The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

I'm sure you're mistaken. I have read many posts on JI and GG noting that if Brady was taken away from the Pats, the Rats would have a superior roster overall.

Other lumps of gold gleaned from those sites:

Going into the last game Quentin Coples was licking his chops at the prospect of going up against Nate Solder

Stevan Ridley was a 5th round talent that BB reached for in the 3rd round.

C'mon, 10,000 rodents can't be wrong.

The Jets did have a better overall roster than the Patriots in 2009 and 2010. The problem is most of the key players on those teams got old/injured and their FO has been horrendous at replacing those guys through the draft.

You sir have my undying respect.

I could make an argument for Tannenbaum being the worst GM in football. The Jets have pretty much no top tier talent on their team, and will be close to 20 million over the cap in 2013.

Yes, but let's see who they end up with. ;) It likely will be someone without a track record, because nobody in demand will want that job.

Just think mangina drafted the players Inky Dinky Do used to reach the championship game twice.

It just occurred to me why Wrecks decided not to hire his brother: Wrecks knows he's on thin ice and if he is canned next season or the one after, they'll be competing against each other for a DC job somewhere.

OK ...OK...OK....you poor guys are trying hard to really nail it down...but Unca Joker is here to provide you all with THE BEST EVIDENCE of Jet fan insanity extant....just read this a few times and you too will "BELIEVE!!!!"....

Yes, stuck.

Only the uber homers on this board such as yourself and sg3 already view Sanchez as a Top 10 QB. The reality is, he's not close to that at this point in time.

There was no need for this. The only way this makes sense is if we end up bringing in a guy like Mario Williams. If no Peyton, then the Jets should've rode out this season with Sanchez on his current deal and if he showed significant improvement, THEN sign him to an extension next offseason.

If he takes us to the AFCCG twice in the next three years, while you're crying about his contract, then I LOVE being "STUCK"

He got the same money as Kevin Kolb and Ryan Fitspatrick, and that money isn't even guaranteed

There WAS A need for the move, on several levels, you are just too naive, or too caught up in your mindless and baseless agenda to see it.

- Frees up a huge amount of cap space
- Converts money into guaranteed money that already existed on his existing deal
- New money isn't guaranteed, Jets have an out after the next 2 years if need be
- Despite the media SPUN off-season, it sends a huge statement to Sanchez himself, and the so-called "unnamed sources," or any other doubter that they are committed to Sanchez and the body of work the last 3 years provides PLENTY of just reasoning. This is big because the locker room doesn't have to wonder about the QB of the team, they don't have to wonder if he's a lame duck or not, they can either strap it on and get on board, or be gone.

It was a HUGE move, the right move, a savvy move, a fiscally positive move, a GREAT move!!!!

Green candy ain't it???

Sorry Joker, but I don't get it. I think Ray Ray's right. In fact, I think the Jets should quell all the uncertainty right now and guarantee the rest of Sanchez' contract so that there's no doubt about which direction they're heading in ...

New Jacksonville GM Dave Caldwell (who the Jets reportedly wanted to hire) on Tim Tebow:

Caldwell slams the door on a Tebow homecoming | ProFootballTalk

:bricks:

It was even worse than that for Tebow, whom I believe always felt the Jags were his fallback for the asking. Caldwell repeated the answer when asked - and added "even if he is released". Khan may have wanted Tebow to put fannies in seats, but last season was the time for that. Now he's hired his own GM whom he's empowered to hire his own HC and their goal will be to build a solid winning foundation in Jacksonville. May have to wait a year on the QB piece.

Wouldn't surprise me if Tebow lands in the CFL because that's really the only place his particular QB skills might be in demand. And I do not think he is ready to abandon his lifelong goal of playing the position. He switched HS's over it.

It just occurred to me why Wrecks decided not to hire his brother: Wrecks knows he's on thin ice and if he is canned next season or the one after, they'll be competing against each other for a DC job somewhere.

Woody should sign Rob to a one year 2 mil contract for GM. Rex would freak out and quit, saving Woody 6 mil. He then fires Rob paying him the 2 mil. This saves him 4 mil in the end on Rex's contract. Next he makes Tebow the HC so Sanchez walks. Hopefully he's reading this.

Tebow needs to reboot his career as a fullback or H-back.

You know how bad the Jets season has been?

How bad?

So bad that the stories comparing Houston's situation with the 2010 playoff win by the Jets, are the highlight of every Jet fan THIS season.....and the last real positive news the Jets have gotten since their win over Buffalo in Sept......and will likely be the best news they have until 2014 ;)

Don't ever change, Mike. MT @RichCimini: Westhoff spares no one. Says defense let opponents march downfield after sp tms pinned them deep.

And Westhoff seems like such a nice guy ....

And it could get worse. Here's what I hope for,
- Unable to hire qualified GM hinders draft and free agency prep.
- Pats demolish next 3 opponents: Danny Woodhead, superbowl mvp

He's always been a bit of a cannon. Hell, take a read at what he's said about the Tebow situation. He basically lit a bomb and dropped it in Sparano's/Ryan's laps on the way out the door.

Westhoff said his special-teams role with Tebow was expected to be “one percent” of Tebow’s total package. “It was supposed to only be a fraction, and it ended up being his only role,” Westhoff said.

“I don’t think anyone’s ever really answered that question,” Westhoff said. “Why didn’t we do it? I honestly don’t know. I know we didn’t practice it. We didn’t practice it in training camp. We were gonna unveil it. Well, I’m still waiting for the unveiling.”

Westhoff sounds off on Tebow situation | ProFootballTalk

Westhoff sobers up enough to hurl Sparano and Wrecks under the bus. All he did was give voice to what everyone else wondered all season long -- WHERE was the Tebow wildcat?

The KC Chiefs requested permission to interview Jets Asst. HC/Linebackers coach Bob Sutton...and hired him as their DC. Rex's guys are scattering.

Rumor now has it if Rob can't find a DC job (and it's been more than 5 minutes since he was out of work) he may join his evil twin in the swamp. Since Thurman has already been named as DC and Rob would need cover of title promotion to cover being left to join his brothers staff, this would seem to be his new gig.
