I almost forgot this guy was still in the NFL.

Oh well.

Any player that makes you happy to have Blount = Disappointing :bricks:

I think there would be a lot of teams that Blount would make so i am not sure where you're coming from here.

Did you honestly expect Blount to come in here average 5 ypc and just be knocking over defenders left right and center? I think there has been much criticism of Blount and he has been a solid performer this year.

I didn't like the trade when it happened, but since then Blount has actually contributed for us and I'm happy about that!

I know some people here don't like Blount but I do. While he hasn't been game changing or anything, he has made some good plays. We certainly got the better deal between us and the Bucs. Blount has contributed to the team even if it is only a few great plays here and there. What has Demps contributed to the Bucs? Probably a wasted roster spot is all he contributed to the Bucs.

Why would you bag on Blount as a back up RB?
He's having a fine season.

Blount's touchdown on Sunday wasn't a thing of beauty, but it was an amazing effort -- the kind that lifts teams. I am hoping for even better things after the bye.

LeGarrette Blount return yardage - 349, with a long of 30
Jeff Demps return yardage - 93, with a long of 29

In addition, LeGarrette has a 4.5 ypc average with 312 yards and 2 TD's.
And Blount is still on the field.

Even as a straight-up returner, goofy as that is, Blount has been better.

You're being kinda tough on Blount. He's on pace of over 550 yds, 4.5 avg and 4 TDs, splitting time with Bolden as a backup RB. I'll take that. Granted, his KO return potential is pretty limited, but he doesn't fumble and the number of returns is less than two kickoffs per game. I'd find another whipping boy...

I was joking around to be honest.

That truth aside I am not a fan of Blount as a running back, I have no issue with him being on the roster I just don’t think he should be seeing as many carries as he has been, most of his success comes in garbage time.

Q1: 18 carries, 50 rushing yards, 2.8 average, 0 touchdowns
Q2: 13 carries, 33 rushing yards, 2.5 average, 0 touchdowns, 1 fumble
Q3: 9 carries, 27 rushing yards, 3.0 average, 0 touchdowns
Q4: 30 carries, 202 rushing yards, 6.7 average, 2 touchdowns

He had a 47 yard run for a touchdown in Q4 against Atlanta, beyond that he gained most of his other yardage in Q4 of the Tampa, Miami and Pittsburg games. I don’t think he does a lot of things well, that’s my opinion and I feel his stats are misleading.

Outside of the Pitt game all the Patriots games have been close. Wouldn't the fourth quarter be the most important? It's not like the last few years, the fourth quarter isn't garbage time, it's the time they've taken the lead and won the game.

Bloundt reminds me a little of Antowain Smith in terms of production.

He won't kill you with speed and he won't be one you would likely see as MVP of any game, but he gives you 100% effort and rarely fumbles and helps with kickoff returns.

Looks like another trade where Belichick rapes a gaping hole into the trade partner.

I don't mind Blount being mainly a 4th Quarter back. Blount has shown what he can do vs a weakened and tired defense. When Vereen comes back, Vereen + Ridley can rip it up in the first 3 quarters and wear down defenses while, hopefully, helping to get a good lead. In the 4th quarter, Blount can come in and take advantage of the weak and tired defense and hopefully make some big plays and help kill the clock while keeping Vereen and Ridley out which will lessen the chance of injuries on our best backs and letting them rest.

Lol, some of you people are amazing. How many years did we have running backs that we hoped would get 4 yds per carry, and here we have a guy averaging 4.5 yards a carry, and some of you are ripping him. Oh yes, and I absolutely love the brilliant argument that he sucks because he waits until the fourth quarter to average 6.3 ypc and has two touchdowns then. Wow, fcking amazing.

Just to point out,

Curtis Martin averaged 4, 3.6, 4.2

Corey Dillon, 4.7, 3.5, 4.1. and

Antowain Smith, 4.0, 3.9, 3.5

Blount is a decent back but when Vereen comes back I don't want to see him carry the ball until the Pats are up 10+ in the 4th.

I don't understand the lack of love for Blount. He's been a significant contributor to the Patriots on special teams and running the ball.

Look at the injuries in the NFL. If you don't have three or four backs who can get significant carries over the course of a 19 game season, you are probably in big trouble. You can't just keep feeding the ball to one guy.

It's a 53 man roster. You NEED Lagarrett Blounts to be successful in the NFL.

Blount and Demps seem like polar opposites. One is a small speedster and doesn't seem to have that big of a passion for football, while the other is a big bruiser who seems to love football. Love what Blount has done so far. He always seems to have a good time.

I highlighted the games that Blount scored the majority of his yardage in and they were against the Bucs, Atlanta, Miami and Pittsburg, and Atlanta and we were up by at least 10 points at the time that Blount gained the majority of the yards. Honestly if you don’t realize that most of his yardage comes in the final 5 minutes of the game against defeated teams you clearly are not watching the full game, because if you watched any of the tape you would see that when he is gaining his yardage it is when the outcome is pretty much determined.
