Welker?

This thread is awful on so many levels.

1) Yes, Peyton Manning is responsible for giving guys concussions  Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne caught balls from Manning for years and they seem to be fine.
2) Bringing back Welker would mean getting rid of Edelman which is a terrible idea.
3) Belichick and the organization would never even consider bringing Wes back.

Between this thread and trading Mallett and Ridley to the Browns for the #4, I'm not sure what happened to the fan base.

First off, I recommend masticating the feces well before you swallow. :)

Secondly, Harrison and Wayne were outside receivers. You might as well be comparing Defensive Tackles with Nose Tackles - like HOF voters.:)

Thirdly, I did not ask what Belichick would do. I asked what you would do. And before you stupidly accuse me again of making a stupid anti-Edelman thread, I suggest you read the part where I say, "If I took Welker back it would be like Collie." (To remind you, Collie was spot duty, and arguably the 5th or 6th receiver.)

Welker owes ME clutch catches in Super Bowl 46 and the 2013 AFCCG vs. Baltimore.

P.S. Give Frank Zappa his album title back. You're not clever enough to do it justice.

Exactly...that is why he IS Auntie Spam....on the level of a Weird Al Yankovic cheap knockoff...except instead of parodying others he parodies himself...

You are all stupid and I am the huge genius!!!Denver you morons!!!....ha! I was only joking, I took Seattle, you idiots!!! I'm the knower of everything and you are all stupid Pats fans!! Welker never wanted to play for YOU Pats fans!!! He should play for Barfalo!~!! I'll bet he does!!! and if he doesn't I'll bet there's no way he would and I STILL end up the KNOWER OF EVERYTHING!!!!! You stupid Pats fans!!!!! aaaarrrrggghhhhh................

If he was cut, I'd bring him back.....Wouldn't give him more than a 1 year deal at around 3-4 million though, and that would be if Edelman left.

Why spend money to bring Welker back when that money can be spent on Edelperson?

Auntie Spam is back and insulting every member he can...again...the moron who bragged about the big money play he was making on the Broncos in the Bowl..the idiot who showed up a day after and bragged he was just joking and actually WON big money. The pathologically addicted loser whose cocaine and bourbon rants on our board are reaching epidemic proportions.

Pay him no attention...he's a Phillip Seymour Hoffman knockoff looking for a sidewalk swan dive into the Big Dirt Nap beyond.

JOKER!

How the hell are ya, buddy?

Thanks, I did win money on the Super Bowl. I made a bunch of prop bets, as you should know in your diligent stalking endeavors. Hit a big parlay on props, as well as singular wagers as well, mostly props...mostly just plain luck. Lost some too, but came out well enough ahead. You should be proud of me that I bet that Wes Welker would have OVER 5.5 catches. That's my boy. Money.

You are also correct that I lost my Broncos bet, but that was not my largest play or even close. Never said I was joking and really picked Seattle...I'll leave the joking to the joker. You are the unmitigated master. You're pretty good at insults too, although they roll off my back and run down my ass-crack. You like that, don't ya? Mmmmmmm.

Love what Welker did during his time with New England but his burst looks to have significantly declined to me. Still, he's one of my all time favorite Patriots but there's a need to fill the team with players who possess quickness or outright speed.

Right
That was then. Thank you Wes!
This is now. Enjoy your millions in a healthy retirement.

As usual, the anti-Welker positions taken here are ridiculous.

Welker would instantly be the team's best WR if he returned. But let's not bring him back because Patsfans.com posters got a hair across their asses over a player not taking a **** sandwich from the team and saying "Yummy!". :bricks:

I give your post a **** sandwich

Your thread and conspiracy theories are laughable, unfounded and straight up garbage. To even suggest Manning is the reason why two guys have gotten concussions is shockingly dumb. Get over it. :)

Harrison and Wayne were "outside receivers?" Oh, sorry, I didn't know an "outside receiver" only runs go routes and out routes. Do you even watch football? Have you ever watched Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison play with the Colts? Apparently not because "outside receivers"(what is an "outside receiver" anyways?) only run go routes in your little world.

Oh and one more thing, to suggest we take Welker back and only have him play "spot duty" as a "5th or 6th" receiver is so ridiculous I'm starting to now wonder if you're trolling. Yeah, I'm sure it will go over so well with the team and Wes to sign him to the contract he wants(which will be at minimum what he made with Denver this year) to play "spot duty" when he would instantly be the best wide receiver on this team. Way to show us your football knowledge friend!

Oh and in regards to your feces comment. What you do in your spare time is of no interest to me, or anyone else in this thread. Thanks. :)

The traitor comments are wrong.
Deus' rebuttal is at least as wrong in the other direction.

Welker asked the Patriots to hire him for a deal like Denver's. There is little doubt that if he'd made the request a day or two earlier, let alone a week or two, they would have agreed.

Welker was grossly underpaid for five years in New England...then they tagged him. Then he left...go figure.

I know what you're saying though.

You do realize he was offered 3/18 before the tag. He only fetched 6 mill on the FA market so we nailed his value. He chose to leave. And he went from the #1 wr here to a #3 on Denver.

On top of that, he'd have actually got 3/20 here if he'd have accepted the deal that was offered last offseason, due to the fact that he was just paid 10 million on the franchise tag--all guaranteed for 2012.

So from the period of 2012--2014 (3 seasons):

3 seasons/20 million total---17 million of that 20 totally guaranteed.

Sounds to me like it was pretty damn competitive with DEN's deal, considering that they gave him less year one guaranteed money to boot, and may be damn lucky if he even ends up seeing his year two money in full.

I still would have liked to see Belichick up the offer another 1 million in total to an offer of 2/11 for 2013 and 2014. I think that may have been enough to warrant Welker choosing to stay here, but that's just me.

I know that some do not agree with me, but to me it's more than obvious that there was bad blood beginning to boil behind the scenes. I think that both Welker and Belichick didn't like the idea that the other party wouldn't budge in the slightest, and it ended up being a prime example of a negotiation that really should have gotten done, but sadly couldn't due to hard-headedness.

Bingo!!!!!

Why spend money to bring Welker back when that money can be spent on Edelperson?

Say somebody offers Edelman big money for some reason, perhaps Welker can be had for something like 2-3 mill. I could see that being a possible scenario. I don't think Welker wants to come back here. I think BB would bring him back. He doesn't really hold grudges. I think Asante Samuel is a different story but, players have trashed him and or the team before and he's tried to bring them back. Logan Mankins(re-signed), Deion Branch, and Ty Law(tried multiple times to bring him back).

I don't think it's the design of the plays that are dangerous for the receivers. I think Manning just doesn't throw hard enough so the receivers don't have that extra split second to protect themselves after the catch. Welker was used to 120 mph lasers from Brady and he had time to go down before getting hit, now he gets lit up as soon as the ball is in his hands.

I wouldn't take Welker back in a million years. I was willing to consider it but since he injured Talib, no way.

I highly doubt that the Broncos will let him go, more than likely they will do some sort of extension that's not really an extension but they can call it that. Welker signs extension to 4 years 10 million, when really all they are doing is spreading his existing money out over another year, knowing full well that they will cut him in 2 years (or less).

And even if they do release him, NO WAY does he come back! You know where he would really be scary is in New Orleans.

Any way, would you take Welker back?

**** that guy.

Besides, for his price tag, we can have Edelman, who is younger, faster, a better PR, an emergency DB, and a BB-koolaid-drinking team player.

He's a slot receiver who will be 33 when training camp starts. He's a year older than when BB didn't want to pay him, with at least two more concussions. He looks a half step slower and isn't immune from dropping the ball (9 last year). Even his routes didn't look as crisp to me. FWIW, I'd pass.
