It's Time for Goodell to Go

NO MG...it doesn't mean that at all...it means we're NOT STUPID DRONES. When has what any fan has ever called for ever been taken seriously? What you are implying is WE should shut up and say nothing. No thanks. YOU can take your own advice, I'll continue to think for myself.

"It's also an open secret in league circles that some owners, especially Woody Johnson of the Jets, resent the preferential treatment Goodell is perceived to extend to his inner circle. (As the football world waits for the commissioner's decision on whether to punish the Patriots for Deflategate, many are wondering how his relationship with Kraft will affect Goodell's ruling.)"

This leads me to believe more and more that deflategate was started by his underling Kensil and not by Goodell himself. It's as if Woody Johnson set up two things to happen, one is to discredit Kraft and the Pats and two is to provide ammunition to oust the commissioner.

However you feel about Goodell, it certainly paints a picture of ineffective leadership at the moment.
Further evidence that Johnson is an idiot. Since 2007 what team has been punished more than the Pats and what team has received more wristslaps than the Jets despite tripgate etc. Of course, if you believe that Goodell destroyed the tapes as BB said because they showed other teams including the Jets doing the same thing the Pats were punished for, then you have to question the intelligence of Kraft to support the POS.

I wish that Commish jobs were like Presidential terms, so we could get this joke out of here.

Unfortunately as long as the owners like him, there's no way getting him out unless he steps down himself.

When Florio, of all people, posts pieces like this about R. Stokoe Goodell's blind ambition and lack of stewardship, it feels like there's something in the air.

The current case has received much greater attention and scrutiny because of the profile of the team, coach, and quarterback involved — and because of Spygate. But that made it all the more important that the NFL crafted a clear, reliable plan for connecting underinflated footballs to deliberate misconduct. Apparently, the NFL didn’t.

Which in some ways makes this a lot like the Ray Rice case, only with different players and different details. The incompetence of an organization shows itself in many ways, especially when the organization is confronted with an unusual situation. The NFL’s handling of unusual situations in recent months has been quite unusual indeed, and the impact of this specific incident on the Patriots could be the tipping point for prompting one of the most influential owners in the sport to demand significant changes at 345 Park Avenue.

From PFT

The incompetence of an organization shows itself in many ways, especially when the organization is confronted with an unusual situation.

This is the issue though, they were in fact faced with a very usual situation. A ball that mid game felt to be in the 10.5-11.5 range. Why measure it? And if you did, why think it's exraordinary. It's nearly impossible that there weren't dozens of cold weather games played with balls at that same pressure or lower, yet no scrutiny except for the Patriots.

I really think this is the beginning of the end for Goodell. Kraft was clear, he thinks the NFL owes him an apology.

So either Goodell effed up, or he is too incompetent to stop his underlings from effing up.

If he says the Pats are guilty, he makes a powerful enemy.

If he says they're innocent he needs to explain why he let the SB be tainted by his incompetence.

Coming off the Rice thing...it's just not good business to have someone almost universally despised and mistrusted as the public face of your organization. Owners may be a lot of things. But bad businessmen is probably not one.

The Ray Rice situation should have been the end of Goodell. Now, of course, all the attention is off the Ray Rice travesty. In fact, this has gotten more attention than the Ray Rice situation. Goodell hoping to sweep it under the rug.

Matt Chatham tonight on NESN had an interesting observation. He said the league leaked the locker room attendant nugget to Glazer in retaliation over BB's Saturday press conference and the Patriots' internal investigation. He said Goodell is very reactive and petulant. Interesting stuff.

Lets hope deflate gate is the straw that breaks the camels back and the owners fire Goodell. He needs to go.

I am looking forward to what he is going to leak after Mr. Kraft called him out....

Color me shocked.

Here's the thing, if these leaks are true, then it means he's either doing them, or he's too inept to prevent them from happening nearly every few hours. If its his plan to sling mud, he's a very stupid man. But we already knew that.

Fans can say whatever they want. I simply indicated that Goodell is supported by the owners. With regard to him being hired and fired, that is all that matters. I also implied that is all that should matter.

I thought it was really obvious that it was retaliatory. The way the league has treated this franchise is disgraceful and I am really glad they are calling bull sh.t on it. They're going to the mattresses.... About time.

I'm starting to believe the leaks are intentional and that Goodell is a power-hungry child willing to tarnish "the shield" if it suits his agenda.
