Florio's site is pathetic

True however this is more than just noting the comment... it was leading headline earlier today. Hence it being the 4th most commented story in the sidebar

Every new story on PFT gets the headline treatment...and that lasts until the next story gets posted on top of it.....so top billing lasted maybe an hour....the outrage!!! The crap you guys get worked up about never ceases to amaze me. On Patsfans, threads get started regarding statements from players, coaches, the owner.....all the time ....no outrage then......but if PFT dares post a Brady quote........OFF WITH FLORIO's HEAD.....or.....BOYCOTT.

Ever notice that Florio looks like a ventriloquist's dummy on television? You sort of expect the camera to pan to the left and reveal his puppeteer. (Roger Goodell, perhaps?)

Florio has never had an original thought in his life. There are a number of NFL front office types who can make Florio's lips move by simply wiggling their fingers. Word has it that these guys have been so far up Florio's butt so often that his proctologist can give him a colonoscopy using a flashlight and a #2 pencil.

I don't have an issue with him personally since I haven't met him or interacted with him. I will say I'm not a big fan of his attribution practices, which are done at the bare minimum. He links three words in his article back to the original source he's quoting, and what he or his guys write basically re-writes the piece as if it was their own original report...it's odd and hard to explain. And to make matters worse, anytime he references a previous report in an article, he just links back to the PFT page he posted and not the original report.

I get why he does it as it drives a lot of inter-site views. I just have a hard time feeling comfortable with that practice since it hurts the original source. Every time I post anything that's from another report, I always try and mention the writer and the source instead of just the newspaper or site, and make sure I try and emphasize that's where it came from. It's a tough gig and as much as many complain we've got a lot of people in this market that really do a good job keeping us all informed. So it annoys me a bit when I see him make a local story a national one and then not name the reporter who made it possible for him to get his site and NBC a ton of page views.

Although then again here I am and meanwhile he's been bought out by NBC and has his gig. Such is life when you try and do the right thing I guess

Florio's a hack who has fallen in the with the idea that he actually knows something about football. Some people will do anything to get on TV.

You, on the other hand, can count yourself among those who will not put a price on integrity and self-respect. I think there are lots of reasons that you can be very proud of what you've accomplished here.

First of all that is not the case and second of all that wasn't my point.

The difference between reading his site 7 years ago and today is like night and day. PFT was a fun and humorous read back in the day, and now all you see is clickbait, subpar quality writing, sensationalism passing off as "news" and trolling for comments - things like "the Pats MUST be up to something...." and other comments of the like - something you would have never seen back in the day.

It's too bad actually.

Starting reading his site in 06 and it was definitely different then. I remember making a comment via email and then him responding and a short exchange about the 2 different chris Henry's...... Yeah it was a while ago

Yesterday I deleted the pft app off my work iPad, my iPad, and my phone. I'm done with that dog**** site.

People always debate what team he's a fan of but I swear it's the steelers and he gave it away this year.

After week 16 when nobody else in the world gave a **** that the steelers weren't in the playoffs he wrote article after article about how they should have gotten in.

He never deletes steelers fan troll comments but often deletes pats comments.

And he refuses to post any stories about cowher saying spy gate being no big deal. The story 7 years ago as well as the story this month.

He posted nothing about the steeler team dr steroid controversy or the bs calls in the seahawks SB

I got frustrated when he reported it as a fact that Tomlin accidentally got in the way if jacoby jones like it could have happened to anybody,

I finally gave up when he wrote the article saying that welkers hit on Talib was after the catch when it never happened. I guess I can deal with the troll comments and his picking and choosing what stories to write or bump up and down his stupid site . But when he's going to suggest things are facts that never happened it just gets to an incredibly pathetic level.

He was probably a below average ambulance chaser too.

He's not a dumb guy. He knows that a high percentage of the league's fans hate the Patriots and that number is greater than the number of Patriots fans who are out there reading him. As a result, that stance generates more page views than the other. So that's why he obviously does it.

The funny thing is we live in a world where someday when the Patriots are no longer winning 10+ games every year (gasp ) or even making the playoffs for that matter, there will be another team to hate, and he'll shift his stance off of them toward that other team and that same formula will still work because a lot of those same Patriots fans (sadly) who hated him will forget all about it. "It is what it is"

Apparently Florio is a Vikings fan who lives (or lived) in Steelers country. He definitely likes Pittsburgh though. I remember when "Spygate" first broke he mentioned being at the 2004 AFC Championship. I think that's why he takes it so personally.

That explains a lot he sounds like a gigantic jag

I live in illinois and I'm a pats fan. And when the bears make an nfccg I do not go. What a loser.

So he's a fair weather ambulance chaser...

It was amusing though when he pretended he was a criminal law expert when the Aaron Hernandez **** first hit the fan. I remember reading posts by pft readers telling him to go back to chasing ambulances and they were deleted within minutes. I was in class for work at the time (for an entire week) so I was Bored, kept refreshing it, and it was hilarious. People were ripping him to shreds in the comments, he must have spent hours deleted comments personally or tasking people to delete the comments.

Think I have gotten desensitized to the Anti-Patriot sentiment of Florio, but visit him to get the NFL headlines... although do not trust his synopsis of any event.

Mediots, such as him, have mastered the art of taking things out of context and appealing to specific demographic; those obsessed with the Patriots and their "scandals". Do not remember any disparaging comments about the Saints, and they have had the most recent scandal.. the 4 letter network has forgotten about those Unsaintly, unsavory incidents.

He has made a lot of cash for doing what he does, and his site does nothing more than pay close attention of what is happening daily then create quick hitting sound bytes... perhaps in our attention deficit disorder society this method of conveying the NFL news works.

Admittedly, I go there all the time.

1. I don't think the site is anti-Patriots. I think it is pretty fair. The problem is that most Patriots fans are anti-anything that isn't pro-Patriots.

2. The site would be much better served reporting transactions, rumors, draft information, and real mainstream and insider stories. Unfortunately, the site has started to become TMZ Football, reporting on "he said she said" things all the time and generating the most web traffic. That's the type of crap that makes me wish a new site would pop up with a comparable amount of insider sources. Unfortunately, right now PFT is still the only good source of information that gets reported a few hours before it hits mainstream, and although there are some misses, it is admittedly a "rumor mill" and the accuracy is pretty darn good.

Precisely. If the price of "success" is losing your integrity, it's too high a price. Sleep well!
