Super Bowl: Pats vs the defending champs

Has the Seahawks faced a power back like Blount yet? Haven't looked up the breakdown of their schedule. I know they gave up big rushing games this year.

Should be interesting to see if they have faced a guy like Blount.

That is Lacy. The should have run him more but the Packers needed to attack more as well.

First, the guy who caught the last minute td was Doug Baldwin and he's their leading receiver and gunner.

Second, they've played Knile Davis, Jonathan Stewart, Frank Gore
Nah that was Sidney Rice who caught the gamewinner vs us.

Who were our safeties at the end of that game? Ebner and Tavon Wilson? As rookies?

Tavon Wilson got destroyed on that bomb to Rice...

I think it will be a good game. Seahawks have a real good team, we have a a slight edge on offense, they have a slight edge on defense IMO.

A big story will be that this is the best defense the Pats have faced, though not by a lot because the Pats played most of the top ten defenses. I'm interested in if the Patriots will be the best defense the Seahawks have faced? Outside of KC who both teams lost to, I think SEA faced CAR and ARI as the best defenses. Wonder how they looked offensively in those games?

They will need to run the ball. IMO their receivers are simply not that good. Strong man coverage can shut down their pass game, particularly if they show up only with Moaeki at TE.

The Seahawks needed three minutes of miracle football, an onside kick and arguably a coin toss to make it past the Packers. Packers probably could've done a couple things differently and be taking a knee at the end of regulation with Seattle only having seven on the board.

They looked pretty beatable yesterday. If Seattle only has seven going into fourth quarter, I like the Pat's chances, given our coach.

Sherman might have his arm in a sling too.

SEA seems to be huge favorites from fans and media, plus this will be a complete road game.

So basically we have two weeks of non sense to deal with before we can finally go out their and prove everyone wrong, and in a road atmosphere it will be great to see.

Uhhhh

Sidney Rice caught that TD with over 1 minute remaining.

This will be a good game. Seattle presents many challenges but I feel New England will mix it up enough to eek out a win. We will have to get the run game going and get some short quick stuff happening to get there D on the move. Beating them deep will be a challenge and they actually have a capable secondary to limit the beast that is Gronk. We will need all hands on deck to win this but "Any given Sunday" will be feb 1st and these Pats will redeem themselves. #4 for Brady

Granted, it's the day after the Colts game, and the Seattle game that was a GB victory for 55 minutes. But I am feeling good about this one. "This is the year" type of feeling. It's the fact of the comeback potential in this team, the 60-minute nature of this team. I think it's tight but the Pats find a way to win.

I've been beating this drum forever I guess, but that 2012 offense was one of the best in NFL history, Welker, Gronk, Hernandez, good running. 3rd most points ever.

Patriots have a better D now, but NOT a better offense.

I think it will be very obvious early on that Gronk is too fast for them.
Wagner and Wright, yes. Chancellor is a 4.5 guy but just ok in coverage for a SS

Skill-wise they are not better but I think their offense is more rugged and diverse now.

-WW, AH, Ridley, Branch, Ocho Stinko

+Jules (full-time now), LaFell, Blount, Wright, Amendola

The flaw with the 2012 team was that it did not have an outside receiving threat. With Jules, Amendola and LaFell, they now have 3.

Last time we played them, our D-Line, co-anchored by Kyle Love of all people, held Marshawn Lynch to 41 yards on 15 carries. Don't get me wrong, Lynch is an explosive player and can catch the ball well out the back field, but I don't see him being the biggest difference maker in this game.

Revis takes away Baldwin and Browner/McCourty should contain Kearse. I think Luke Willson, their TE, will have a big game. I feel like the defensive gameplan will be similar to when we played the Bills and Colts, where Scott Chandler and Colby Fleener were left free to roam, while we took away everything else underneath. It's a bend but don't break mentality, but in a game like this, against a sputtering offense like Seattle's, it should work.

And yes, Seattle does have a great defense, but if Stork is healthy, I feel pretty good about scoring. Their D-Line barely touched Rodgers all game yesterday and he had plenty of time to throw. Again, we know that if you give Brady time, he'll quickly pick you apart.

If Rodgers can shred Seattle's D on one leg, with no practically no TE, then I feel pretty damn good with Gronk, the best in the NFL, over the middle and Edelman, LaFell and company slotted outside. Oh and if Sherman and Thomas are banged up, oh boy....

Fret not, the Legion of Boom are human after all. Should be a great game.

Its certainly a great challenge. But I think the bigger the challenge, the more the Pats thrive off it.

One thing I noticed is that the Packers could not convert 3rd down. I think as good as the Patriots have been on that, it will be interesting to see if they do well there. But I think their run defense was Seattle's main weakness on defense. I can see, with the way they've controlled the running game, the Pats finding ways to control the game with the run. I'd even say if they don't get the run going, they will have a really hard time.

Wilson isn't very accurate if you ask me. Four INTs against Green Bay is one thing, but against the Pats could be a whole different story. The Seattle defense held Green Bay's offense down all game. So all the Pats would need to do is get it done on 3rd down, and maybe some 4th downs if it comes down to it, and they could really have the Seahawks hurting by the 4th quarter.

One can only hope!

I don't think people realise what a freak athlete Bobby Wagner is. Jamie Collins broke the combine record for the broad jump with an 11'7" jump but Wagner's was 11'. He also had s 39.5" vertical jump. As for speed, Bobby Wagner ran a 4.46 forty at 241lbs. Whatever problems Gronk poses for Wagner, speed will not be one of them.

It's going to be easier said than done, but:

  1. Stop Russell Wilson getting out of the pocket
  2. Limit Marshawn Lynch
  3. Do not turn the ball over
And we win this game.

The key with lynch is that they don't run him a ton. The save him and run him at the end of a game where is he is fresh and everyone else is tired. That is why his 4th qrt runs are so good. He is very well managed.

With that said, the key is stopping lynch but also keeping Wilson in the pocket. When he runs, the hawks go.

Also, why do people keep calling the NFCGC the greatest ever? That game was sloppy and poorly played by both sides.

I may be off a bit, but it still seemed like Rodgers had to and was still able to scramble around, something I'm not fully confident in Brady being able to do on 2 legs as well as Rodgers on one leg. Cliff Avril can still apply pressure, but that is where Vereen can prove to be very valuable. I think it it will be a nail-biter from start to finish.
