I Ask You.....Is P. Manning Done?

Beginning of this season, Especially after MNF vs Chiefs, people were saying that performances of Brady & Pats are they DONE? is their run of being dominate over? Mediots, Haters lined up to take shots at us only to see Brady & Pats turn it around and take HF in Playoffs and some made apologies.

So I Ask You, Is P. Manning Done? Mediots will not ask this question because it's law in TV Land NOT to Bash P.M. but OK to make Brady their whippin boy. If Broncos have to come to Gillette ( Just Sayin) PM doesn't scare me like he did in past. Figure in weather conditions, cold, wind or snow etc and stoppin their running game, I don't think PM gets it done throwing with our D at full strength,
Thoughts???
the only team that makes me pee my pants a little is the seahawks. that said anything can happen.

Look, I love bashing on Manning as much as anyone else here but saying he is "done" is absurd.

4,454 yards
39 TDs / 15 INTS
102.9 QB Rating

He is still without a doubt top 5 QB (statistically ranks 4th) in the NFL.

For me it has nothin to do with bashing or homerism but for PM standards I see a drop off in his game. I think with his running game it hides some of his weakness now. And his receiving corp is top shelf will always make him look better and bail him out. An agressive D will will make multiple picks and that's where I think we will be successful.

Weeks 1-8 (7 games)

174 for 252 (69%)
2134 yards
22 TDs
3 INTs

QB rating - 119

Weeks 9-16 (8 games)

200 for 308 (65%)
17 TDS
12 INTs

2320 yards
QB rating - 89.75

I think this post hits the nail on the head and shows what many of us have been saying. 1st half of the season the weather is good and his arm is still somewhat fresh. By the mid point things start to go down hill as his arm is tired, his body not recovering as well as it used to, and the weather gets worse.

So for the overall season his numbers still look very good, but the reality is they look good because of what he was able to do in the first 8 games. I honestly think Manning will retire after this season. It's got to be frustrating for him to know in the 2nd half of the seasons he physically cannot do what he needs to do to be a top QB.

Not like he'd ever admit that, though. He'd just throw the OL and/or WR's under the bus.

People aren't questioning his numbers they are looking at the flight of his passes and wondering if his arm is toast? I thought it looked weak last season but Now it looks like it has given out and his timing, accuracy and ability to read defenses and keep the ball out of trouble through good decisions is what saves him. And while those are all admirable treasures he it's still in big trouble if his arm is gone.

If his decline is not related to an injury that will heal in time, he's dropped way down*, and isn't anywhere near top 5. It's basically the Brady question that was being asked from weeks 1-4.

*The underlined is the key.

Arm is clearly cooked, but with someone of his caliber you have to give him a full year of suck before giving up on him. I think whatever injury he has is making his arm look even worse than it is.

He's still good enough to beat anyone. He'll be around next year.

Well, it's an expensive gamble for the Broncos, since his salary for next year is guaranteed if he's on the roster at the end of the current NFL year.

Despite how bad he is now its hard to believe osweiller will be any better. Unless they want to join the jay cutler sweepstakes, which would be hilarious.

Peyton is eating too much Papa Johns and chicken parm subs and not enough avocado ice cream with cacao dust on top. Does wonders for the throwing arm and keeping Brazilian supermodel wives happy.:D

Done? I don't think so. But something is wrong maybe it's decline or maybe it's injury. And Thomas and Sanders have made him look good on many plays not just last night, but over the season.

I think some of you are going way too far with this.

Yes, Manning has definitely lost arm strength. As a matter of fact, he has lacked arm strength since his surgery, before he even came to Denver.

That said, he's still the 3rd rated QB (behind Rodgers and Brady) in the league due to his experience, intelligence, ability to pre-read defenses, and ability to take advantage of mismatches. In other words, all of those excellent qualities help to mask his deficiencies.

John Elway would likely laugh in your face if you asked him about "cutting" Peyton freaking Manning. He had a chance at the #1 seed up until 18 hrs ago. C'mon...

He's not going to get better next year. If elway feels like manning does not have the ability to win another title, why would they not move on?

Do surefire HOF's in football just retire or do they pull a Jeter I will retire next year tour?I don't remember seeing this in the NFL.

here is the gif that I posted last night. I still can't figure if the knee buckled or if it was a slip.

He kinda looks like he buckles just as he's set to throw takin air off his throw. Telegraphs it also.

I'm not sure about done - there was a good stretch of that game (the third quarter) where Manning looked great. Good throws, good reads, and they took the lead against the Bengals. Of course, it was against the Bengals, but still, I think it's worth noting. Of course, the corollary is that the pick six in the fourth quarter was as atrocious a pick as you can imagine, both in the specific play and in the ramifications of throwing a pick in the first place. I felt for DT on that throw - immediately Gruden and Turrico were trying to blame him for running the wrong route, and there was no correction when the little yellow outline of the route he was "supposed to run" turned out to be exactly what he did run. It was just that Manning threw a terrible pass.

Maybe it's past experience against Manning, or just watching Brady sometimes go from looking mortal under pressure to fantastic sometimes within the space of the games, I'm not ready to bail out on Manning being a significant threat to the Patriots and their Super Bowl ambitions. If his O-Line shows up to play and he eats his Wheaties, he can still pick you apart.

Maybe Im wrong to do think so, but when I look at that gif, I don't see the knee as being the source of his trouble, but his foot.

It looks like me like he had terrible footing there as he backpeddled and everything about his leg was simply it adjusting to him as he twisted his foot about.

It also looks like there could have been a flag thrown for holding on Clady #78 there too :)
