Re: Schefter: Wes possibly going to Denver

Congrats BB, you have seriously downgraded our team and created one of the best WR trios in the last 10 years on an AFC rival!

Re: Schefter: Wes in serious talks with Denver

This would be the ultimate betrayal. He goes to the Jets, it don't matter. He goes to a contender, it might take that team over the top.

If true, best of luck to you Wes (except against the Pats), you will always be one of my favorites.

I posted this in another thread:

Well, if the Broncs get him it will be very disappointing. If he goes for decent money (IE not too expensive), it will be really upsetting. The Pats will need to make up for the loss and I ain't excited for Danny Amadola. I think the only thing that would work is signing Victor Cruz or making a trade for another solid WR.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

If this happens, I want to see what the deal is before I get outraged.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

If I recall correctly the Broncos dont have much money to do this so he will likely come back realizing our offer is still best. Or the Broncos will mortgage the future to bring him in by backloading and guarenteeing a lot. We will see what happend but still seems like an agent ploy to me. How to make the Pats panic the most try and convince them he will go to Manning.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Cmon BB don't let this happen.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

If it's not for a massive massive pay day I'll be pissed.

If he moves for similar money it's because of how he's been treated and that would be a real failing on the part of the front office

Pretty much where I'm at. I'd have to see what the contingency plan is before deciding whether it was the right call or not.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Pats better realize what's going on and ante up to retain him. If not, I am hoping they go after Amendola/Edelman/Cribbs, big bodied X receivers, and retool this offense to be less focused on the "dink and dunk."

Wes leaving like this - to play for Peyton - would be a huge betrayal.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

First let me say this. I was WW on the team.

But, would it leave more opportunity in the middle for our TEs if he wasn't there as well? Granted, i feel it's a net loss and they would need 1-2 WRs to take the middle to long part of the field to make a change worth making.

Still, let's hope it falls apart because we don't WW to have to compare Manning and Brady :(

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Key part of the tweet is a "decision" is expected today. Let's hope the Patriots put something together to make sure he makes one to remain here.

Let's not go overboard. Thomas and Decker had great years last year, but they gotta show that last year wasn't a fluke for either one. Thomas had under 1,000 yards his first two years combined although he had Tebow throwing to him in his second year, but he couldn't stay healthy in either of those years.

As for the Pats, we should wait until we see what the Pats do before we judge if the Pats seriously downgrades the team. If the Pats use Welker's money and significantly improves the defense, this team could be significantly better even if the passing game takes a hit.

And we don't even know if Welker is gone yet.

Betrayal? give me a break. He has done everything for this organization and the organization refuses to pay him what he deserves. How many 100+ reception seasons? If you want to talk betrayal, look towards the Pats front office, not WW.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Denver is going to be scary and we now have a huge hole to fill with no one out there. Could this be the uear the O actually downgrades? With their schedule. They cant

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

This is as suspected. We discussed this last week. Denver, Indy and Engand were our best bets for a landing place for Welker.

The team has the money to sign Welker. Brady has given them that, if some think that the team didn't have the room before.

The team has a certain value in mind for Welker, as they have shown by their action of the last couple of years.

I hope that Welker makes a decision soon so that we can move on with decision-making with regard to wide receivers.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Jesus people, relax. It's like some of you have never been through free agency before. No one is reporting a deal is done, or even that it's imminent, calm down.
