Today's NFL is near impossible for Dynasties. PERIOD.

Injuries - Brady 2008, Gronkowski 2011,2012, Ty Warren

Free Agency/Cap Casualties - Teams never had to deal with FA in the 70s,80s,early 90s. We've lost Richard Seymour, Willie McGinest, Ty Law, Asante Samuel, Deion Branch (in his prime)

Retirement - Rodney Harrison, Tedy Bruschi, Matt Light, Kevin Faulk, etc.

Lack of Coaching Continuity - Coaches jump ship much quicker now than any other era of football. We've lost Charlie Weiss, Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Josh McDaniels, Bill O'Brien, Dom Capers.

Lets be honest. We're lucky we have even had a chance at a 2nd Dynasty with BB and Brady. We should be in rebuilding mode right now, but luckily the 2010-2012 Drafts have all been very good and supplied a wealth of young new players. BB was smart enough to accumulate a ton of draft picks. It helped the Patriots skip over the rebuilding period after all those veteran Dynasty players were gone around the 2008-2010 years.

No other team has been to as many SB's as the Patriots in the last 10 years. No other team has been to as many Conference Championship games.

If you think it's tough being a Pats fan, think about what its like to be a Browns fan. Or even a Broncos fan. Or Chargers fan. Or Raiders fan. Cowboys, Texans, Seahawks, etc etc. Basically a fan of any other NFL team. Where were the Giants this year? Steelers?

Even the Falcons, Packers, and Ravens are going to be decimated by losing a bunch of players this off-season (Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Johnny Abraham, Tony Gonzalez, Greg Jennings, Charles Woodson)

Enjoy this Patriots era while you can. It might not last much longer.

2006 - the pats were a 2nd half collapse from winning it all...they would have beaten the bears
2007 - freakish catch and a blown INT
2011 - pretty damned close...

it is officially a dynasty when announcers root against the pats simply because they're sick of seeing them in the general vicinity of a championship constantly......

what burns me is that we should have 6 SB's right now......do you know how much hte people would hate the pats then?

2 losing years in 19
13 playoff appearances in those 19
30 playoff games over those 19

it as dynastic as it can get. NOBODY has had a 20 year run like that......and it'll keep going after brady is done....watch

Dynasties are measured by Rings.... nothing else.

c'mon man...you got the most famous 44 year straight dynasty in foot ball history staring you right in the face...season after season....The Buttfumble SOJ Dynasty...rarely imitated, NEVER duplicated.

I'm pretty sure players retired in the old days

also, I just happened to check some stuff out which I'll pass along.

think they launched free agency in '89, and salary cap in '94.
apparently, the great montana led niners had a bit of a salary edge in '90 -- they had a 25% higher payroll than the other 3 final 4 teams, 50% higher than league median, and 100% higher than a division rival.

can you imagine how sweet that'd be for the pats the last 5 years?

Even if NE had won this SB and then the next one, you could not call 2001-2014 a dynasty. There are a grand total of two players on the team that were on the roster in 2004. Dynasties are the same core of players.

NE has been very good for the past 12 season. But it is not the same team. Anymore than you can lump the Steelers most recent SB win as a continuation of the Iron Curtain years.
