What team do you want to see in the playoffs?

So because the Broncos have already beaten the Chiefs twice, you think that makes them less likely to do it again? I definitely can't get on board with that logic.

And you'd be correct not to get on board, because the team who has won the first 2 games has gone on to win the 3rd in 12/19 matchups when played inside the division.

I see no reason to believe that KC could go to DEN and suddenly stop them, but that's just my opinion. I just don't think they have enough offense, and the high-powered offense of DEN trumps any kind of stingy defense that KC has.

KC has thrived on defensive and special teams scoring this year, especially in the first half of their season when they were averaging a D/ST touchdown every 5.5 quarters. Once that dried up a bit they quickly fell back down to earth, as seen in the second half of their season when they've lost more games than they've won.

Let's look at it this way:

The more teams who we've already seen and recently prepared for, the better...

We just played both MIA and BAL, and dealt with DEN and CIN earlier in the season. This would point to likely pulling for MIA in my opinion, although we could go BAL if the hope is to have someone knock CIN out and make some possible noise.

That could help significantly in our gameplanning technique, as KC and IND are the only 2 teams that we haven't seen this year.

I'm still sticking with this logic myself. I would rather have teams in the AFC playoffs that we're familiar with. For this reason I will pick Miami. As many have pointed out, they are likely one and done anyway.

The only team that I could honestly see doing anything would be SD, so if your logic is that you want to pick the team who can beat DEN, that may be your choice. I just don't personally see DEN losing their one home game this year like so many on our forum seem to be predicting. I think if we are going to have a shot, we'll have to go to DEN and prove ourselves.

Just because Manning has gone one/done a lot doesn't mean that it's going to happen every single time. I think DEN wins their one home game and goes to the AFCCG this year.

I don't think it's automatic by any means that Denver loses at home in the first round, in fact it is unlikely that will happen, but i do think that the Chargers and McCoy have the best shot at beating them in their first game. Ultimately it really doesn't matter to me, the road for the Lombardi is going to be tough no matter who the Patriots get each week, and they will have to really play their best football for 3 games straight to win it all. regardless of what happens i think they have had a really good season and have set themselves up for a good run for the next few years.

The problem with the Chargers beating Denver is that for them to get in Baltimore would have to lose to Cincy making Cincy the 3 seed and SDs WC round opponent.
I have a hard time being confident in SD winning any 2 games in a row, much less 2 on the road, much less 2 on the road in cold climates.
I see a zero % chance of SD ending up in the AFCCG.

Given that the chances of denver losing at home in the div round, even though they did last year, are not larger, I would want Indy to play them.
Indy could show up and beat anyone or show up and lost to anyone.
I think the chance of Indy having one of their top days and winning in that spot is higher than any other playoff team but us getting there and winning it.

I am not worried about playing the AFCCG in Denver. I just really want them knocked off because that gives us a home game, because I have tickets.

Chargers because that would mean NE, Indy and SD all beat Denver in the regular season and could also do so again. I also think the Bengals defense could allow them to beat them as well. If KC gets Houston back that gives them a punchers chance. I think if you polled Pats fans and said ok the Pats aren't going to win the SB but we'll grant you one wish what would it be Manning getting another one and done would win nearly unanimously.

I don't think the Steelers, Ravens or Fins can pull that off.

I could see SD doing it but then again when it comes to the play-offs pretty much anything is possible, as the frigging Giants have demonstrated on several occasions. Ultimately i want the same thing, NE at home for the AFCCG, congratulations on the tickets. (On a side note, i am happy the Bronco's won the AFCW for one reason, I was not able to get tickets for this year's game and the one thing I want iss the opportunity to see Brady V Manning, just one time, and now that I know it will be in NE next year I will not be denied).

Your bolded comment is fine, however when you consider that he has been one and done 8 times out of 12, the odds are kind of stacked that way.
Think about that. Peyton Manning is 4-8 in first round playoff games. And anyone thinking this was a young Peyton issue, no, he is 1-4 in first round games since 2006

Other interesting things.
Out of the 8 losses, 5 were at home, 6 were in seasons they were 13-3 or better, and only 1 was to a team better than 11-5 including an 8 a 9 and a 10 win team.

I don't think there is a QB in NFL history that has done worse at winning at home in the first round of the playoffs as a pretty clear favorite.

So because the Broncos have already beaten the Chiefs twice, you think that makes them less likely to do it again? I definitely can't get on board with that logic.

Huh? Look at the scores of the past 2 games between those teams. Those were close contests. You can throw out any logic when it comes to division rival games - oftentimes the scores are a lot closer than what one would think on paper. With no von miller, KC definitely has a chance...I do feel SD is better equipped than KC to upset Denver, but can the chargers play a cold weather game in Denver?

The 6 seed will probably be playing Cinncinnati, who hasn't won a playoff game in 23 years including 2 home losses and a loss to TJ Yates.
Problem is, there are no 6 seed contenders that I have any confidence could win 2 in a row.

I think best bet for us is the 6 to lose, we face Cincy and the Indy/KC winner goes to Denver.
Wonder if Marvin Lewis can go another decade without a playoff win and still not get canned.

Thats really the only way to envision a thoroughly mediocre Charger team (first beating the Chiefs this week) winning road games vs the 3 and 1 seed in cold weather sites.

I was at this seasons game. Too bad there is no hope for the Raiders to help us to the 1 seed.

BTW, want to bet you get to see that game in September or early October? No way they will make Peyton come here in cold weather

Actually, this logic is flawed. Since the 1970 merger (modern day NFL), the team who beat its divisional opponent the first 2 times, went on to win the 3rd game 63% of the time, in a 12-7 differential. It's been talked about many times on this forum.

I hate to post a link to bleacher report due to the fact that they have amateur writers, but this was the first article I can find and it's 12:34am, so you'll have to live with it ;)

Beating a Team Three Times in One Season Is Easier Done Than Said | Bleacher Report

it doesn't make sense to draw comparisons from games played from 1970 on. the nfl is a league of parity ever since the salary cap started. A team like kC in today's league has a chance. If denver blew out KC in both previous contests, then yeah, I would agree with you that denver is a complete mismatch for KC. However, KC and Denver played both contests very close - take away von miller and the fact that KC is not afraid of going to denver, then KC can do it.

Cowboys tried to do it 3 times against the giants in 07' and failed in the game that mattered most after winning the first two contests.

I agree, they will probably make them play it in the practice dome so Peyton won't have to deal with the elements.

I have to re-watch both those games, but the stats seem to indicate both of them were close

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos - Box Score - November 17, 2013 - ESPN

Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs - Recap - December 01, 2013 - ESPN

What strikes me is the even time of possession for both teams. Denver had the edge in passing, which is understandable. However, kc had a slight edge in rushing. Can KC beat them? It's not out of the question. A couple of new wrinkles to the game plan and you never know...

I am hoping for the Chargers to get the AFC#6 seed.

I want the Ravens to miss the playoffs because that would be humiliating.

I want the Dolphins to miss the playoffs because they tried to buy wins with high priced free agents and I want that to blow up in their face.

I want the Steelers to miss the playoffs because I like when bad things happen to rapists.

Chargers? Eh, Norv isn't there. LdT isn't there. I've always liked Rivers. I guess I'm on the Chargers bandwagon.

Hmmm let's see....Roethlisberger, Flacco, Rivers, or Tannehill....

The correct answer is Miami. You do not want Super Bowl winning QBs in the mix.

When did Rivers win a Super Bowl?

When did Rivers win a Super Bowl?

Obviously I was talking about Ben and Flacco. Rivers is way more experienced than tannehill. It's all about the QB and you want to go against a. 2nd year guy vs the other 3

Yep, that's what i saw as well.

At this point what i am hoping for is Cincy in New England as the Divisional match-up, and i hope like hell it is on a Sunday.
