Unbelievable, this guy is such a chicken **** tackler. Just as he said he would, he goes low on Gronkowski the very first opportunity he got. What a dirty SOB. How would he like it if someone was trying to ruin his career? Absolutely disgusting. After all the physical and emotional stress of trying to come back from that knee injury, Ward prioritizes one down over Gronks well being. Felt like he did it just to make some type of point. I really hate this guy.

I thought it was funny before the Vereen touchdown he was running his mouth and celebrating after his tackle on Vereen, but 5 seconds later we score. Also, Gronk posterized him on that beautiful catch. This guy had the balls to say they were still the better team after the game **** you Ward.

Not only can this guy not tackle, he is absolute garbage in coverage. Nice game last night buddy, you were being targeted in coverage to much success.

You play football to win you won by stoping the hug in front of you if you go high and he will win you would go low. I'd do the same it no different than a running back cutting a LB who is rushing through at the QB.

I don't know, man. I could be biased but it looked like he specifically went for Gronk's right knee. Disclaimer: I haven't seen the play since and heard (I think it was Esiason on 98.5?), said the same thing: Ward targeted his right knee and then celebrated right after.

Good thing the guy can't cover or imagine how many times he would have gone for Gronk's legs.

I dont think anyone blames him for going low, but watch the replay of this hit.

He lines up the knee and dives helmet first right at right knee which is the one he busted last season. You can go low without targeting the knees.

These guys aren't allowed to tackle high, and you can't bring Gronk down by tackling him in the middle. That leaves only one way to go. The rules pretty much dictate that you go low, and that means these larger TEs will all be looking for ways to protect their knees.

Completely agree with you, but do you think he specifically dove helmet first at Gronk's right knee?

pure douchebag.

OK cool ...so basically the league is saying the knees is acceptable "it is a fast game" cool..then maybe if someone goes low on that pathetic waste of space and ends his year and maybe career, the same one he uses to pay his bills, then whomever hits him can say "it's a fast game"... sorry excuse

I have no problem with going low, I have a big problem with targeting the knee to injure the player, which is clearly what Ward is doing. he's not trying to get him down, he is trying to take him out, just like Pollard. I almost never wish injury on anyone, but guys like Pollard, Ward, and Matt Cooke in hockey definitely deserve to be treated the way they treat others. I will have no problem with anyone ending any of their careers, they have earned it.

This year's Bernard Pollard Award is going to be a close race.

There is a difference between trying to wrap someone up at the knees, on one hand, and trying to spear their knee with a helmet, on the other. The former is just good technique. The latter is not tackling, it is taking someone out. Can't say which Ward did in this case it is sort of hard to tell.

I'm perfectly fine with players trying to tackle Gronkowski by wraping at his hip/thigh like the Seahawks tackle. The injury risk isn't that high and you can get big guys down like that. But that's just pure dirty. He wasn't trying to tackle Gronkowski, he was trying to blow out his knee.

To people saying this happens because of head rules. Completely disagree. You can (and should) tackle someone in this situation without throwing yourself head first into the opponents head. You should tackle guys like Gronk low. But tackling low does not mean throw yourself head first into their knees. It means wrapping at the thigh/hip and either roll or keep the legs going to bring the guy down. That's tackling low.

Just think. People on this board were complaining about the Pats not signing Ward in the offseason. ME? I'm glad the POG isn't here.

Matt Cooke is another, absolutely agree. Repeat offenders hiding behind common acceptable beliefs, that the players wont themselves change because it is a code they do not want to break. This is just like concussions...they wont fix it cause the code is to get back out there and play. Some one or group managed to get through and talked some sense to the League and made them change that mindset. The same has to apply here...enough of this knee ****. I look at Bobby Orr, the best in my opinion to EVER have played the game and his knees were shot. So much potential ...gone. They got to get this stuff fixed man and it can't be led by the players....

There's a difference between going low and targeting the knee. He appeared to be very specifically targeting Gronk's knee with his helmet.

As others have said, there is a huge difference between wrapping up a player's legs and trying to spear their knees. Which is exactly what Ward tried to do to Gronkowski. Ward tried to intentionally take Gronk out again.

Also, please stop with the BS that they can't go HIGH. You can tackle a player anywhere from the shoulders to the thighs. You don't have to target their knees.
