Ok.. I know I am new here but I have been a lurker for at least 2 years and post sometimes on KFFL ..

But I was checking this article out
and thought this offseason reminds me of the 02 season. Where we were extremely active Harrison/Colvin/Poole etc.. w/ such a weak class of free agents and our team still needing to fill some holes could BB pull a rabbit out of his hat and give up our 2 late first rounders for the BEST free agent out there..

We have the cap space to really target 2 or 3 impact players...

Ok I am awaiting :bricks:

Well 1st off, he said during Superbowl week he doesn't want to play in a 3-4...

Welcome to the board!

Oh, and you already took care of my response with your last line!:D

you said it its crazy its not going to happen

Yeah, thats crazy. The guy doesn't even fit the 3-4. If we're gonna go batsh*t insane over somebody, it should be Adalius.

Over $7.2 million and two 1sts for a Will linebacker?

lol that didn't take long..

I had heard that rumour too.. didn't realize it was published.. seems kind of foolish especially when a good 3-4 team could really shell out the cash for him..

Ok the dream is over thanks for the reality check guys :rocker:

Rather trade a 4th or 5th for jason babin, bring in antwan peek, pick up joey porter, draft deossie in the third, bishop in the fifth now were set at linebacker for the next few years.

Mine might be crazier more transactions.

What kind of impact are those two late first rounders going to make next year? and won't we save that money from the first rounders for others? I am just trying to think outside the box..

In a bid for Briggs it will be just one team you are bidding against .. A. Thomas bids will be thru the roof..

You think that A. Thomas is better than Briggs? Remember R. Phifer was our Will and he really was the key to the those SB runs..

i'd have to disagree and sayit was a fired up athletic younger teddy, and a beast of willie mac in his prime, with a sick secondary.

just my 2 cents

That pretty much sums up this horrible idea.

Draft picks are the lifeblood of a team, if used well, and not in the top ten, they're a great value for 5 years. Wilfork and Warren COMBINED have a cap hit of $2.7M next year.

You can't go wrong..with those choices.. for sure.. but where was that def. till Phifer came around..

What about Graham and Watson was that worth it? Both late round picks unlike Wilfork and Warren .. and does this draft have those kind of players in it?

I guess I rate Briggs higher than most..

So we have all this cap room who are we going to spend it on? Thats the question at hand.

Just found this.. I think it may have been reported earlier but.. I see us still be active.. and using our picks to our advantages in a SO-SO draft...

I see a much more aggressive approach that shouldn't of surprised us...we were well under the cap due to planning in previous years and is paying off big time. We still have in the neighborhood of $10-12mill left... I'm not saying that we should go after this guy since the AD signing but I do think that they would be willing to discard draft picks this year in return for proven commodities.

I wish somebody would disrespect me with a $7.2 million annual salary.

I wouldn't give up two 1sts for him but I'd give up #28. In a heartbeat. I don't know, the draft out of the top 10 just isn't impressing me much.

No one has any idea how this draft will turn out. If you look back at the 2005 draft, the arguably best player short of Merriman (who still could easily not pan out), to come out of the first round was Logan Mankins who many writers and analysts had down as the best OG in the NFL last year. No one at the time thought he had any business being drafted in the first round. People were screaming "why didn't BB at least trade down for more picks if no one was available". He was picked late in the 1st, and by late I mean last. There will be plenty of players available in the 20's who can step in and help this team. I cannot wait to see who we get again this year, cuz Belioli seem to know best.
