Johnny Manziel visiting Patriots

Also,

Rodgers was drafted when Favre was 36.
Plummer was drafted when Elway was 37.
Osweiler was drafted when Manning was 37.

I think its naive to think BB wouldn't draft the right QB high.
Elway retired at 38. Many expect Manning to retire at 38. Favre fake-retired and then was traded at 38. If there's any indication out there that Brady has any plans to retire before his contract expires when he's 40, then I haven't seen it. It's only two years difference, but that's a big two years when we're talking about having 4 relatively cheap years out of a rookie contract. Any first round QB would be entering his option year, where any QB outside of the first round would be hitting free agency as Brady's contract expires.

Wow. Teddy Bridgewater is visiting the #Patriots tomorrow, source says. It’s not just Johnny Football in Foxboro.

BB didn't do this with Luck/RGIII or Smith/Manuel, right?

Manziel's hairline is just awful for his age. Wow.

This is a smart move by the Pats. We aren't going to draft any of these QB's (especially Manziel) but we will eventually play against them so why not learn as much as we can about them. Work them out, find their strengths and their weaknesses and try to exploit that when we play against them. I also think there is a part of BB that just likes to screw with people and see how they would react to this sort of stuff.

I'm probably in the minority in thinking there is actually a decent chance that Manziel could actually fall to 29, in which case the Pats having as much information on him as possible would help them to be able to sell the pick. I can't see any scenario where we actually take him though, he seems like the antithesis of a Patriots QB. Bridgewater I would have a little more interest in but certainly not at 1st round value.

If he happened to fall to 29, as always, it'd come down to BPA and he very well could be the guy. Manziel is a great player.

checking to see if he can move to wr like edelman

Doubt he will go to the Patriots. Maturity is the key as he lacks that.

Haha could you imagine the meltdown if someone tried to move him away from QB. I would do it just for the entertainment value.

I think the main reason the Pats have some many guys visit who are very unlikely to get to draft is obvious. They do it because they know in just 4 or 5 years some of those guys are going to be available in FA, and the Pats will have had a face to face to add to the 4 years of film on the player.

Its just the Pats being their usual, grind it out methodical selves. They don't leave any stones unturned, even if its a stone they won't get to turn for 4 or 5 years

Maturity is the only reason he has the potential to fall to the Patriot's. Wasn't Ryan Mallet cited as having the same issue?

More reason to do so then not. Remmeber Patriots also "trying" to trade Mallett, by knowing what you have in Manziel and Bortels you also have a better view on Mallett.

That sayed, i dont think any can 100% rule out QB in the first round, would we like it short term probably not, but long term we might.

Patriots also worked out Mike Evans, so they also gonna find out if it was Evans there made Manziel or the other way around.

With all that sayed, then ill still be surpriced to see a QB picked early.

First Blake then Johnny and last Teddy.. There may be more to it.

Last year I compiled a list of elite QBs and when they retired. As their skill set diminished, 38 was the common age with only Warren Moon defying Mother Nature into his forties. Pats fans at some point will have to overcome the " Brady is god-like and therefore infallible" mindset and start getting prepared for the inevitable day when either age, injury, economics, or skill set force BB to move on. BB is too well versed on the history of the league not to understand how advanced age affects QBs and therefore I believe BB wants to be prepared.
PS......Is it just me or does anyone else agree that TB's face shows no sign of aging. Marino and Montano looked like old men when they retired...at 38. Whatever age defying regimen Super G has Brady into....sign me up. Maybe Brady is infallible after all

There's talk of both Manziel and Bridgewater dropping, particularly Bridgewater.

If you were the Pats, wouldn't you want them to go in the first round? The more picks on guys like that, who don't fill a need for you, the better your chances of getting the guy you want.

So bring them in and signal the teams ahead of you that if either falls to 29, he might not get to 30.

The draft is a betting game, right? When you use a simulator and you take ASJ with that 2nd Round pick, you're praying that Jordan Tripp is there when the clock comes up on your 3rd.

Maybe BB is just upping the stakes on the QBs for teams thinking they might get the guy they want in the early 2nd round instead of the early 1st.

Maybe BB is taking a look to see if he might steal a really good prospect to slide into back-up.

Maybe BB is looking to weigh these two against a guy he's got who has been whispered about in trades.

Maybe all three, and a fourth or fifth reason beyond that.

Gisele knows make-up.

Excellent observation. Maybe BB is stirring the pot and creating anxiety for those teams hoping to fill their QB needs in the 2nd round.

They also met with Jake Locker, who went pretty early a few years ago. I don't think they're doing this because they want to draft him but rather to evaluate their evaluation process. Take a look at him, see what he can do, and then form an opinion. Take a look at him in 3-5yrs and compare that to what you projected him to become see how accurate it was and how your evaluation process can be improved.

I'll take the under on whether he'll be in the league in five years.

I don't think this is as complicated as the media would have you believe. They are bringing them in to scout them (you never know where they end up) and ask them about their teammates the pats may be interested in but don't want to bring in.
