Colts sign Deion Branch

I don't think players should be allowed to sign contracts in the playoffs unless they've played at least a snap in the regular season. .

This I agree with.

Brady is happy that his buddy is playing again and excited about the opportunity to face him on Saturday should it present itself.

Disloyal. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I look forward to that poster telling you that you don't know Brady any better than he does. ;)

How do you no? Oh that's right you don't know that Brady considers it disloyal anymore than I know that he does.

Everyone seems to agree about one thing: Deion is unlikely to be a factor in the game. Aside from that, opinions turn on whether Deion "owed" anything to the Patriots.

Speaking for myself, I agree that professional athletes generally don't owe any loyalty to organizations that cut or fail to resign them, but context is important. Branch had his career extended one year when the Patriots kept him on the roster in 2012 despite production well below his career average (16 receptions, 145 yards, 0 TDs versus 50 receptions, 650 yards, 3.9 TDs per year in the preceding 10 years). Belichick also did this for Kevin Faulk. So yes, the Patriots did show some loyalty to Branch.

That is why signing with a playoff opponent - and one of the Patriots' main rivals over the past decade - six days before the game for what is chump change to professional athletes is repellent.

I understand the logic when this is argument comes up, but it's not accurate. If Branch is smart, most of his earnings from his career are in accounts that can only be touched with heavy penalties before he reaches normal retirement age, and his earning potential (from wages) is severely depressed from this point forward.

For him, thousands of dollars (at a minimum, $23,000 plus a per diem and possibly a nominal signing bonus) is still thousands of dollars. That's a year of in-state tuition at a public university for a loved one. It's over 4 years of the maximum Roth IRA contribution for himself or a loved one. All for 5 days of work, 30 days at most.

I completely understand what you're saying. All I can say is that I would not do it and I am sure that many other players, the Tedy Bruschis, also would not do it. I highly doubt that he needs the money or it will actually change anyone's life either way. Anyway, it certainly is his right.

Anyway, I'll go on record as saying that this signing will have absolutely zero impact on the game.

Good for Deion for grabbing some of that idiot Irsay's money.

How do you know Brady feels that way? Don't make that suggestion or claim with absolutely no basis to it.

So a unemployed player gets a call a few weeks ago to have a workout. He does. 3 weeks later they call him and ask him to play he signs. But in your world he is suppose to turn down the contract out of loyalty to a company he hasn't worked for in a year.

Taking out the hate for McDaniels did you have a problem with him signing to coach remainder of 2011 season a week before Broncos game?

Josh actually resigned before the Broncos beat the Steelers. Josh also returned to a team that he had coached for before with the intent to coach the following season and beyond.

I think it's hilarious that people think Branch ever had any loyalty to this team anyway. Nothing like trying to hold the team hostage by refusing to honor his signed contract and waiting so late the Patriots had to virtually call temp agencies looking for receivers.

That was underhanded.

Now? We cut his ass a year ago. If someone's desperate enough to give him a payday, good luck.

Troy Brown visited the Jets...

I know that he does just as much as you know that he doesn't. You have no basis to suggest he doesn't just like I have no basis to suggest he does.

So basically, so long as the situation fits with your subjective homeristic matrix about what best fits the Patriots point of view, it's kosher?

At least we're making progress.

If that is so you shouldn't say that your pretty sure Brady and some teammates see it as disloyalty to begin with. As was mentioned, you are just making things up...or should I say baseless assumptions.

Except that he's right and you are wrong.

No..it ain't kosher...unless I get a fresh half sour pickle to go along with it...:kev:

I not usually described as homeristic I have more of an issue with people being greedy and are willing to jeopardize something people they know who actually worked their asses off to get a chance at something. If Branch played as much as a snap this season or he was signed through next season I wouldn't have an issue but the fact is he doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs at all, he didn't do anything to get here and now he stands in the way of players who fought through endless adversity.

not bad just a cool, probably 50K for 'consulting'.

Except that he's right and you are wrong.

Ok can you show something to make prove that?

Don't you usually make you claims of knowledge over in patriots world where poster believe you?
