Leonard Davis, UFA OT Cardinals

Good fit for us... He has really come along in past 2 years....

If we even call his agent i'll give you the respect.

But until that point you have to stop pimping this guy!!!

He has become a top offensive lineman. Powerful run blocker. Pancake bocks two at a time, sometimes three.

He will be in high demand.

Okay lets say he is one of THE best lineman out there. Why would the Patriots go after a guy they dont need? Especially since they will have to pay him the most of any of our already under contract players.

because our tackles arent that good thats why

Light isn't good? Are you kidding me?

Kaczur is only entering his 3rd year. O'Callaghan his 2nd. They are mid-round draft picks. They've been fine so far as starters.

No need for Davis.

Our O-Line has done an admirable job protecting Brady, but the rushing offense leaves something to be desired - I'm not sure if the OLine is to blame or not, but I no longer am sure if I'd put the OL in the same category as I would the DL in terms of it being set in stone for next season and beyond.

they need all the help they can get on the ol

Carlos Polk
Height: 6-2
Weight: 262 lbs.

I thought Polk played pretty well against us and he has the size and speed BB likes and he's played in a 3-4 already. The Chargers are very high on him and he filled in for them at all 4 LB spots during the year, BB loves versatility.

I can see us going after a guy like this since most of the big names will get franchised like Samuel. Plus taking away from the Chargers is the double bonus.

Kelley Washington from the Bengals is another under the radar guy they could look at. I'm pretty sure they liked him coming out of college and he's young and talented but stuck behind Johnson, TJ, and Henry.

I think these are the types of players the Pats will look at.

Light can be moved to guard, Davis can start and have a big impact at either left tackle or right guard... Mankins can move and so can KacZur, and with Koppen, OCallaghan and whoever I am missing, the OL can be much improved.

What are you talking about?!?!

Why the hell would you move Mankins from LG? That makes about as much sense as starting Rashad Baker at QB.

Then what would you with Neal? Neal, Mankins, and Koppen will be starters for quite some time. Kaczur and O'Callaghan did fine as starters. There's absolutely no where or no legit reason to move Light.

Picking up Leonard Davis would be one of the stupidest moves the Pats could make this offseason, considering the money he's going for, the current youth at OL, and their long-term contacts ACROSS THE BOARD. The next time one of the current OL starters is scheduled to become a free agent is March 2010. 'Nuf said.

The Pats won't make any moves at OL this year, besides signing a UDFA or two.

None of the current starters deserves to be demoted or given up on.

You need to get over this love-fest for Leonard Davis. He hasn't lived up to his billing as a #2 overall pick. He hasn't even made the Pro Bowl in his 6-year career.

he had neck issues
but i always liked him
i was actually angry that the pats took bethel johnson instead of him
he could come really cheap and could be a real find

exactly how i feel
and, they did not do a great job in pass protection in the mid to late reg season
i like koppen a lot and i like our guards, but light and kaczur leave a lot to be desired
and btw, even though kaczur is only in his third yr, he is somthin like 28 yrs old

The pats won't be signing Davis, because he is not a good value for the team. We have much more pressing needs, while the O-line may not be spectacular, I wouldn't consider it a need at all. WR, LB, S, and CB will all be addressed before we spend big on a tackle. If we we're gonna spend that type of money I would rather see us go after Adalius Thomas, Nate Clements, or Assante Samuel.

Saftey market isn't that great, but I do think one of the top 3 Saftey's will fall to us at 24. Go to nfldraftcountdown.com if you want a player profile on one of them or an in-depth mock draft. I would also love to see either Jarrett or Ginn JR. in a Pat's uni but I don't think we get that lucky. We would probly need to trade up to do that.

heres my list of guys id like the pats to look at:

wr:

kevin curtis (not as high on him as most)

I think he'd be a great pickup. I saw him in St. Louis this yr vs KC when he took one of the hardest hits at the end of the game (it could be heard up in the nosebleed seats) and got right back up. I think he could be a great addition (possession receiver) asnd could be had at a reasonable salary.....

Just an FYI. Mike Furrey agreed to a 3 year contract extension with the Lions today according to ESPN.

Here is my wish list:

1.) Adalius Thomas - can play any LB position and has 3-4 experience and unlike Briggs with Urachler, we know he can perform at a high level without Ray Lewis.
2.) Nate Clement - This guy is perfect for the Pats style of defense. He is a great press coverage type of CB.
3.) Ken Hamlin - This guy has what it takes to be a top SS in this league as long as he can stay healthy.
4.) Kevin Curtis - This guy was ready to break out under Mike Martz's offensive system. He doesn't fit into Scott Linehan's vertical offense, but he is tailor made for our offense. He is small, fast, smart (he has the highest Wonderlic score of any active player with 48 or at least he did two years ago), has good hands, and has a huge vertical leap. I think he could be a perfect Deion Branch replacement. I think he will be the Pats surprise free agent find of the offseason.
5.) Lance Briggs - Only have him so low because I do have concerns about his size and lack of 3-4 experience.
6.) Michael Lewis - Had a down year so he might not demand the contract he would normally have gotten. The guy can play both in coverage and on the line of scrimage. Another possible Harrison replacement.
7.) London Fletcher-Baker - Age is a concern, but a solid LB.
8.) Deon Grant - A very good FS. Would allow us to potenially move Wilson to CB or if he isn't going to be 100% off the bat.

One name out there as a possible cut is Simeon Rice, I know he is not the player he was in the past but I wonder if he could be productive in a rotation with Colvin and Vrabel.

Has he played OLB recently? I thought he was strictly a DE kind of like Freeney.
