Best landing spot for Peyton?

Anywhere but AFC east teams.

Why wouldn't you want a damaged QB on the tail end of his career playing outside in a brand new scheme for one of the Pats rivals? I REALLY want him to play for an AFC East team!

As long as there is no agreement to delay, Peyton will be cut before the season starts or he will be paid $28M. His bonus would NOT be part of the compensation by another team. The colts could absorb the $28M cap hit in order to get the significant compensation for trading Manning.

Thus the colts could pay the $28M and tyhen negotiate with other teams (and allow Peyton to negotiate with other teams.

All this being said, I expect that Peyton will retire or play for the jets.

What would their be for Manning to negotiate? If they pay him the $28M and then trade him their dead cap is $38M... There aren't enough draft picks to significant'y compensate for that, let alone would they be offered for a 37 year old QB who may never be quite elite again... Manning is now on record saying he will work with another team to structure a deal that addresses their concerns. He won't do that for the Colts because they're drafting his replacement rather than more weapons...

And he's not going to the Swamp. Outdoors, circus atmosphere, same division as BB and TFB, etc. Not to mention the JETS can't afford him.

The best landing spot would be S.F. in my opinion. Adding Manning with that defense and that run game would make them a serious problem for everyone and they would automatically win their division. Where he ends up is another matter altogether. he's going to make the decision based on both $$$$ and the opportunity to win right now, he's not going to a rebuild. Miami and Washington will both want him but he may not like their chances, same for teams like Arizona and Tennessee. Dallas and the Jets will likely get hard on's for him and would probably move heaven and earth to get him but would have to really screw with their rosters and caps to get it done.

I don't believe he's retiring and it is going to get really interesting when Irsay cuts him because there is no way he's staying in Indy.

IMO the best landing spot for Peyton are either the Sasketchewan Roughriders or the Edmonton Eskimo's...

I just hope its not the jets. I would prefer it if its an NFC team aswell, maybe the cards or seahawks?

Assuming he is healthy? Houston.

Trade Schaub, bring in Manning.

Oline - Check
Stud WR - Check
Solid TE - Check
Great defense - Check
Great Running game - Double Check

Tennessee is probably one of the least likely places for him to end up. He'd be an upgrade over Hasselbeck, but in reality Locker could end up replacing Hasselbeck this coming season. Had Mike Munchak not been stuck on Hasselbeck coming off his leg injury Locker probably gets the Titans in the playoffs over Bengals. Having Locker sit over half his contract does not do anyone any good.

It doesn't necessarily make sense on paper, but as you know since you live there, this guy is a god in Tennessee. It would be like Jacksonville trading for Tebow. What is the website that is raising money for billboards and such to bring him back, is it Come Home Peyton or something like that?

Here is an article the specifics on his current deal.

The one team that could get the biggest benefit out of Peyton Manning would be the 49ers. Anyone who signs Manning wants to win a SB within the next 2 years, or there's no point.

Niners were within an OT of making to the SB, and what is it they lack? An elite QB. If Manning is healthy and plays for the 49ers they become odds-on favorites to win it all.

Yep, www.comehomepeyton.com. Yeah watching a 1/3 of the Titans fans at LP switch colors for 2 games a year is annoying. I've got season tickets down here and it'd make me puke to have him here. or drink more so I'd not remember it.

Seattle Seahawks, they went 7-9 with Tarvaris Jackson at helm. They have a young, talented secondary, good overall defense, Marshawn Lynch, and a solid group of WRs for Peyton.

I could see them going 12-4, or 13-3 with a healthy Peyton at helm.

On the other hand, I keep thinking the Cardinals are going to try to recreate the 2007 Pats offense with Peyton, Fitzgerald, and Welker.

I disagree. There's really nothing to fear from Lurch Manning. He got his neckbolts adjusted and is a year out of football. Reports are that he has lost velocity on his passes. Manning is a my-way guy offensively so he'll further screw up the coaching mess in Miami or NYJ - one HC brand new after the incumbent was fired and the other on the hot seat.

Good news for us: it'll be a sideshow to have Manning come to town once a year and it's unlikely he finishes up next season anyway.

Adding him and his mega-salary to Miami or the Jets will only make them older and less flexible to bring in additional talent.

Manning in Miami could rekindle a bit of a rivalry with those guys and if he's any good, could further marginalize the Jets. All good.

The Jets, on the other hand, are in cap hades as it is, paying Manning north of $20 million will further diminish their ability to be competitive now or in the future. Even more fun, Manning on the Jets will be a QB controversy from day one. Those teams always implode.

There are lots of reasons to welcome him to the AFC East.

I am hoping Manning returns to his MVP form. Not sure why anyone wouldn't want to see Brady and Manning square off twice a year as division rivals, not to mention that's four times the Jets would need to face Brady and Manning.

You're hoping and assuming he returns to MVP form. The odds are stacked against him. Most likely whatever team he joins will end up like when Favre joined the Jets.

More like when Favre joined the Vikings. At least if that happens, Manning's suckitude will get Rex Ryan fired.

SF -- they would've beat the Giants if they had him (or any of the top 5 QBs); and he's never had an elite D to help him out

Arizona. It would be interesting to see Manning to Fitzgerald (from a neutral viewer's standpoint).

I'll be interested to see if any of Manning's offensive weapons follow him.
