Like my level headed Eagles friend told me today, "you guys are in the Superbowl all this nonsense of deflate gate and spygate just an excuse for losers to find a reason why the Pats are so good every year. Players still need to catch run tackle block and cover and the Patriots do that better than anyone for the past decade." Pretty much agreed with him we are in our 8th Superbowl as a franchise let's enjoy this and ignore the negativity like our players are

ESPN right now is running a segment about their testing today revealing that the footballs being under inflated to the extent that the 1st half balls were under inflated, allowed for a "1.5% better grip but were thrown with less velocity."

1.5% better grip rofl.

This story is a joke and just demonstrated how little credibility the media has, and how STUPID people are who buy into this rubbish

Yep. Mark Brunell 'has been' killing me all day with his examples and stuff. 1.5% better grip, is he kidding me?

making up their own stories? so in your fantasy world NFL is not investigating the patriots?

The NFL investigates any allegations of wrong doing. Right now they're investigating what, IF ANYTHING, happened to the footballs that were already cleared by officials. I realize in your world of low IQ idiocy this means that they're "investigating Patriot criminality," but that ISN'T what it means.

ESPN is OPENLY ADMITTING that the ONLY REASON they're even talking about this is "because it's the Patriots."

If during the game, the announcers said in passing "The officials are getting some new footballs because the other ones are under-inflated," and that was the end of it, there isn't a thread on this forum with five billion replies, and you aren't throwing around accusations.

You let the media dictate to you what is real, and what isn't. I'm so sorry our public school system has failed you in such spectacular fashion.

Nobody with a functional brain believes that Bill Belichick decided "we need to get a 1.5% better grip on the football for this game against the Colts, so let's sneak in and deflate the footballs after they've been cleared."

Exactly! It's like driving 50mph in a 35mph zone for several years without being caught. Then one day the cops give you a ticket. What will you do next time on that same road? You will go at 35mph as you know there are cops around. What does BB do? He will go at 60mph! The risk is so high and reward is so minimal - why would he do this? So tough for us fans.

exactly. To put the team image in jeopardy after Spygate just demonstrates his hubris, we sow what we reaped

11 out of 12 of OUR footballs were deflated, none of colts footballs were. Like it or not that just gives the perception of impropriety.

nice strawman argument you twat, because I said that Patriots were criminally responsible right
sorry the media didn't dictate that 11 of the 12 balls to be deflated. that is reality. You can whine all you want, this forum is a good sounding board for your angst ridden adolescent woe is me diatribe. But reality is there is an active investigation with a team that has a history of these allegations.

And don't put yourself in bill belichick's shoes, you certainly aren't fit to do that type of role playing

They are investigating the Patriots, but some of these "journalist" are putting their own spin on this non-issue and making it out to be much bigger than what it really is. Fines and losing a draft pick? I'm sure Kravitz pulled that one from his backside, but now Goodell is considering it, because thousands of butt-hurt fans all over the country agrees with him.

Sensationalized journalism is what gives the perception of impropriety. It would be nice to know, what the PSI on the Colts' footballs were prior to the start of the game and what they were by half-time. If their balls also dropped 2lbs, then the Pats weren't trying to gain an edge anymore than Indy was. I find it hard to believe that the Patriots would be dumb enough to deflate 11/12 balls (at exactly -2lbs) without thinking they were gonna get caught. The only explanation for this is they were 2lbs under the requirement when the refs approved them. The same types of balls were reportedly used during the Indy game, indoors , it must be a preference for Brady, instead of a weather adjustment thing, so I'm assuming, most of his games are played with deflated balls, that were mostly approved by the ref staff, until some punks got embarrassed Sunday and complained to the media and the league. In order to protect the league, Kraft is gonna have to take the blow, in order to protect the league and that's what's gonna suck in the end. As much as I want this to go away and hope it turns out to be nothing. That ain't gonna happen at this point.

Did Blount look like he was carrying a ball with no air in it within a clenched fist? There is no difference. The only thing the ball looked to be doing was throwing off Tom Brady's passes with under throws until the problem was fixed in the second half. I will bet anyone anything that this was not intentional on the part of the Patriots organization, or with any intent to get a competitive advantage.

Again, this is only a story because it's the Patriots. After all, what we're talking about here is a ball that was one pound of pressure per square inch lower than regulation. It's the media making a mountain out of a mole hill for sensationalism and ratings.

You're an idiot. If you were alive in another era of human history, you would of been eaten by something by now.

Under inflated footballs. Holy ****, let's invade Iraq.

Your posts are all emotion driven *****ing which is fitting cause you do have an emo girl as your avatar so maybe it's a persona you don proudly.

But games are played within confine of rules. Whether the rules make sense to you or not is not what's being debated here or even really pertinent. It's whether the rules were followed. Once you can reconcile that, then you are ready for the adults table.

Ok, Professor. This is where I ask you the following: What reason specifically would the Patriots sneak into a room and deflate balls and what competitive advantage is it proven to give anyone?

And after that is where you say, "I don't know, I'm just rambling like a moron."

it's not about one half of a football game

ravens brought it to colts attention, most other fans already claiming that we must have done the same thing in that game

look, if you know the rest of the league is out to get you and you still behave in a way that gives the impression/perception of impropriety then the backlash is on you.
Where did you hear this? Didn't Harbaugh say the opposite.

Just stop. You're embarrassing yourself. Not only is there NO evidence right now that anyone intentionally let air out of the balls, but there is most certainly NO evidence that Belichick was involved.

This is why people like you are called trolls and your fanhood questioned. Stop perpetuating these storylines that have no confirmed basis in reality

Most members of the media in general have biases and sport media guys in particular, do. They grew up fans of sports and teams and that's in large part why they got into the business in the first place.
I live in Toronto and I was listening to the Fan 590 this afternoon. One of the host of the afternoon, Sid Seixeiro, had former NFL QB Shawn King on his program to discuss 'Deflatgate".
King said it was "no big deal and that all QB's do something to the ball". Seixeiro could not handle this and kept insisting that the Pats were cheaters, had been caught cheating before and were cheating again. King calmly told him that he was saying all of this because he didn't like the Pats and that he was just shaping the story to meet his own biases. It was beautiful.
Never in my life have I heard a member of the media so desperately try to paint a story to meet his or her preconceived perspective of the situation and he could not cope with Kings' response to his questions. He kept trying to frame it differently so that something bad could be said about the Patriots. It was brutal to listen to the guy and I won't turn him on again. EVA! And I emailed him telling him why.
The media = Cancer.

We won the game right? Belichick wins at all costs, if you dont like it that, bring your fandom elsewhere. If you want to win with honor, then go be a Bufallo Bills fan or a Jacksonville Jaguars fan. Maybe they can win their conference before you leave the earth.

Well I don't profess to know for sure, I don't play quarterback in the NFL. I can't only guess it has something to do with what Brady is comfortable with. Comfort tend to have a big impact on player performance. But I'm just speculating. let's ask an actual player from the league:

. Some teams—who were not the Steelers—after the officials had checked and approved the game balls, would let out a couple of pound of air to make it easier for the quarterback to grip it. A little less air would make the ball spongier. It was what might be called a perceived advantage-both teams played with the same ball.

So seemingly Bradshaw claims it was advantageous

But please, don't let that get in the way of your charming play of both side of th econversation.

I like it. I just also accept the consequences that come with pushing the envelope, I don't like OP's type of attitude.

Once again, I'm so sorry the public school system has failed you in such spectacular fashion. Tom Brady played superior football AFTER the problem was fixed. Again, ESPN just said they ran computer tests on footballs in a lab all day long and found the pressure in the footballs in question lowered pass velocity and allowed a 1.5% better grip.

1.5%.

You didn't learn logic, reason, or critical thinking skills in school, obviously, but did you at least learn what 1.5% is? 1.5% of a dollar is a penny and a half.

Have you ever risked getting fired from work for a penny?

There is NO motive to SNEAK INTO A ROOM and purposefully deflate footballs.

You're a complete idiot, and no, you're NOT speculating. What you're doing is mindlessly parroting media attacks because you lack the ability to think for yourself.

Once again, I'm so, so sorry.

I love when people run their mouth about how right they are, then when you break down their "argument" to its lowest common denominator and simply ask them to defend it, they basically have to admit they have no idea WTF they're talking about and move their goal post to "oh, I'm just speculating," which means slinging mud and parroting the baseless tales of tabloid news.

Run along.

Did I just wake up in Bizzaro World?!

This is what I took away from this video by Jay Glazer:

1. The League already knew of accusations of under inflated balls, either from the previous Colt game or the Ravens.
2. The League was in essence ambushing the Patriots with this at half time, interception or not.
--> And by this I am inferring that the League wanted to catch the Patriots red-handed, not warn them off.
3. Other teams are fed up with the Patriots because they think they get punished for transgressions the Patriots don't get punished for (?!?!?!?!)
4. #3 was repeated a couple different times.

I'm in shock.

This is actually another witch-hunt.

I guess I'm just slow coming to that realization, I was making the mistake in thinking that this was simply just media sensationalism/feeding frenzy.
