JACK DEL RIO LIKES HIS BUBBLE BATHS

We need to hit the "pause" button for a moment as to the ongoing flow of football-related news and information to share a little nugget that a reader has forwarded to us regarding the water consumption habits of Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio.

Per Owen Holmes of a regional publication known as Folio Weekly, the Del Rio household is the No. 5 consumer of water in all of Jacksonville. Consider the following blurb from the January 23-29 cover story titled "Water Hogs":

1.76 million gallons!?!?!

The annual bill of $6,219 works out to $518.25 per month. Sure, Del Rio can afford it. But he's definitely living up to his surname, which means "of the river" in Spanish. (And now you can no longer say that you haven't learned anything from PFT, other than various synonyms for the word "poop.")

That's hilarious.

soudns like he's part of some underground smuggling operation that uses tons of water for production. or he's really thirsty.

Three words: Purity of Essence.

That's 4800 gallons per day or 200 gallons per hour..........

THere has to be some kind of leak somewhere, maybe between the mane and his house. Either that or he has some kind of massive underground hydroponic marijuana growing operation.

This is going to be worth following.

Either that or it's one of these cases where somebody added a few zeroes inadvertantly and he gets an outrageous bill. If it is a leak, I expect a sinkhole to develop real soon........

I wonder if the 61 acre lot size and the address with the words "Golf and Country Club" has anything to do with it?

Thats a .61 acre lot as in just over half an acre. I bet we'll read that the consumption is for the whole development. I know that at our winter home all outside water usage is calculated on one meter and the residents split the cost evenly.

How many daughters does he have?

At my old house in Florida, which was on a half acre lot, I had a water bill over a 2 month period that was 188,000 gallons. It hadn't rained in months (La Nina) and we were trying to save the greenery, but still, it blew my mind how much water was being pumped out. At the same time, there was a mansion on the ocean in Palm Beach that was on a pace of 3 million gallons. Now with the El Nino occurring, I haven't turned the water on at my new house in 8 months.

maybe he just lets all his sinks run at a fairly slow pace, all day, everyday, b/c he is just that kind of guy.

A jerk.

If i was rich i'd run my water all the time just because i can.
