Everybody relax this is clearly a homage to Al Davis. BB and I are on the same page here.

Jake Bequette - DE

Pats take Jake Bequette - DE - Arkansas with the 90th pick..

I like the Bequette pick and it's good value. He's a player.

Jones, Hightower, hiccup, Bequette

can barely believe it. three surprising picks, one to be expected. extremely happy with the additions to the front seven.

A little confused as to what his position is with us tho? He is a tweener

I like the pick. But he must have peed on Nolan Nawroki's flowers or something.

ProFootballWeekly.com - Draft Prospect - Jake Bequette

summary: Smooth-muscled with a long torso and short arms, Bequette is a white-collar college defensive end with disproportionate swagger given his average athletic ability and submissive run defense. Might be in for a rude awakening vs. NFL tackles, needs to get significantly stronger to survive relying on his linear, effort-based rush style and will have to show teammates and coaches he can be trusted not to freelance in search of sacks. Could warrant interest as a stand-up linebacker.

OLB I guess

I don't think so, he weighs 275 lbs has great agility as was shown in his combine leading 3 cone, but was said to do poorly in LB drills.

Maybe BB saw a good football player and said we can use that talent in the front 7. He looks like a situational 4-3 End maybe play rush OLB on 3rd down only. Not sure he can drop into coverage at the next level.

If you watch Felger and Mazz. Felger did a mock this week. Beatle held a board up. And, Felger winged a highlighter at him. He hit Bequette today...LOL

Bequette seems like a project, but perhaps he can rotate in as a situational pass rusher early on.

Those agility scores make him look like a DB more than a Front 7 player.

And Jermaine Cunningham has to be the most nervous guy on the Patriots this week. He has a LOT more competition for his job now ...

Bequette is a good redeeming pick after the shocker in round 2. I don't get it when there were alot of potential elite players left in the draft

Rightfully so. He obviously hasn't show much to inspire confidence.

I would agree with this assessment, myself.

I'm not seeing OLB too much here, but I'm not exactly an expert either, so who knows?

We needed the depth at either spot, if he can offer situational OLB help then all the better.

Looking at the draft board in the second and third rounds, I would have preferred Kendall Reyes, DT from Connecticut in the second round and Josh Chapman, NT from Alabama in the third round. Can never have enough quality defensive lineman on a football team.

I wish, just once, someone from the organization would honestly explain stuff like this. What is the freaking point of dumping a 61 for a damn 90 and a 163??? This team doesn't need bodies for training camp, it needs impact players on defense. Wilson had better produce is all I can say. And no, I don't pretend to know more than anyone else. :bricks:

Perhaps on THIER board BB doesn't see a significent difference between 61 and 90 based on their grades for the players in the range and will take the 90 pick as being similar to the 61 pick with the added bonus of the 163.

Without seeing how the Pats board is stacked and how the grades stack, we can't judge how they see the #90 pick vs 61.

No. It's not a joke. Do yourself a favor and go and look at every single veteran who has ever re-done their contract for the Patriots since Bill got here. Not once has he cut any one of them. Doing so is bad business. So, while you have your opinion, I have facts. Just because you don't like the facts doesn't change them.

Belichick doesn't draft lb in 1st round never have never will(mayo). Belichick doesn't value guards enough to draft one early(mankins). Belichick doesn't deal with divas(dillon, moss). Belichick won't draft pass rushers early(chandler). Patriots don't spend big money on FA won't happen(Thomas). Your reasoning is bad, bb wants to give ocho another chance but doesn't want to pay him big again. That doesn't make him a lock. Branch vastly out performed him but people act like he's a scrub. again I would love to see ocho succeed here. But your reasoning is severely flawed. Just because he hasn't done it before doesn't mean he wont. It's belichick, anything is possible.
