Well, since OTG's prediction we've gone from tied all at 3-3 in the division to having the rest of the AFC East looking into the rear-view mirror. By winning the next two games we can probably clinch the division.

Well done, OTG. :rocker:

With 5 games to play after this week the Jets are 4 back plus double losses, so they are effectively eliminated. The Bills are at least 3 back with double losses, possibly more. And the Dolphins are at least 3 back. Win next week against Miami and the division essentially clinched (4 up on Miami plus a win with 4 to go; 4 or more up on the Jets with 2 wins with 4 to go; 3 or more up on Buffalo with 2 wins with 4 to go), even if Buffalo and Miami win this weekend.

If one was to use a magic number system to determine a clinch of a division,I would put NEs number of the division title at '3' which would be with any Dolphins loss or NE win.

Agreed. 3 wins likely sews up the division. 4 wins almost certainly does.

But, as Coach would say, win out and go from there. Whatever it takes to win the division.

I am actually looking forward to those Miami games this year. :D

Thanks for your kind ~ theoretical ~ words, Brother.

I am of course, just along for the ride, like all of us.

But what a fine ride, indeed, rooting for this magnificently led team!! :rocker:

they are staying away in droves...you know the ones...as I do and everyone else who has had to wade through the hundreds of weekly doom and gloom threads put up by these eternally pessimistic morons...thread totals will plummet this week BUT thread integrity will skyrocket

They likely have this very thread on their screen with their answer already typed in and ready to submit, should the Pats fail. But it hasn't happened and they go away bitter, ready to herald the end again as soon as the Pats lose.

Sorry lives.

It is indeed a Privilege to ride this Great Ride with you, my Brothers...and you few but noteworthy Sisters.

LOVE that Song!! :rocker:

Pats up 28 on the Texans with 14 minutes to play. I'd say we're look at 7 in a row, and 1/3 of the way to Grid's prediction.

:youtheman:, Brother Grid. People scoffed at you when you started this thread. If this team continues to play at this level, it will stand with the best teams of the BB era. Any of them.

And it's a young team that should be set for several years.

Kill shot indeed.

If New England can do the same with the 49'rs, then I have no reservations about 13-3 and a 1st round bye, if not the 1 seed and home field throughout.

You know who I'm more worried about? Jacksonville. The Patriots have to go down to their home and they have nothing to lose. They'd love to spoil New England's rise in playoff status. They still have some good players down there, and if their fans get into it, then it could be a hallmark of this season for them to beat the Patriots. I don't think they will, of course, but they are the one team, even more so than Miami that I'd worry about right now.

Miami could still play tough in that final game, but honestly, they'll have their trailers packed and ready to pull chocks as soon as their plane lands back home. I just don't see them putting up anything more than a token defense to make the game respectable.

Of course, the Texans thought they'd make a respectable game too, and look where THAT got them. :D

The 49'rs are a bit of an enigma, because New England just hasn't played them that often these past years. Big Vince says he's going to be watching tape tonight when he gets home to start preparing for them. THAT ought to put the fear of the Gods into San Francisco because Vince leads by example.

Great thread, glad to see it still purring along.

Ahh... that would be a big tasty 7 in a row about right now!

Where are all the posters saying that OTG was a fool, now?

I know!

They're drinking a big tall glass of shut the hell up!

One game at a time.

If we beat the 49ers, I expect the team to have something of a letdown against Jacksonville. They will have spent a huge amount of physical and emotional energy with 2 games in 6 days against Houston and the 49ers. And then to go on the road. But they are mentally tough, and vastly superior, and I would expect a win. A sloppy win in the last game or two might not be a bad thing - an opportunity for BB to serve up some "humble pie" going into the playoffs. I do NOT want to look back on the 2012 season and say that this game was the peak. The peak needs to come in February.
