There is a thread opened for biggest draft blunder over the past 5 years so I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at the other side of things. I am removing Gronkowski because he is probably our best selection since Brady.

Candidates
• Marcus Cannon
• Alfonzo Dennard
• Aaron Dobson
• Julien Edelman
• Donta Hightower
• Chandler Jones
• Devin McCourty
• Stevan Ridley
• Logan Ryan
• Nate Solder
• Brandon Spikes
• Sebastian Vollmer
• Shane Vereen

If I left anyone out feel free to add them.

Personally I would say Chandler Jones is the best selection in the past 5 years, though I could make a case for a number of player’s especially McCourty. Who is your pick?

I'd say Jones, but he wasn't necessarily the best value.

McCourty. He's been pretty solid at safety and had a damn good rookie season at CB.

Hernandez doesn't count anymore?

I'd probably say Vollmer. Maybe Dennard. A lot of those guys have had too many bad/wasted seasons or haven't seen enough time to call them the best draft pick.

McCourty then Jones. For value, it's Dennard.

I refuse to take part in this thread. We are only suppose to focus on draft bust:D

Actually I was think of starting a thread, about which bust didn't we take that we might have taken had we not taken a good player.

Such as, why didn't we move up for Vernon Gohlston instead of taking Mayo.

I know you’re joking but I see Hernandez as:

Hernandez = Great draft pick
Hernandez = Worst contract extension in team history
Hernandez = Worst murder cover up in the history of Bristol County

Nuts come on man that’s so easy, if we had just got Oakland’s 1st one season earlier we could have drafted Rolando McClain… Or if McDaniels didn’t trade up Tebow would have been all ours... 2010 was just a terrible draft all around, we missed on those guys and ended up with McCourty and Gronkowski..:faint:

I'll say that punt returner kid.

2009 - Edelman

2010 - McCourty (besides Gronk)

2011 - Solder, though he hasn't been good this year

2012 - Chandler Jones, Dennard

2013 - Ryan by default

There's no way anyone beats minitron for value. Best punt returner in the league. Leads the team in reception. Closet cornerback. And plays on a one million dollar salary. Dennard is a distant 2nd.

For best overall other than Gronk, I'd have to give it to dmac. He is a 4 down player. And I honestly don't remember the last over the safety big play.

Hernandez doesn't count anymore?

The reason he was released had something to do with what was known about him before he was picked ... so the fact that he was released so soon counts heavily against him.

Best Player-Chandler Jones

Best Value-Alfonso Dennard

Best Player - Devin McCourty

Best Value - Julien Edelman

Best Pick (outside Gronk) - I'd argue from a purely football output and what he did to this team, Hernandez. 5th rounder who completely changed this Offense and was almost impossible to key in on in defence alongside Gronk.

Except he was taken in the 4th rd.

lots of good picks but I'd have to say McCourty with Dennard being the value pick.

Best Pick: McCourty

Best Value: Edelperson

I almost went with Jones on the best pick.

Hernandez is a close second on the value pick. Can't hold that contract extension against the pick.

I really can't pick one between McCourty and Jones. They're both so good.

I would say Hernandez due to value based off draft location
