Take it for what its worth. I dont have access to the whole stroy, but rumors in Mobile were that the Pats may cut Dillon. But Im pretty sure it would cost more to cut him then keep him. Probably B.S. but anyone with access to the rest of that please share.

That's called a teaser.

Gets you to pay for the rest of the story where they say it doesn't make sense.

Pats carry only 3 rb/fb not including heath miller. plenty of room for a young back or 2.

Dillon just signed and it would cost nearly as much to cut as to keep, from what i understand.

These guys are pretty loose with what constitutes a source.

When the best they can come up with is "rumors and rumblings" it means "I think I'll start a rumor" and "I shouldn't have eaten that chili dog from 7-11".

They sure aren't cutting him to save CAP. The only way
I could see them cutting him is if they absolutely need
his roster slot.

Isn't Dillon's 2006 salary guaranteed? I don't think that they can cut him right now even if they wanted to.
They can cut him even if his salary is guaranteed. They just have to pay him whether he is on the team or not.

I heard it would actually cost the Pats more to cut him than to keep him.

Therefore, I say there is no way he gets cut.

That site is total BS and it's a shame. I read it (my sister has access through the Browns' site) and it's basically - there was this rumor but it was shot down and isn't happening. The Browns' site is really good, the Patriots' one is pathetic and should be ashamed of itself. $79 a year too, what a farce.

The Pats would take something like a $5mil cap hit if they released him.

Dillon MAY be released

and I MAY be able to talk the final eight cheerleaders into hopping nude into my jacuzzi.

Can you tape that for us?

They tried to recruit us to run that section several years ago when we first launched PatsFans.com following our stint with Rivals.com. We politely said no.

Ian

Regarding their current headline of :

"Matt Light: Road to recovery a long one"

It makes it sound like he still has big problems and a long way to go. What it really talks about is the fact that he almost came back in December but had a setback. Real breaking news there :D

The sad thing is, the Browns' site with scout.com is really, really good. But the Patriots' site is a pretender. I can see why they talked to Ian to try to get someone who is actually reputable.

Beacuse he should still be an effective runner for approx. the next two years, Dillon won't be cut because it is cheaper to have him on the roster than cutting him.

You were eating that chili dog with Tom Brady and Jennifer Aniston or was that Jessica Alba.

The rest of the story says that if they did release him it would be after June 1. Thereby spreading out the cap hit for 2 years. Lets face facts, he has nagging injuries and is 31, and a coach said when RB lose it,they lose it quick. I don't think Patriots brass would feel confident going into next year with the same core of RB as last year. I think they will address it via FA and a 3rd or beyond draft pick.

It also says :

"The chances of that outcome happening look to be remote now."

It's just attention grabbing B.S.

There is a problem with that. 1) There is no CBA Extension, yet. 2) If there is no CBA Extension, there is no June 1 spreading of amortization hits this year. You cut a player and you take the ENTIRE hit this year. Just as if the player was traded.

It seems unlikely that they'd cut him. He is getting older and the injuries were a problem this past season, but it's difficult to envision them picking up anybody better, at least for next season, through the draft or free agency.
