Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

NOT according to the brainiacs in New Jersey. Let's see what McDaniels has planned for Tebow before passing judgment on this move.

You make a good point. I suppose BB saw something useful in him. I'm just pissed that we picked up a seemingly useless player, but who knows. Maybe he will fit well into our offense.

Because of the embarrassment I feel being a fan of a team with tebow on it
Jangles, where were you in 2007?:)
Relax, morons, if he stays at QB he will be scout team QB for teams that play the pistol. That is IF he makes it from the 90 to the 53.

Why is it such a big deal if Tebow preaches about something he believes in? I swear the double standard with Christians. If he were muslim nobody would be saying anything. I don't think Tebow brings much to the table but, if BB is able to avoid the media circus that comes with him, **** it why not?

When asked if the play was designed as a QB run or if that was improvisation if the muslim QB replies "Allah is great!" and nothing else - Tebow is on record with "I'd like to thank my lord and savior ************," to totally non-religious football questions.
When that happens I'll criticize the muslim player's religion.
BTW, Froob, name 2 muslim players? I'm not being sarcastic, I really do not know of any.

=============================================

Well it's true I am in a good mood, but I am not laughing at any one.

I am a Tebow fan and wish him the best. Also am and always was a big Woodhead fan.

Woodhead is a great example of the Jets not putting him in a position to succeed, where as BB did. Maybe BB does it with Tebow too. Although I do feel that is unlikely.

Thing is, this signing will change the dynamics of Patsfans.com, for the worse, IMHO, until Tebow leaves.

He has a cult of personality that people can't get enough of.

Remember this on the front page of NY papers.

Watch the circus evaporate under BB. Nobody quashes player-driven distractions like Bill. He's a PR magician. The New Jersey Green Beans, on the other hand, have a permanent red carpet laid out for self-destructive crapola.

Also, keep in mind that Tebow has not yet made the team. But all things considered, it's yet to be seen what Tim can do with a professional organization.

I think he's here as a long term project. This is McDaniels' baby. He thinks: this guy can be Steve Young.

It would also make sense for the people gushing over the signing of Tebow to explain to me how he improves the 46? Sure, it's an early stage of the season but the Patriots just signed Tim Tebow and there are Free Agents still available who actually fill positions of need on the Patriots.

I haven't seen anyone gushing over the signing. Point me to a post, because I haven't seen it. I have seen people, like me, who take it for what it is, a bottom of the roster signing. And people acting like little kids in the lunch room who just had their milk money taken away by a bully.

90 man roster in June. What is the big deal? Who's out their at WR that you want the Pats to sign? And who is to say they don't make a trade in the next two months, it wouldn't be the first time BB has done that.

I don't get the extreme negative and I have yet to see anything close to comparable of the idiocy of the negative comments from the positive perspective. Again, I see most folks taking it as a low risk, high reward type signing and then the dudes that "want to jump off a cliff" or are "embarrassed to root for a team with Tebow on it" or....well you get the point.

I have not seen anyone asking the most important question....is Ryan Mallet giving up his #15 Jersey?

Rapsheet: Patriots to sign Tim Tebow

I think Tebow is Brady's successor!

I don't think he should.

There's a whole host of posts mcgolby. Re-read the thread and you'll see all the evidence you need. Whilst I completely agree in regards to your early season 90 man roster, I'm looking at September. I don't see how a player who isn't going to sniff the Quarterback position is a meaningful acquisition for a spot as a Wide Receiver, Running Back or as some project, a Tight End.

If you're going to take low risk, high rewards signings do it with players who know how to play a position, not roster projects whilst you're in the middle of a supposed championship run. I'm OK with the state of the Patriots O, the D on the other hand would look quite nice with an Abraham type of veteran (yes, I'm well aware of that current position).

Low risk/ low reward. Only down side is the roster slot we could have used to see what Rask looks like in the secondary.

What if all this means is that BB thinks he can be an improvement at the #3 quarterback spot over Kafka?

Maybe if tebow gives him a year supply of diapers cos mallett is gonna be ****ting his pants when he sees tebow throw.

HYPOTHETICALLY, if Brady gets hurt then Mallet gets hurt is there another QB out there who could run this team? Look what BB did with Brady and Cassel. If Tebow can do anything like he's proven in the past albeit unconventional, BB will know how to utilize it.

At worst, Tebow will be cut and we'll see the Pats a lot more in the news. Which as a Pats fan is a nice change from the usual passive approach the media has for this team.

That's simply not true. Your opinion, despite being shared and echoed by many, runs counter to the facts. Tebow was a tremendous success as a starting QB. That's the irony for the Tebow haters.

isn't he 8-5 with one playoff win?

I'm not a hater - but has the bar sunk that low as to what constitutes a "tremendous success" in your assessment?

That's not a glowing endorsement on Kafka is it?

There are indeed UFAs available who could fill positions of need here, e.g.: Brandon Moore, Sheldon Brown,
Sedrick Ellis, Devery Henderson, John Abraham;
there is also useless flotsam already on the 90 who could be easily jettisoned to make room for them, e.g:
James Develin, Chris McDonald, Koutovides, Rivera, Kanorris Davis, Stephon Morris.
Signing Tebow to a make-good contract does not change the above situatiion in any way whatsoever.

BB never ceases to amaze me what he can pull out from under his cut sleeves. This is vintage Belichick and just took back pages from Denver and Welker signing.

I have read the entire thread and Deuce is the only one that really stands out from a positive perspective and nothing he has said even comes close to the two posts I pointed out.

*Edit: Calling Tebow a tremendous QB is close but not equal.... :)

I think his potential upside/versatility is worth a flyer. I would be all for an Abraham type signing as well, but I don't see a situation where the Tebow signing instantly excludes an Abraham type signing. And I don't think signing a bottom roster guy would impact the front office decision making process on a top 25 roster guy.

In addition, I believe BB likes what he has at DE/OLB. I also think Bequette is a guy many are over looking as well as Francis. To me WR is the biggest unknown on the team, which is why I threw that out there in my response.

I have been consistent with my stance on it throughout the post, but have a hard time ignoring ignorant comments from people acting like his signing is the end of the world.

Even our beloved BB isn't above f'ing with Rex and the Jets. Imagine the trashy satisfaction BB will enjoy should he turn Tebow into a real NFL QB!!

The Gang Green will riot in the streets! Rex Ryan burned in effigy while Mark Sanchez is exiled to Menlo Park, and Geno "don't-ask-me-one-more-f'ing-time-about-why-I-slipped-in-the-draft-and-fired-my-fi'ng-agent" Smith mopes around the field saying, "why do we always play at Giants Stadium?" :rocker:
