So it says here :

FootballScoop - The Scoop

"New England Patriots: A source told us this afternoon that the Patriots have hired former Bucs (and Broncos and Titans) and University of Texas quarterback Chris Simms. Unclear at this time what his role will be."

I assume it is as a low level assistant especially with someone having to move up to replace Ferentz as TE coach.

I assume it is as a low level assistant especially because his dad covers a lot of their games.

 ;) :D :p

Phil will be happy..

Phil now bleeds Patriot Blue, going to love his broadcasts this season.

BB takes care of his guys...just another example...

Simms is worse then Bryant Gumbel, I'll sometimes turn the sound off the game and just play music so I don't have to hear him.

Well, at least Phil will now forget about the snowball incident and say nice things about the Pats during broadcasts. Maybe that's why BB hired his kid ;)

Maybe phil will be less of an douche on gameday now
I've always found both Simms and Jim N. to be both fair and complimentary of the Pats. I enjoy their broadcasts, particularly when compared with Fox's which unfailingly make my effing ears bleed.

So four years after interviewing him they finally hired him?
Long background check.

That is, Chris Simms was the guy the Patriots had in to try out for a back-up role to Brady in 2008, as I recall. They apparently wanted a veteran back-up, but didn't want to guarantee a salary so they planned to sign Simms or Rattay after week one. Then Bernard Pollard happened, and the Patriots didn't want to put an untested Matt Cassel in a situation looking over his shoulder at that vet back-up. The Pats committed to Cassel, no Chris Simms.

We'll keep your name on file, Chris, and let you know if anything comes up.

Apparently it did!

Chris almost became our new QB went Brady went down in 2008,or at least he was called in to talk about it,then quickly his chances were whisked away because Belichick made his mind up that Cassel was the guy for the job.

Are you watching the same Phil Simms I am?

I thought he was going to cry when the Pats beat Baltimore in the AFCCC

I believe Riddler is implying that Phil WILL NOW bleed Patriots blue.

Tears of joy, I hope you mean. Phil loves the Patriots. He rarely gives them a bad rap, even when they screw up.

Phil Simms = As close to a homer as a national broadcaster can get.

Are you guys seriously all this paranoid. My god cbs and nantz and simms always speak highly of the Pats. They show Kraft every single game. Tough to take people serious on here.

I agree. I don't get the Nantz-Simms hate. They're the best commentators out there IMO.

LOL, please don't take people seriously on here.

I guess that after his former OL coach's son left, Belichick felt the need to hire one of his former QBs' sons ¯\(°.o)/¯

Simms feels the need to constantly speak and he says absolute nonsense, half of which is obvious to anyone with a brain, and contradicts the other half of what he says. I seriously want to fight him.
