Free Agent Signings around the League

Who said that?

The fact is that they manhandled us in the AFCCG. They moved the ball on us at will and our offense looked miserable against what was a very mediocre defense. Their defense improved with the signing of Ward and it will become elite if they sign Ware or Allen.

We could get lucky and play them in 20 degree weather again with 40mph wind. Maybe we will win under those conditions.

However, I wouldn't want to have to rely on luck.

We didn't have anything to fight back with!! We were running on scraps and fumes. If that D was healthy and Gronk was there then they would have strolled into Denver and put them in their place.

Now if you're talking SB that's a different matter because a fully healthy squad last season wouldn't have beaten Seattle but they wouldn't have got routed either like the Donkeys did.

Denver being "the clear favorite in the AFC" is very debateable. IMO the Pats with Gronk/Talib on the field are evenly matched with them. That may be the homer in me though.

I'll give you "16 million" reasons why Revis won't be a New England Patriot.

He probably won't get that much on the open market after he gets cut.

It is the homer in you.

We are a long way from Game One.

My guess is that DEN and NE will be among the top 6 teams in SuperBowl betting by then. After that, we can play the games.

No it's not the homer in you, it's the truth. Pats looked like a DOMINANT team with Talib/Gronk out there in the same game. Oh and that was even with a decimated D and limited wide receiving unit.

Imagine EVERYONE healthy and some key pieces added, scary if you ask me.

Denver doesn't have any corners signed, lost their starting G, didn't another OL retire? Lost #2 WR, top pass rusher from last season is still a FA, very thin at LB.

NE is in a much better position. Denver has a lot of cap space because they have a lot of holes.

I don't know if there's a mod here reading this but.. I think I speak for a bunch of ppl when I say that it'd be awesome if we could get a thread ACTUALLY dedicated to just the FA signings going on. I like the discourse, but it seems pretty logical to have 2 threads.. a shorter one with the signings (who wants to go through 20+ pages), and another for the discussions around it.

One thing you can guarantee is that Pats passing game and Tom Brady will not look like they did early in 2013. That already is a huge boost.

Falcons release Tony Gonzalez

And i thought pats fans were obsessed with the jets...

Ward salary is from Mary Kay Cabot, beat writer for the Browns, but there is no story on her blog at the Browns that Ward even signed. There's a few about Whitner up to 4:48 so I'll wait til she confims that tweet from that source.

If the Broncos get Talib or Revis in addition to Ward I will lose it.

Golden Tate visiting Lions, Charles Tillman visiting Bucs.

Denver didn't just get beat they got absolutely smashed, annihilated and humiliated on the biggest spectacle of them all. There is no mystique left, they are a soft, finesse offense that can't handle old school football and they're QB shakes like an earthquake under pressure.

They suck big time on defense and have holes EVERYWHERE.

Patriots just needed health, that's literally all they needed. The secondary was good the front was good but one by one our best players fell down leaving us with UFA's playing in AFCCG.

There is your answer as to who is more prepared for next season. Pats are a receiver/TE away on offense and some pieces here and there on the other side from competing with anyone in the NFC let alone the AFC

What is the point in such an exercise? Haven't we figured out yet how football works? Opening day rosters are vastly different than postseason ones... it's how you weather the injuries (and luck, as to which of your impact players can stay healthy).

Time for Kraft to open up the wallet Revis Talib and Mike Mitchell problem solved.

Falcons officially released Tony Gonzalez, in case some team in need of a tight end might be interested in trying to talk him out of retirement.
