Pats release WR Quentin Sims from PS, sign DT AJ Francis

Not the guy I would have released from the PS, but not a huge deal.

What's not to get? Outside of 2 TD catches against a guy who is on the bottom of the depth chart, on a practice squad or unemployed Sims isn't anything special.

I was wondering he would get promoted to the 53, but getting cut is a complete surprise.

Brandon Loyd is probably already in Foxboro. Who get's demoted to the practice squad?

He'll be back

But can he stay healthy?

Maybe they want to demote someone and add Fells back.

Belichick wanted a PS spot to add AJ Francis. Sims was the one chosen to go. I would have chosen to waive one of the OT's, but Sims was certainly a reasonable choice.

Why would you put Sims on the active roster instead of Dobson. I'd sooner re-sign Jenkins or Hawkins or Fells or Ballard.

QUOTE=scott99;3551654]Don't get this, why not cut one of the 5000 OLinemen that will never play for the Pats that are on the practice squad. This makes NO sense especially with Amendola, Vereen and Sudfeld out. What would have made sense was him jumping to the active roster, since we are hurting offensively. Oh well.[/QUOTE]

Lloyd's done in the NFL.

Unfortunate for Sims. He seemed like a good developmental prospect but I think Francis has higher upside so the trade-off seems fair.

Good luck, Quentin. Hope to see you back soon, if anything.

I still don't get the love for Simms. He looked great in a game vs. guys who are not in the league now. But he hadn't done anything prior to that. I personally think the guy will never play a real snap in the league ever. I could be wrong, but he is Bam Childress 2.0.

Francis, on the other hand, has a chance to be make the active roster and even play at some point with the lack of depth at the position.
