From his Twitter:

Aaron Dobson had surgery today to repair the stress fracture in his foot, per source. Early recovery timetable estimated at 2-3 months.

Good news is that he should be back and fine for Training camp. Bad news is he misses a lot of the offseason workouts and training.

Trading/releasing Amendola isn't going to happen (if it ever was). BB was talking to high end Draft WRs recently. You can't wait with WRs (Draft or FA), they'll be gone otherwise.

Just saw this on the front page. Sucks he's going to out for that long. At least he's back by TC. Guess this limits his ota's participation?

It's going to all but wipe out his off-season development and for him that's a huge setback. Unfortunately, I think this puts the team in the market for another WR.

big deal...sit him in a wheel chair and hook up a juggs machine....he can catch a million balls by the end of May

Great idea! :bricks:

Wonder why they didn't fix it earlier...maybe the thought it would heal on it's own

Exactly. They hoped it would, it didn't, and now he's got a lot of recovery to do but they at least know it will (or should) heal now.

That was 100% the thought. I had a bunch of posts about 10-14 days ago when it was announced that they'd be assessing it in the next week or two.

The hope was that the injury would heal, but it did not sound even remotely optimistic as of last week.

Better yet, make it a self-propelled wheel chair and see if he can catch a deep post from Brady.

Maybe he'll catch 105 balls like the last guy recovering from foot surgery.

IIRC he lost some of the first trainings after draft due to a foot injury and was kind of deep on the depth chart of receivers.

I hope this is something that will not bounce back every now and then.

That isn't really very good news. Foot injuries are dicey. Lots of small delicate bones and ligaments, subject to high stress, none of which heal predictably.

Better now than later, should have happened right after the season.

WR is officially a need. I would go for 2 at this point. Nicks is available on a one year deal and go get Edelman if $ reasonable if not him Sanders. You cant go into the season hoping. Dobson's second year will be catching up.

Unless you were loving what you saw from the WR position last season, the team needed to be in the market for another WR from the get go. For Dobson, the worst part about this is that he doesn't get to work with Brady in the offseason like he was reported to be looking forward to. He really needed that one on one time with Brady (as does Boyce and Dobson). I'm really hoping the team doesn't look to draft a WR high. That position needs to be filled through FA.

This is unfortunate but don't overstate it. The biggest part of the "2nd year jump" is knowing your position, in this case WR. Going into this year he knows the offense, he knows Brady (and vice versa) a heck of a lot better than last year. He knows the league and what it takes to succeed. He's been working on his upper body in the offseason, that came from his brief interview last week. And he'll be healthy for training camp.

Missing OTAs is a setback and it's definitely too bad. But it's not close to a game changer.

He isn't a game changer but I'm expecting Emmanuel Sanders, they seem to really like him. Like it or not I expect our WR group to be Dobson, Sanders, Amendola, Boyce and either Edelman or competition between Thompkins, Harrison and a draftee.
