders uniform, it was Covered in stickum, so weren't his arms and hands. Hays was the catalyst in getting stickum banned. If you remember rules didn't change much in the nfl in those days. So it was a big deal when stickum was banned, it was talked about for most of the season,at least thats what i remember.

He knew it was illegal, so no idea why he bothered tweeting this!

I don't see any * on his Superbowls!

I think we all know Tiger cheated. It's why his wife went after him with a three iron.

Cheated with different balls...

There's also this little story about Rice:

"I think they played a trick on me. I was there five minutes" - Sure, sure.

I think the lesson for great retired players is, when a team comes close to matching your accomplishments, just say "I know from experience that what they did is extremely difficult to do, so my hat is off to them. It takes a great team effort as well as some great individual efforts. I still think my team would win in a head-to-head matchup, though."

The people that protest the loudest are the ones that have done similar things during their careers. The hypocrisy is unbelievable !

MITCH !! Glad to see you're still alive and well. Real football talk spoken here. :)

Going to be nice watching that 4th Champions Banner unfurled at The Razor . !!

Hey AF! Yep its nice to be able to discuss football on a football message board. I don't miss the other place a bit. I haven't even looked at it in months. Although I am a little curious if Ray Ray's head exploded after the Pats won #4

In before Brady recants his liking of his home team 49ers! :)

Good player but in light of his admitted cheating the league should retro actively review some of his most unbelievable catches like that 3 finger one and remove yards and any TDs associated with suspicious play. He cheated and admitted to it. Like Jerry said it's an edge over the other team.

If the Rats cheat in the woods, and there isn't an Omissioner there to ignore it, is it still cheating?
