I hope he works out better than the last FA Ellis we acquired.

The last Ellis was pretty decent given the role we brought him in for.

Shaun Ellis was never the stater the Pats wanted him to be. They gave him starter money and then he got hurt and couldn't even beat out Deadrick. You can bet they won't make the same mistake with this Ellis.

Indeed.

What an horrid signing that was. :nooo:

Yet another case where you wonder ~ the moment it happens ~ what the Hell Bill was thinking.

A lot of times, it eventually becomes clear, afterward, that his access to far better information than we have access to made for a smart move, despite looking dubious to some of us at the time it was made.

But all too often, I find my initial, knee-jerk "WTF???" reaction to prove to be all too correct. :nooo:

It would be ironic if the Pats signed the guy who was drafted with the pick the Pats traded down for to get Mayo after they "lost out" on Vernon Gholston because the Jets "outmaneuvered" them (apparently by staying the spot they were scheduled to draft and taking one of the biggest busts in league history).

BTW, the Saints should never trade for the Pats first round pick ever again. They did it twice in the last 5 years which netted them Sederick Ellis and Mark Ingram.

In those trades, the Pats netted Nate Solder, Chandler Jones (had to use another pick to trade up), and Jerod Mayo while the Saints got Ellis, Ingram, and Carl Nicks (ironically, the best player they got in the trades with the Pats was from the Pats' 5th round pick the Pats swapped in the deal with the Saints for a third to go along with the first in 2008).

You forgot my boy Shane Vereen, there, pal.

Wait a minute...Nate Solder??? :bricks:

That was the Raider Pick for Richard Seymour, Bro.

Carl Nicks & the very disappointing but at least somewhat useful Sedrick Ellis Versus Jerod Mayo & the completely useless Shawn Crable is a damned good Deal for New Orleans, if you ask me.

Yet then they let Nicks ~ already a 2 Time All Pro ~ go for nothing, and let Ellis ~ a Bust, but a cheap and useful Reserve ~ go for nothing, as well, while the Patriots decide to invest heavily in a 2nd Contract for Mayo.

The Salary Cap makes analyzing Trades a sketchy undertaking, my friends. :nooo:

I would also note that ~ while you made mention of it, in all fairness ~ the 93rd Pick in the Draft ~ the Cost to move up for Chandler Jones ~ isn't Chicken Feed, and deserves more than a side note.

Essentially, we traded XB Mark Ingram & DT Brandon Thompson for XB Shane Vereen & DE Chandler Jones...which is a damned fine (composite) Trade, and will hopefully prove to be spectacular.

Rob's referring to the famous Rayge Rayge nutbag postulation that the Jets screwed the Pats ...again of course...by taking Goiatston...THE most idiotic football fan take in internet history probably...he practically semenized the entire internet gushing about the Jets new "BEAST!!!!!!!" while completely mocking and disparaging the Pats for taking Mayo, who he declared a bust immediately.

the funny thing is ,after the draft, stories started to leak out that BB sauckered Tannendunce into flinching and making the knee jerk move to draft Ghoslton...the raging Nuts Nuts went full nuclear launch on those reports and repeatedly claimed, now get this, that BB planted those stories in the press because he had egg on his face from the Jets sneaking up to 6 to nab the prized "Lonely Walks" guy.

Funny, the Rayge of Green Wrath still thinks the Goatston pick was a good one....Jet fan....always hard at work pounding out the "news"....

:rocker:

Bravo. Well done, Joker!

Shaun Ellis will always have a warm place in my heart for that hit he put on Tomlinson in that first Jets game in the 2011 season. He didn't have to do anything else all year after that, and he was fine by me. "WE PHYSICAL, THEY FINESSE", said Tomlinson as his head almost completed a 180 degree turn.

Please, there's only one LT, and it's Lawrence Taylor.

My bad about Solder. I was writing something else and put him in there for some unknown reason.
