I think it's a good pick up. The Jaguars signed him to a futures contract yesterday and we came of the top. He offers insurance if Wendell walks this offseason.

Wasn't he in camp with the pats? Surprised considering they have Braxton cave on the practice squad I think.

They have a ton of OL getting experience on the team and P squad. I'm doubting they draft any high now. Kline looks like he's ready t challenge for a spot soon and Stankiewitch makes two centers to go with a bunch of guards and tackles.

You can't predict injuries and they have three good young tackles. Lots of people, including me, think Wendell could be beaten out by someone stronger.

As Reiss noted, it's a misprint. Signed with the Jaguars.

I think we'll always be continuing to develop OL, particularly while Scarnecchia is still here and able to do so, which may/may not be much longer.

I'm not sure that I see as much of a relationship to attempt to develop and coach up OL to compete or act as backups/swingmen/potential starters with the team definitely passing on a higher draft pick at OL as you do.

It's a pretty common thought to many that we'll need to continue to address the position, and have all of Wendell, Connelly, Svitek, Solder, Cannon, and even a decision on Mankins all coming up for free agency in some form over the next couple of years. The fact that we have guys on the PS and undrafted rookies in the mix for competition doesn't really lead me to believe that we'll be passing on someone in rounds 1-3 in the upcoming draft, but you may very well end up being right.

I would definitely feel that we'll need to throw in some more talented choices in the higher rounds over the next year or two also, as they may end up being our OL of the future just the same if not more as guys like Cave, Kline, etc.

If this guy ever gets married do you think his wife will adopt his last name?

We always do, but we've carried more OL on the practice squad and off and on the team and squad than usual. They've got a lot more invested (and potentially, Solder's a 1st) in tackles than they have before and I don't remember any guards or centers we used that were higher than a 5th except Mankins. They'll need to sign Cannon too, he's started at tackle and might start at guard next year.

From the looks of the draft, Cave with a year on the practice squad is likely ahead of anyone they could draft and OL probably advance more based on technique than most other positions.

Just my intuition. I was for drafting a center, but i think they will fill the needs from guys on the practice squad, or guys they've cut who have worked out. they've been moving OL on and off that squad aggressively.

I went to school with a guy named stankiewich--of course we called him Stinkie. Kids are so cruel.

Just give him whatever **** LeBeau puts in his morning coffee and we could get ten more years out of him...........

Yeah, if you find out what the substance is, please let me know.

At the age of 38, I shouldn't be feeling like a 75 yr old man when I wake up every morning in the colder weather

Back on topic: is there anybody else the Patriots haven't signed?

You may end up being correct, or it's possible that the truth may lie in the middle and we're both right on some level, should a higher 1-3 rd pick be selected on the OL, along with having one/more of the PS players work out on a competitive level.

I can absolutely respect and agree with the thought of one of our guys having better knowledge and technique, but my concern would be in the level of talent.

Stanky, we hardly knew ye...
