Sherman congratulates Brady

I am saying he did what 99% of the players on the losing team do every week of the season. They congratulate the winners. Are we going to give Sherman brownie points for that? Are we really setting the bar that low?

Tom Brady trash talks win or lose. Just drop it. Stop trying to trash a great competitor. It literally has zero effect on the game. It deserves none of our time. It's less than nothing is what I'm saying, and it's silly of you to point it out.

LOL! Sherman is a great player, but he is also a loud mouthed A-hole. I am not trashing him. I am pointing out the obvious, He constantly needs to show up every other CB in the league and his competitors by trash talking to the media, social media, yelling out his bedroom window.

He did the right thing at the end of the game. It doesn't change the fact that he is a major a-hole and poor sport most of the time.

Brady threw at Sherman 1 time all game. Regardless of Sherman's lack of maturity, intelligence and class, he is still playing the game at a superior level.

Ps: important note: Sherman gets a lot of safety help in that Seattle zone defense, plus the Seattle linebackers get great drops to help take away the underneath.

It's one thing to talk trash in the game and in the heat of the moment. But to take cheap shots on social media?

So **** talking is only ok during certain situations because arbitrary reasons. Got it.

I'd be a lot more appreciative of this if he didn't mock Revis mid-game. But good for him.

Sherman is a complete nutter from kickoff until the clock reads 0:00.

Any time after that, in general, he comes across as a very well-read, well-spoken, and classy individual.

That mock has given us the pictorial answer to the questions
  1. So, Richard, how many points did you lose by?
  2. So Richard, how many Lombardis does Brady have now?

It's sort of a beautiful turn of events, don't you think?

The guy is like a wrestling heel. Villains are fun because they drive you mad when they win, but beating them makes the feeling so much more satisfying. Losing tonight doesn't change that what he does works and should continue to work. I wish Seattle had a game at Foxborough coming soon. Would be hilarious.

BTW, reports are that Thomas was playing with a separated shoulder and Sherman was playing with an elbow that's going to need surgery, so props to those guys for going the distance. They gave it a hell of a go, and that kept on even after they lost Lane to that Gronkesque broken arm.

That was horrible. It looked like Theismann's leg.

Yep. When the report came back that he was questionable/doubtful(?), to return, I turned to the others in the room and snorted in disbelief. You don't air cast like that for questionable/doubtful(?). You air cast like that for "This boy's gonna need surgery ASAP".

I'm amazed that people still don't realize that in-game Richard Sherman is just a character, a wrestling heel. When he's out of character, he's an intelligent, soft-spoken dude.

Sure, he makes me want to punch him in the face for four quarters, but he's just putting on a show. His respect for other players is genuine.

Nailed it right here. Sherman's persona is all about marketing and branding. He is a smart man, and knows that there is room for his attitude in the league, and he is capitalizing. He is the mouth piece of the defense by design. The "you mad bro" shot was brilliant. He sells You Mad Bro hoodies on his website for $60. Kraft even said it during his response to Sherman's statement about Goodell and Kraft, Sherman knows why Goodell and Kraft were together after the game, but being the player to make the statement got him free publicity.

Sherman Graduated H.S. second in has class academically, and then went to Stanford. He is smart, He knows what he is doing when he talks trash, and the smart players (Brady included) know what he is doing as well. He is building an image, and building a brand, and he will leave the league many millions of dollars richer because of it.

It was classy but it was too little too late. Unclassy all the way until the end of the game.
I look at it like playing poker with family. during the game you can trash talk and say things you don't mean to keep in the moment. Afterwards, nothing stays personal and you go back to normal.

Just a fun way to get rid of any tension and show your competitive edge.

Sherman talks a lot of BS...he brings it to the media, which is the part I can't STAND. But he's an incredible competitor and was gracious in defeat.

I won't say I fully respect him for how he brings game-day trash talk into the media spotlight, but he at least backs up his own trash talking and doesn't turn into a sore loser.

Some of the other jackasses on that defense? Screw 'em. It had to have been hard, the run of emotions seeing your team on the 1-yard line with the best back in football to not having the ball, but that was an embarrassment. First Bennett jumping offsides when they still had a tiny shot (safety, runback), then the BS after Brady's kneeldown. Unacceptable nonsense, but then when a coach allows his players to think they're bigger than the game this is what happens.

Anyway, good for Sherman, I honestly didn't expect any less from him.

At least he manned up and was a good sport, unlike that Irvin punk

Yeah, after his team lost their collective minds and started a fight...So I guess give him credit for finding a quantum of class there at the end.

I agree and like the points you make but disagree on the extent of the trash-talking. Initially I thought Sherman did the trash talking on the field and get under the skin of the opponents tp make them do some dumb things that would benefit Seattle. Which IMO was a very shrewd and calculated move.

Though the above is true, what I couldn't stand is Sherman ontinue that trash talking even days afte the game and in social media after the heat of the game is cooled off.

During the media day, he kept pouting and pointing to Brady being a trash talker and yes Brady is, but biggest difference is Brady does it during the friggin game and turns the switch off the final whistle blows. Brady then goes the opposite way and does not diss anyone in the public and in fact, goes way out to praise them.

I think that is an important swtich that Sherman either doesn't have or maybe doesn't know or doesn't care to use it.

That decreased my respect for him as an individual off the field, but i have the highest respect for him when he is on the field, especially playing so well in this SB given his injury.

GO PATS!!
