Woodhead is nothing compared to what vereen can be.

Vereen reminded me of ladainian tomlinson against the texans.

But classier, right?

It pleases me that people are beginning to look at Vereen as a game changer. Some of us proposed that quite some time ago.

BB has been murdering the draft these past few years.

It's truly remarkable that someone with this much skill and upside was a 4th in the depth chart.

Vereen's speed and hands had my jaw on the floor.

Can't give up the deep ball. The Patriots were notorious for doing so at the beginning of the year...they got better but I'm still worried about Boldin and Smith

As opposed to last yr, been confident Patriots would win AFC all yr. Even at 3-3. I'm not as confident now. Why? Trying to figure that out

If they were facing the Broncos in Denver, I wouldn't pause in taking the Patriots.

I never bought into Peyton this year. At all “@breaktuesday: Understandable, but Peyton being Peyton doesn't scare you?”

Greg A. Bedard ‏@GregABedard
Mostly Gronk, I think “@EpicJeffTime: because Flacco playing better?”

Greg A. Bedard ‏@GregABedard
Million $ question “@thegraytshirt99: Does our explosive running attack offset the loss of Gronk? How many weapons do you need?”

Say what you want but Julian edelman blitzing Vince Young and hitting him was the highlight of the 2011 regular season for me :D

Damn is there a video of this? Was at basic training for most of the season.

The Ravens are well equipped to beat New England. They get pressure up the middle. They can play center field with one player on deep routes. They mix it up on D and are unpredictable due to their football IQ on D.

On offense they have a true power running game adept at attacking the middle or pinning the edge. Their WR block well in the run game and play physical, making them even more viable over the top. They love to throw it deep. It's no coincidence the Niners used a similar approach. The other thing that scares me about this team right now is that they are really attacking the seams with the TE, I don't know if this is a Caldwelll thing, but it certainly works well with their middle run game.

Wildcard for me is, fatigue. What do they have left. Great, long emotional hard fought win, reminded me of our game in SD 06. Now, I really don't want to fall behind like the colts did early in that championship game, but I could see them being gassed in the 4th. Hell they looked gassed at the end of the Broncos game.

My 2 cents!

Keep brady standing and they will score points on this ravens defense.....I think they can be exploited

Brady had a good game against them In baltimore early in the season..and that was with Webb and ngata/lewis healthy.

I'm more concerned with how our defense limits that ravens offense. IMO

Just was reading his stuff on Twitter. Seems a bit foggy on how the Gronk absence will hurt the Pats.I mean, let's face it, Pats will be without truly great player. But they have repeatedly shown an ability to score without him -- there's just so much versatility on offense. Curious to see what Bedard sees in Pats DBs vs Ravens receivers.

Would love to hear some thoughts from players like Troy Brown and Tedy Bruschi on this. They were there in 06-07. How real i the fatigue factor.

Yes pats have shown the ability to score without him but this is a different defense .As bedard again tweets

It's always a grind for him vs. spin-the-dial defenses “@AlessandraL12: you and I both know Tom isn't that good against the Ravens D. Why?”

Greg A. Bedard ‏@GregABedard
Neither can the Patriots w/o blitzing “@olddroolingdog: they still have no pass rush. Have to blitz. Should be some big plays available.”

Greg A. Bedard ‏@GregABedard
Ability to vary how you rush passer combined with different coverages & pre, postsnap looks “@mylesdeal: what is a spin the dial defense?”

I admit, I have a man crush for vereen, same as I picked Alfred Morris on the redskins to break out. Vereen is going to be really good I think. Hes got all the tools, and insights a great RB needs. Just hope he can clear the last hurdle with me, durability.

I re-watched the Ravens-Broncos game in hopes of getting a better sense of what to expect, but I think it's really hard because it was a game with so many mistakes on both sides, not just the obvious ones (TWO special teams touchdowns given up by the Ravens, a horrendous fumbled snap) but lots of wide receiver drops and stupid penalties. Of course, as we know, the Broncos, in the end, made more.

I did, though, see three things to worry me.

Torry Smith (obv.) Clearly, if the Patriots can't defend him better than the Broncos did or they did last time it could be a long afternoon. But I didn't see the Broncos get real pressure on Flacco except a couple of times when they flushed him from the pocket and forced him to throw it away. That's supposed to be a pretty good pass rush. Unless the Patriots can do better it could get tough. And then there's Rice. When I watched the game live he didn't seem that effective to me -- Caldwell seemed to be running him up the middle for a couple of yards on first down and it was predictable. I only noticed how dangerous he was in the second half on looking again.

On the other hand, I can't believe that the Patriots receivers will drop as many balls as the Broncos did or have a running game that isn't more effective. If they can get the hurry-up going, watch out old men!

Bottom line. If they had the Gronk I'd be pretty confident. As it is, I'm optimistic. And, let's face it, if they can't handle the Ravens what chance do they have against San Francisco (or Atlanta)?

Go Pats!

one interesting Matchup is Brandon Lloyd....in the ravens game earlier in the season he had a BIG game with 108yards and was getting open regularly in man coverage..

now, I'm not sure who was covering him there but that was before Webb was injured. so I would expect he should have a favorable matchup on sunday

Every one gets antsy on a big game.

If we are going to Denver, these guys would have called that Denver will demolish. The excuse will be I would have been confident if this game is NE.

One thing... The people still have no clue about PATS and how they get ready. The Ravens are good team but not WOW team. Not a Defensive power that all these morons are ****ting in their pants team. Not on the level of 49ers or 1976 Bears Defense. Listening to the idiot Felger and Bedard, I get the feeling that Ravens are million times harder than 1976 Bears Defense. They are not. Not even Ravens of recent years.

BB has been keeping Vereen a secret. Just see what he does with Vereen. If Woodhead was there last game, Vereen would have been unveiled this week. One thing BB learned is we need to have a surprise element for playoffs.

I watched several Ravens games this year. They are not a great Defense. They could not stop run or pass. Keep the faith in BB & Brady. If we come out flat and have 3 fumbles and 2 interceptions, we will lose but trust what you saw this year. We will score 40+ points on this Defense.

Age has to be a factor in this game. I think the Oregon no huddle will be a factor for the Ravens on defense and NEs younger players on defense could be the difference for the Pats assuming they dont make mistakes.

It appears like the defense is coming together better this season than the last several years.

I'll echo what others have said and wonder if the extra football played by the Ravens could be a factor as the game goes on this sunday. Damn I wish it was sunday already...

You mean the '85 Bears? Bears went 7-7 in 1976.

I get the point though, and I agree. This is not the 2000 Ravens either!

I haven't seen alot mentioned about Mankins. Is it just me or did he look the best he has in a long time? Vollmer too seems to be full strength, those are huge keys right now.

Solder and Mankins were both beasts against Houston.

Somehow, despite that, we still weren't able to run behind the latter.
